Eek, my fault!

I recieved this product in a trial team in the shade chocolate and made a big mistake. I used it over my already light blue hair, meaning my hair went a dark green colour.

You get an average amount for a home dye in the bottle and it seemed to go far in my thick shoulder length hair. It doesn't have a terrible smell and doesn't make your eyes water and nose dry up.

You get a lot of conditioner in the bottle and it is reusable, my only problem is that it smells like head lice cream.

It left my hair very soft and shiny, but the softness didn't last for very long which was quite upsetting.

I would definitely try this product again, but only when my hair fades out a lot. This review will be updated when I use it again :)

Pleasantly surprised!

When I decided to do this review I had no remaining faith in home hair dye. I can now say that faith is renewed with this product.

Opening it up it had the usual 3 bottles of stuff gloves and instruction manual. Mixing the colourant and developer together I realised immediately that this product was going to be different to all the other box dye jobs. The colourant tube was short and fat making it easy to squirt ever drop out and the smell!!!! No more strong overpowering eye watering toxic smell. I was so pleased that through out the process it smelled, dare I say it, good. Almost fruity. My friend however did find it tricky to put the gloves on ~ my one and only complaint ~ as they were far too small for their rather smallish hands so I'd hate to try and do this solo without any other gloves available. Anyway once the dying was done there was no obvious staining on my skin and found it very accommodating that the developer time was only 20minutes. However as my hair is quite long it took awhile to get to the waiting stage and as such my colour has come out darker than desired but that is definitly a user fault. Another thing I loved was the larger than normal conditioning bottle that was provided. This has lasted me 4 washes and it would of been more if I wasn't so gun ho with it. In my showers that have followed only one had a small amount of colour wash out which I expected with the very first shower the following day but have had no problem since and after a week my hair still looks like it was done the day before. In past at home dyes with big name brands, I've had weeks of visible wash out in the shower and faced over bearing smells long developing time not enough conditioner and short lived shine and colour I am so happy that this product, in my opinion, has delivered on all its promises. My hair looks bold, shiny, healthy and sexy!

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss 316 Plum

So a few months ago I found the most amazing home dye colour a dark red but I was about to go to the super market and get it again to do my re growth ad I got an invite to trial this product I thought why not, Once I accepted I went to the L'Oreal site and picked a colour there wasn't any reddish colours I was after so I thought Id go purple why not haven't been purple for years...I picked 100 licorice because it looked purple on this website but when I received my parcel it was black as black as you can get it took me years and a lot of money to get black out of my hair from my teens so I just couldn't go back. I went to the super market and brought 316 Plum still very dark but better a tad better than black.

In the box you get a pair of high quality gloves in a little capsule, the nozzle to screw on the bottle, the bottle of developer creme, The creme colour, Instructions and the conditioner in a neat little box which if you place on it front and push in the dotted lines it has a holder for your bottle of dye so you don't make a mess on your counter.

The no ammonia claim min this dye is amazing you don't end up being choked out of your bathroom it has a slight chemical scent but nothing unpleasant.

Instructions are simple to understand and the whole process is super easy.

I spread the dye through all my hair and left it for 30 mins then washed out with water then x3 with my shampoo to get all the excess colour out then I used the conditioner in the pack.

I then dried my hair and it was very dark very purple very glossy a colour and look my teenage self would have loved, but not what I like now I don't mind the colour its beautiful just not what I want for my hair at the moment but the gloss I dislike more than anything in my hair ever I don't know why but I hated it and I never use the word hate... I washed it the next day 5 times with shampoo trying to get some of the colour out and gloss a lot of colour seemed to be coming out of my hair from what I could see in the water after I dried my hair I could see it wasn't as glossy which I was super pleased about but the colour didn't budge which is good for people who want a hair dye that will last.

I wont repurchase this again because of the gloss even tho that's what the whole product is about I never thought it would be that intense, The colour is stunning if you are after a dark but very purple colour this is for you!

L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss - Light Brown 600

To start off with I must say I only colour my hair once a year. I normally have black hair with a bit of brown mixed in where it has grown out. I chose to receive the light brown shade (number 600).

This product claims to be a semi permanent boxed dye which washes out in 6-8 weeks. The website states that it "gives you a natural-looking colour with visible shimmering tones and glossy shine" and it also states that it is a non drip formula.

I used this product in the week I received it because I wanted to test how well it lasted over the weeks as I tend to wash my hair everyday.

