Maybelline SuperStay 16hr Powder

Love this as it can be used as good setting powder or even over the top of your foundation and can possibly get away with using it alone if you don't like the full coverage look. I prefer full coverage and would use it over my foundation. This powder tends to have better staying powder compared to others on the market. This doesn’t feel heavy and doesn’t oxidize either.

The powder comes in a plastic circle container. The white middle base can be lifted up and underneath you will find a handy circular mirror and white thin sponge. Which makes this perfect to put the powder in your bag so you can do quick touch ups through the day if needed. I was lucky enough to be able to trial the powder in the shade 06 fresh beige. I found that this powder is medium to full coverage. Initially it gave a lovely coverage with a nice matte finish. I definitely had to re apply / touch up during the day, despite the 16 hour lasting claim. I found that this powder stuck to the dryness around my nose area and it doesn’t help cover any pimples or pores, especially around my nose and T zone. Overall, however I did quite like this powder and it is affordable so I would purchase and use again.

Really like this powder, its another win from maybelline and quite affordable.

I do tend to use powders sparingly... I mostly use maybellines powders as so affordable but only certain areas of my face as I can get dry patches.

This was a good powder to use with great coverage and colour - again easy to pick your match.

Decent sized mirror and palette. I like the sponge but don't love it.

Great coverage for the price, it lasted longer than I expected and didn't dry my skin out. It was absorbent without clumping for me personally but I selected my coverage and I didn't use full coverage so avoided certain areas.

Good cheap buy from maybelline.

I really enjoyed this powder. I used it as a setting powder on top of my foundation and concealer, and found that it did a really good job of keeping everything in place and taking away excess shine, without looking too cakey. It was more of a medium coverage for me, though I did find that it built up a bit to a heavier coverage, so it's worth noting to go in light at first, and lightly build up to the level of powder coverage you want to avoid potential cake-face! I would definitely use this powder again, and recommend it to a friend.

I have also been a ‘powder girl’ – I just think it sets the foundation & makes your makeup last longer. I also hate shine & have been using the Maybelline Matte Maker powder for quite a while. The Maybelline SuperStay 16hr Powder is about $10 more expensive that the Matte Maker but still reasonably priced. It comes in compact form with a little sponge pad & mirror hidden underneath – neat addition that Matte Maker does not have. I thought I had totally picked the wrong colour as it looked pinkish in the package but it suited me fine. I applied using a powder brush but the sponge & mirror is useful for popping in your handbag so that you do not have to take a brush for refreshing if you don’t want to. The powder goes on very fine & certainly did not clog my pores or sit there like cement dust. I also believe it did help with the staying power of the foundation as it said it would. I did get some shine come through after a few hours, but again reapplying felt OK & not clogging. For me personally; I would use this powder in the day as it works well with the foundation, but I still like the Maybelline Matte Maker powder for its shine reducing properties.

When I first got the compact I thought the packaging looked nice and sleek however I was a little nervous about the quality as I could hear a clicking noise. I wondered if it was cheap, easily breakable packaging - turns out there are two layers to the compartment (under the powder there is a sponge and a mirror which will be handy for on the go applications).This makes up for the slightly annoying clicking!

I applied the liquid foundation from the range first, and I wasn't overly impressed. Then I applied the powder with a brush - wow. My skin went from looking uneven with barely any coverage to smooth and full coverage without looking cakey. Even better, I was using a pretty light hand to apply the powder so I feel like it's great value for money and will last for a long time.

I decided to test out the sponge for application too, and I didn't like it. It felt like it made the foundation underneath separate and it packed on the powder too heavily so I will definitely continue using a powder brush for application.

In terms of the 16 hour stay claim, my skin gets oily after a few hours no matter what I use on it (even if it is bare). When I added a second layer of powder to my oily skin that had a layer of liquid foundation and a layer of powder (about 8 hours after originally applying my base), it mattified the shine and remained looking nice until I removed my make up (about 4 hours later). Up extremely close it looked slightly cakey when I applied the second layer, however I could only tell as I was looking for any signs of imperfection.

I will definitely purchase this powder again - while I don't plan to buy the liquid foundation from the same range, the way that this powder looks on my oily skin is perfect and has been something I have been struggling to find with other foundations. I agree with the claim that it is full coverage - It provides lovely even coverage and helps my skin to stay matte looking for longer than liquid foundation on its own, while not looking cakey (even after a second coat). I am excited to try it with a range of different liquid foundations.

I'm not one for pressed powder after seeing family use them but I gave this one a good go! It definitely lasted all day for me, and looked pretty good on and didn't feel thick or cakey on as I would say.

I really like the matte finish as I don't like looking Shiney so for me a matte finish is a must. The fact its got a mirror and sponge in the compact is a lifesaver as I can pop it in my handbag for after the gym for application etc.

It's one I would purchase again, as I'm getting the hang of using powder again, and using it with my liquid foundation as a touch up is good too.

No reactions with my skin so far either, so will keep using it and see, but definitely quite liking the look of it on my skin. The shade is a perfect match for me too.

I like this powder - it sets foundation and reduces shine through the day. However for me it is just a bit too matte, I felt I had to warm it up a little with some highlighter, which is a bit counterproductive!

It really is heat, sweat and oil proof though and you definitely wont glisten when wearing it!

If super-matte is your vibe, this powder will be perfect for you!

Unfortunately, I chose the wrong shade for my skin so this review will be based on the functionality and whether it did what it says it would and not necessarily how it looked on my skin.Getting the wrong shade was 100% my fault amd no reflection on beauty review or maybelline.

The product comes in a nice little compact disc type shape. It's easy to open and close and as it is mix between liquid and powder, isn't flaky or messy.

The disc is easy to open and close and is simple yet chic looking.

I found the product easy to apply and is smooth and visable enough that you can ensure you are great great coverage.

I have combination skin so found it did cover blemishes but maybe not a much as I would have liked as did have to apply 3 or 4 times on a couple of breakout zones. I am not into the shiny or shimmery look when it comes to foundation so am happy to say that this looks smooth and the finished look would be what I would want from a foundation/powder. I am more of a natural look girl and this gave me that to a certain extent (or would have if I had gotten the right shade).

The maybelline superstay 16 hour powder did last the day and deffinietly is the sweat, heat and oil proof as per its claims. This is a massive bonus for me - I spend a lot of time outdoors and don't always have the closeness of a mirror or a facility to be able to do touch-ups. It's a massive bonus to know that I can rely on the Maybelline Superstay 16 hour powder to take me through the day.

My local maybelline stockist has sold out of this product but I will be buying some (in the right shade), once they are back in stock. I believe it retails for around $30 which is a bargain in my opinion.
