Not my thing

Was given this product as a gift and after trying it i wouldnt go out and buy it for myself. I found that you couldnt go over where you had just painted because it ruined the whole look of the nail. I found it very difficult to apply because it dried up so fast. I thought the price range was too costly for me.

Shatter

I used to like this product but am kind of over it and think its gone out of fashion. But does look nice as tips only or a feature nail

Tips: use quite quickly as it can go gluggy and dry up

Turquoise.

I love the colour of this polish. From it's shimmer to the intensity of the colour. It dries quickly, so if you're going out or in a rush you can quickly paint it over an existing nail colour. I tried my luck and tried it by itself without any base colour/ base coat. It didn't shatter, went matte and flaked off... My bad. And when I was obsessed with the black shatter I found the bottle dried out very quickly.

Tips: If the bottle has dried out, try nail polish thinner. Also when you start to notice its not going on as easily, just put the lid back on and shake a couple of times and wipe one side of the brush for application.

Love it

Work sooooo well and stays on for a long time. Make sure that bottom coat is perfectly dry or else it smudges the shatter. Also don't go over the first layer of shatter or else it won't work

Shatter

I find that this has lately gone out of fashion, when first released this product was all the rage! Does work well if you are patient and have the time to wait for the first coat to try and then apply the shatter other wise it tends to smudge and the affect will be ruined!

Awful trend!

I will never understand the trend for "shatter nail-polishes" is it even still a trend? I tried the OPI shatter nail polishes on a few occasions when they first came out.

You will need to apply this over dry nail polish (not touch dry, they must be completely dry) & it will then "shatter" as it sets.

To me it looks tacky and unprofessional. I like my nails to look perfect with solid colours and if I'm after something a little more creative then I will add an accent nail.

This is a trend that should never have happened!

On a side note, this product DOES work, I'm just not a fan

Tips: Apply over completely dry nail polish

Past it use by date

I have to admit I jumped on this bandwagon when it came out and I LOVED it, but I would have to say it has definitely done its time and I wouldn't purchase this any more. I found that the product could get quite gluggy, and application wasn't consistent, it could either to too thick, or too thin. Was okay when bottle was brand new though. The product does work pretty well however!

Good but outdated

I never personally liked the shatter look, but in saying that they are good polishes, as long as you put on thinly, too think and they definitely do not "shatter", but they have definitely done there dash in the popularity category

OPI Shatter

These definitely were a trend that has come and gone. I remember when they first came out they were upwards of $30 each, but now pretty sure you can buy for $2 at the Warehouse. They do what they say they will but often its hard to get the whole nail to crack nicely. there are a couple of rules you have to follow to get the desired effect.

1. Must be over nail polish. It will not work if it is over bare nails.

2. The nail polish on your nails must be dry. Will not work if nail polish is tacky.

3. Must be painted on very thin. If it is too thick it wont crack.

I loved it when they first came out - it looks very cool with a glittery colour underneath. But now its a bit of a hassle for me.

OPI Shatter

I really liked the "shatter" nail polish range when they first came out, I even got it in six different shades (black, white, gold, silver, pink, & teal). The product DOES do what it says in that it shatters, but that will depend on how you apply it - if you apply the right amount of the shatter polish (not too thick and not too thin), then you will get the nice shattering effect. I always found it hard to get a nice consistent shatter pattern whenever I did my nails with this nail polish. You also have to make sure that you have another colour nail polish underneath (make sure it's completely dry first!) for the shatter to work. The nail polish is also easy to remove, just like most other OPI nail polishes. These nail polishes are cool for a different nail effect, however they aren't so "in" anymore compared to when they were first introduced!

Tips: Apply a top coat to ensure that the shatter polish stays on for longer, as I found that they came off more easily (since they are in crackles/shatters). I would also suggest putting a colour underneath that would contrast with the colour of the shatter - for example, a light or bright shade (like OPI Did It On 'Em) if you are using a darker shatter like the black shatter, and vice versa.
