not to sure....

I use to always use this foundation when i started out with make up, and to start with it was great, but then as i got older it just didnt stay on my face but the end of the day it had fallen off and went all patchy. I was not happy at all with the result after paying so much money to start with.

Had high expectations

I purchased this foundation after considering it for a long time. I was color and skin matched and was given shade 220 natural beige for oily/combination skin. I still can't quite figure out if I'm a fan or not! I have pretty typical combination skin and this foundation seemed to leave me dry on my cheeks and forehead. It does have good buildable coverage and still allows skin to breathe. I think I might try another skin type if I choose to repurchase.

Tips: Definatly better to use a foundation brush to apply this makeup. Would not reccomend using hands as it just doesn't seem to go on smoothly.

My HG Department Store Liquid Foundation

This was a great foundation for me to start out and experiment with. I wore this in the shade 'Ivory' but unfortunately it's a little too light for me, and the next colour up 'Buff' is too dark. I'd say it's the best department store foundation you can buy, its staying power is incredible. It provides medium-high coverage and is buildable.

The downside? If applied too heavily can look unnatural and cakey. The biggest negative for me - it clogs my pores and tends to break me out a little. If you were to buy it from Walmart it would be worth its $12USD price tag, but it's not worth its more than double price in NZ.

Tips: Spend a little extra and go for MAC liquid foundation, (I go for NW13) it matches perfectly, is higher coverage and lasts just as long. The quality is superior and it doesn't irritate my skin.

Colour matched but little coverage

As I have lighter skin I really enjoyed the colour range of Revlon's foundation but was a bit saddened to find that the coverage was not quite enough. My skin is dry normally and I use a primer before wearing foundation for a few hours however this did not prolong the wear of this foundation as it easily melted down. I would use this foundation in summer or on the odd occasion that I seek a lighter coverage but not for a night out.

Doesn't "stay" as long as you would like

This make up looks great when you first apply it, however I've always found that it doesn't hold up during the day and your skin can tend to look a bit oily. I also found that it tended to rub off fairly easily (my phone was covered in it!). It gives good coverage initially but needs touching up too often during the day to be something I would buy again.

Tips: Put on a good moisturiser first!

Revlon Colour Stay Foundation

Overall this foundation was okay and I used a whole bottle but do not think I will purchase it again. One of the main issues I have with this is the colour. While it was close enough, I always felt like the lightest shade was too pink for me. I am quite fair and the next shade up was too dark but I managed to make it work with enough blending. I found the best way to apply this is with a wet sponge. This applied a thin layer and could be built up to a medium coverage. I do not think it was a full coverage foundation though, and when I did try to make it have more coverage I found it could become quite heavy. In terms of this being appropriate for dry skin, I do not think it was. When I had dry patches I found it enhanced them - it was certainly not hydrating. As for this foundation being long lasting, I did not wear it for 24 hours to comment on that aspect. On average I would wear it for 8 to 10 hours and for that period of time it did seem to last well enough.

Ok but not worth the price

People rave about this foundation being a staple in their beauty routine, however I felt pretty neutral about it myself. It doesn't come with a pump so it was very inconvenient to pour it out of the bottle. Unfortunately buff was too light for my nc15 skin, but I did wear this on several occasions out of necessity! The foundation itself was good but not the best I've ever tried, especially for the price you pay for it on New Zealand. If it was $8.99 in New Zealand like it is in America, I might consider buying this again.

Ok for around the house!

When i first started wearing makeup, i swore by this! it could be a case of my skin changing, but this product is no longer a go to. For the price range you are better off going for loreal! I do have a couple that i got for really cheap from priceline in australia, so i do wear it occasionally, however i find its my go to when i just want to throw something on if im going to the gym or something (I know im one of those people- my skin doesent see the light of day). Its a product I use when i dont care if its going to be washed off an hour later, essentially getting wasted. It does last reasonably well though, although be careful with application as it can be a bit "liney"

Hard to wash off!

This foundation provides good coverage without feeling particularly heavy on my skin. Manages to stay on for the day. I find when putting powder on top it clumps and looks terrible. Also it is particularly hard to wash off and leaves my skin feeling like chalk.

Colour stay...all day!

This is a great foundation to have for those times you want to have a more classic look.

It has a medium coverage which lasts all day and can be built up to get a fuller cover (but too much can look a bit heavy), although I cant say it would last 24hrs as I only wear this when I go out somewhere special. I like the bottle it comes in but sometimes find it fiddly/messy to use.

I do think the results are a tad dull looking but with good blending it works great and can suit most skin types. Especially because there is a nice range of shades.

The downside is the cost, it just isn't what I call flawless so I expect something better for that price.

It is lightweight and really doesn't rub off which is perfect for me.

Tips: ~Use a hydrating primer as this can be slightly drying.