The instructions were pretty straight forward. The smell was really pleasant and the product applied quite easily. The applicator bottle was super easy to use. I have mid-length to long, thin hair and the amount of product was used up quite generously in my hair. Once applied I went back to my normal routine while waiting for the 30 minutes to be up. I dd not have to worry about any drips at all.

It was super easy to wash out in the shower and it did not leave any stains. I used the conditioner that was provided and did not find it to be too beneficial. Was just another conditioner. This did not leave any residue on my towel nor did I get any colour transfer onto my towel. I heat styled as normal.

Colour pay off was brilliant once hair was dry. My hair had gone from black to brown. Two weeks on my hair is still the same colour (even with the daily washing!)

This did not make my hair any shinier or glossier though. The condition of my hair remained similar if not a little bit worse after using this but I just ended up using a treatment conditioner which seemed to perk up the hair a bit.

Overall, this product is not bad for a box dye. I am unsure if I would purchase it again, (even though the colour pay off was great!), as it did not do half of the things that it claimed to do after I used it. It does smell better than most other boxed dyes though so could be a selling point for those who cannot stand the smell of other boxed dyes. :)

Tips: Put Vaseline around your hairline to wipe off any excess product with ease :)

Black Currant

I wouldn't buy or use this product again

To start with the box kept falling apart so everything fell out the bottom and the gloves were really small.

Mixing the product was easy enough but the instructions were a bit of a pain to read as they were written in a few different languages.

Applying the product wasn't an issue, it gave me great coverage and even with only the one bottle it covered my long thick hair really well. I did have a little bit of an issue with it running onto my face but it didn't stain like a lot of other hair colour brands.

Washing out was where had a problem, It took me well over half an hour to wash it out and now after 4 washes it is still running like crazy. I can understand that it may run a little as it is only a semi permanent but this a lot of colour every time I wet my hair.

The Conditioner is an awesome size and left my hair feeling really soft and also left me with enough to use the conditioner several times.

Tips: Buy bigger gloves before use and watch out for the box falling apart

Casting Creme Gloss

Found this product really easy to use, Doesn't smell as potent as other hair dyes, Loved the color when it first washed out and looked amazing, However the only let down with L'Oreal Casting Creme Gloss is that it runs when you sweat and when you sleep but otherwise is pretty good.

Tips: Use an old towel around your neck when you dye your hair and wash off with a wet facecloth if it ends up on your face/ neck.

L'Oréal Casting Creme Gloss

I love it, it was so easy to apply, I could do alot of it before I had to ask for help, it went on easily and I didnt end up with colour everywhere haha It washed out well and my hair took to the colour well. its a nice colour that I think suits me. My hair felt soft and silky when I had finished. It's been a couple of weeks and the colour is fading slightly but not to badly considering it's for 28 washes, I do like it and would definitely use if I'm after a short term colour change.

Average

Just gonna start off with my initial first impression, the box was flimsy and fell apart easily. But the products were easy to mix, didn't take me long to shake the bottle for the products to mix. Upon application, the smell is not so strong which is good, however the consistency was runny and was going everywhere, all over my hands and face. The colour showed up pretty quickly but i still left it on for bout 30-45 mins. While washing, it took ages to run the colour down til the water becomes clear.

This didn't make my hair any glossier as it claims, two days later, i washed my hair again and the dye was still running. Its been a week or more since my initial application and i find the colour staying on pretty well. I probably won't purchase this in the near future, as its pretty average for a $20 box dye

Tips: Rinse your hair GENTLY not roughly as you will remove most of the product

Does the job

I used the colour Iced Chocolate and I was mighty impressed that it came out true to colour. However on "virgin" hair it may come out a little darker than the box. Overall it was a simple and quick process, not unlike other box dyes. There was a no awful chemical smell and I particularly enjoyed using the conditioner that comes with it. There is a huge range of colours available to choose from and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a touch up job in between salon visits.

Tips: Try rubbing in some vaseline along your hair line before putting the dye, it helps to ward off the stray dye that wants to stain the line between forehead and scalp!

Loreal Casting Cream Gloss

This product was very easy to use. Instructions were clear and simple to follow. Colour is lovely, my hair has a lovely sheen. I only have a few grey hairs it blended them but certainly didnt cover them, great non drip and non hairline staining formula. I loved it that you didnt get that just coloured your hair look. Would definetly purchase again.

Tips: I usually put a plastic supermarket bag over my hair while its processing so that I can walk around the house and have no worry of any drips.
