Manic Panic

I have tried Hot Hot Pink and Rock'n'Roll Red.

The red was a very nice colour, I easily got a full, even coverage, I didn't have to completely whiten my hair to get a great result. The colour faded very quickly though, even when I washed my hair in cold water. I was watching the red race down the drain. Rock'n'Roll Red only lasted a few washes for me.

Hot Hot Pink, boy was it hot. Defiantly a bright colour! This also applied evenly, and was such a bright vibrant colour. It had very good lasting power, I got a couple of weeks out of this before it started fading. I have also tried using this as a pastel colour by dulling it down with conditioner before applying it, my hair wasn't white blonde so this didn't work out too well. My hair has a few stains of pink left in it, which I am really struggling to get out.

Overall, this is an okay product. Not sure if I will purchase again, as I have heard better things about many other products.

Tips: If you want the colour to last longer, mix some manic panic with your conditioner, so every time you shower you add a little bit more colour back.

Hot hot pink

So I didn't have the best experience getting my hair done but this isn't at fault of this product. I think this product is actually quite good.

After my purple pastel wasn't going to work at the salon with blueberry hill paint box the next option I was advised was Hot hot pink by Manic Panic.. This seemed to take really well and really quickly. The result was vibrant in the parts of the hair that it took too and it turned into a really pretty candy pink being used as a pastel. Had this of been distributed evenly I think would would have been a great color.. Unfortunately it started to mix up and lighten and I was left with horrible yellow parts of hair and then pretty pink bits

What I found impressive was the hair wasn't left dry or stressed afterward. Because this was a botched job (I didn't do it myself!) my goal was to do everything I could do get the pink out so I could go to a even color.. This stuff wouldn't budge.. It lightened slightly after a decent wash but then it wouldn't budge.. I do have to say though once a gentle product was used to take the pink out of my hair at a salon it came out pretty easily with no staining which meant less stress for my hair.

Had my hair of been an even base I believe the result would have been absolutely fantastic, especially as a pastel! I think I will be interested at experimenting with these colors in the future I will just be careful who I let apply them!

Violet for Lilac

I originally had pink hair but once it washed out I wanted to go lilac so when that washed out I could tone it with a silver shampoo to make it grey/silver. I researched heaps and found out that using the Violet (and diluting it with conditioner instead of paying for the lilac Lilac that manic panic provides and using the whole tub all at once) meant that I could keep re-dying my hair once it washed out without having to keep spending $25 every few weeks. I've had the same tub of violet for about 2 months now and its great.

Downsides! if your hair is not 100% perfectly blonde all over then it is quite patchy, also when it washes out I found to my horror that the hair that shapes my face started turning electric blue and bright green......... it was unpleasant and my hairdresser was baffled and thought I dyed it all these different colours.

Also this is an ORGANIC colour, I learnt the hard way when I went to servilles and they turned my entire head mint green because it reacted with the chemicals in whatever they put in my hair and its been damaged ever since :( they couldn't really fix it and I ended up dying it lilac again..

p.s they don't test on animals :)

Tips: when it starts washing out have a little bottle of the violet/conditioner mixture in the shower and add it in as a normal conditioner to help the colour stay, and helps a lot with the green/blue bits that start showing up. Also wash your hair in cold water. When you wash your hair in warm water it opens the pores and lets the colour and moisture out, also helps with dry hair to wash in cold water.

Mani Panic - The best kind of Rainbow

I use and have used Manic Panic for the last 12 months - I am a huge follower of this product & often get stopped everywhere I go asking for advice and gaining compliments on my Rainbow array of hair. I take super good care of my rainbows, I only have to touch up my colours once every 4-6 weeks. I do use the amplified formula over the classic formula so have less colour options but they are amazing colours and I have used many other brands on the market and NOTHING has stood up as well as Manic Panic :-)

Tips: Wash hair in cold water only + use sulphate free shampoos to prolong the life of your hair colour.

I fully agree with this, the amplified is worth the lack of colour selection for bright colours :)

My number one hair colour brand

I love dying my hair assorted bright colours from blue to pink red and everywhere in between, and when I found a local shop stocked Manic Panic I was right in there buying their Atomic Turquoise. I started with bleached hair and put the colour in not expecting much of a change due to having used bad semis in the past. I slept with it in and in the morning when I washed it out I couldn't believe the colour, it was the most incredible light and bright blue. Even after a few washes the colour stayed. I have also used their purple and pink dyes and have always been impressed. No itchy or damaged scalp, no patchiness, and no dull colours. Thoroughly impressed. Currently have Purple Haze fading in my hair, started off really bright but still looks incredible as it fades to a lilac shade, still getting compliments :)

Tips: Always start with bone-dry hair and leave the dye in overnight for maximum colour. If you are looking to make your hair the brightest it can be, only use the dye on white hair no matter how long the bleaching process is. Don't wash your hair with any shampoo or conditioner for the first week to help the colour really soak in and stay for the longest possible time.
