NYX Jumbo Pencil

I have 4 of these pencils. I find them to be a nice affordable product but not very long lasting. They are pigmented and apply nicely though. I think anyone who is interested in this product need to keep in mind that they don't claim to be a long lasting formula and state they are a pencil, not an eyeshadow. I have shades MILK, ICED MOCHA, PURPLE VELVET and COBALT.

Milk is probably the most popular shade. It's a very pigmented matte white. Ideal for the waterline, inner eye highlight or as a base to make your shadows colour more true to colour and popping. While it is great at all this, on my eye lids it just doesn't last. I tend to roughly apply over my lid and then blend it with my finger tip, it is easily blend-able. It isn't effective at prolonging my shadows unfortunately but my lids do need a strong primer which this product does not claim to be. It does crease on me.

Iced Mocha is a gorgeous bronze, super pigmented and creamy. Great blended all over the lid. Once again not long lasting on my lids and does crease.

Purple Velvet is a dark purple shade, while initially very pigmented it smudges away very easily once you start to blend. It's suited as a base when set with a shadow but like with all, you may want to keep it close to your lash line and away from any creases!

Cobalt is a bright blue with a shimmer to it. It's a lovely colour but it loses a lot of opacity if blended too much (which of course is expected)

All these depend on how you want to use them. I think their ideal use is slightly smudged on the lash line. Your not going to get a super tidy lined look as they are jumbo pencils and I find they wear off really quickly.

Of my 4 I only use Milk regularly.

Tips: Using a brush, like a small angled brush, is my favourite way to apply if I want more precision.

Great product!

I bought this in the colour Milk (a white colour). Creamy and blendable pencil, great for using on your eyelids as a base/primer or for using on your waterline. It creases a little bit but smooths back out with a warm finger.

Milk is the perfect eye shadow base

I love these jumbo pencils, great quality for the price. I love the shade Milk, which I use as a shadow base when wanting super intense colour payoff with my eye shadow. It doesn't crease and is easily blended. The only down side to these is they are really hard to sharpen later and get a sharp point back on the tip of the pencil. I eventually de potted these and use a brush to apply them, which makes it much easier

Yes could totally use this as a base instead of a primer, it doesnt crease or go flakey and makes the shadow go on smoothly :)

So many uses

I have this in the color 'milk' which is just a matte white color. This is great and has so many uses :) highlight your brow bone, use as a primer/eyeshadow base, use in your water line to brighten up the eye area. It lasts for a decent amount of time and is overall a great product, cheap too!

Creamy, Pigmented and Affordable

I went a bit nuts when purchasing NYX jumbo eye pencils - ended up with ten shades. They are so creamy, easy to blend and highly pigmented - I'm a brown girl and they show up beautifully on my skin. I actually depotted all my pencils so I didn't waste any of the product. You can use these pencils as cream shadows or liners - and use the lighter shades as highlighters - either on your brow or upper cheekbone. I really love this product and the best part is that they are cruelty free - will be purchasing more shades in this so definitely a beauty lovers staple/must have product. Highly recommend.

Tips: Depot the pencils so you get all the product out and zero wastage.

Milk base

I got one of these in Milk because I had seen endless videos that had used as a base. It is a great base for giving eyeshadow that extra pop of colour however I have found that sometimes it ceases, maybe due to the primer I use, or could have been due to the eyeshadow I put on top, I don’t know I will have to do some testing. It is great for what it can do, as a base, highlight inner corner and even highlight your brow bone. It can also be sharpened.

Black Bean: Great base for smokey

I’m not one to rush to buy creamy products without trying them on first but decided to take a chance and ordered just two from BeautyJoint for something ridiculously cheap. I believe I bought Black Bean and Yoghurt because the ones I wanted most (i.e. Milk and Pots & Pans) weren’t available.

They're quite chunky but compared to Bobbi Brown Art Sticks these look rather slender! The outside packaging is some sort of thin plastic but don’t be alarmed you can still sharpen these you just need to break through the plastic to get to the wooden part. You can do this if you have a sharpener with a jumbo slot or alternatively buy the NYX jumbo sharpener.

So what's someone with oily lids doing with such a creamy formula? If used correctly (and lightly in my case) this works well for me. It's so easy to blend, sometimes a little too easy that I end up swiping off the actual colour. I draw the product on my lid then pat and spread it slightly all over the lid. I avoid rubbing or swiping because it lifts the product. I also keep it below my crease because even when I prime the product tends to slip and this is partly due to my oily lids and the added creaminess of the product.

I normally use the pencil when I'm doing a smokey eye but other than that I don't reach for it as often because I don't sport a sultry smokey to the office. I love using metallic shades over this base; it gives the smokey eye more dimension not to mention an extra bit of oomph (if I blend it right of course). Obviously it's not ideal to use light shades over this base but I highly recommend metallics.

This shade is a great base and as much as I love it I don't see any need for me to venture into the other shades any time soon. I am quite content with owning the one and using it as required (Yoghurt has a new home) - so far it's been a good couple of years and still plenty left.

Enhances eyeshadow well.

I got this in the shade lavender which is a very light purple. I felt the swatch online made it look slightly darker then what it actually is so was slightly disappointed as I wanted a darker purple but it is still a very pretty colour.

The pencil is rather thick so I didn't buy it to use as an eyeliner but more so as an eyeshadow. It has a lovely creamy texture and is quite sheer on.

My current eyeshadow primer is urban decay and I tried using this first and then putting the pencil on top but it just creased and looked messy. I found that wearing it alone the colour payoff wasn't dark enough to stand out and it did cease after a few hours of wear. For me personally the best use of this pencil is as an eyeshadow base, for which it does an excellent job. It really enhances the colour of other eyeshadow and was less likely to crease.

The pencil is lasting me ages and while it does need a larger than normal sharper, most sharpers on the market now come with two sizes. So this hasn't been a problem.

I recommend this shade as an eyeshadow base. NYX make some beautiful shades so I will likely repurchase in a darker colour.

Tips: Try and swatch in store first to make sure the shade works for you.

Black

This chunky jumbo eye pencil is great for those dramatic eye effects as it smudges out with a brush or finger for a very intense look, but can also be precise enough to tight line. Very versatile.

Yes it smudges but once dried down it will stay put for the duration of the day as long as you don't go touching it, light tears or sweat don't budge it either. Sob like a banshee though and it will run off.

Find the black very dark and perfect for those gothic rimmed eyes. Affordable and easily accessible.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

These eye pencils are super useful and can be used in many different ways! For spfx, brightening the waterline, as an eyeliner, and as an eyeshadow base! The pigmentation is excellent and I find the shade 'Milk' especially awesome! You can use it under any eyeshadow to make the color twice as intense! A catch 22 of the product is that the pencil form is super easy to use, but when it gets blunt and it comes time to sharpen it can be such a pain/hassle! I couldn't find a pencil sharpener that would sharpen it so had to depot it and lost a bit of the product which was a bummer! The formula makes up for it though!

Tips: Use it as an eyeshadow base to make colors pop and last longer!
