A new Lime Crime lippy just arrived in the mail for me so I thought I would have a hunt on here and see if I can give them a wee review! Hooray! They are on here - and for good reason. Lime Crime lipsticks are gorgeous. Gorgeous colours, gorgeous packaging, gorgeous finish. Simply, gorgeous.
We shall start with the gorgeous colours - I'd say most people on here are well aware of Lime Crime's wild colours. Bold, bright and beautiful is exactly how I'd describe them. Have you ever seen a bright blue lipstick? Or dark earthy green? Or egg yolk yellow? Well hop on to www.limecrime.com and prepare to be amazed! These beautiful pigmented colours come in a range of shades. Some crazy, some are brighter versions of wearable colours, and some are starting to create new trends. They have a mix of brights, pastels and dark vampy colours.
I find heaps of the shades very wearable - like Babette (a bit of a cult favourite) which is a peachy nude, Geranium - a bright pinky red, Countessa Fluorescent - briiiiiight pink (like Candy Yum Yum by Mac) the list goes on! Overall colour-wise I would definitely say there's a colour out there for everyone and some colours that might put you out of your comfort zone... in a good way!
On to the gorgeous packaging - again, I'm sure most people have seen it before but the lippies come unsealed in a wee purple box and the tube is purple as well with a unicorn and some stars on it. Can anyone say ca-uuute!? Despite the fact they CAN be mistaken for tampons or miniature sex toys, I think the packaging is very sweet and something a bit unique and different which I give them credit for!
Now the gorgeous finish - Lime Crime lipsticks are known for being uber creamy! I find they have more staying powder than all of the Mac formulas and they feel amazing on the lips! They're suuuper pigmented and totally not drying. Sometimes, they can be too creamy and they do transfer easily, however I find that if you blot your lips on a tissue after applying that the darker colours can turn into a bit of a lipstain which is good because then they last even longer!
Overall, I would say that a Lime Crime lippy is a bit of a must have! Get out of your comfort zone and add one to your collection! There are so many NZ retailers selling them now and they are often on sale. Also they are usually only around $25-$30 which is cheaper than a Mac lipstick!
I have never tried lipsticks as pigmented as the Lime Crime ones. They are intense so I wouldn't recommend them to girls just starting out using make up.
I LOVE the packaging- it is just so gorgeous, no other brand compares, plus they are vegan and cruelty free. The lipsticks have a lovely vanilla scent that isn't too overpowering. I don't carry these lipsticks round in my bag as they can get quite affected by warm temperatures. I have Geradium and Babette. I love wearing Geradium on special occasions as it is such a gorgeous bright colour. I was worried Babette would wash me out as most nudes do as I am very fair, however the peach tones seem to work for me so i'm excited I finally have a nude colour that suits me. I do wish this lipstick was easier to apply. The lips need a lot of prep work as it is such a thick lipstick formula so you need a smooth base. I do find the colour to be quite long lasting even when eating/drinking. I try and put one thin layer on that really sinks into my lips and then another thicker coat of the lipstick on top to get the best application.
Tips: Using a scrub on your lips and a lip balm before applying this lipstick is a must if you want it to look as nice as possible.
