L'oreal Paris Wild Ombres Preference

The box the hair colour cam in is attractive with photos showing what can be achieved with the lightening hair colour. There were clear instructions inside the box to follow. These stated exactly what to do and it was very easy to assemble the colour in the bottle. Instructions were given on how long to leave the cream on depending on how light you wanted to go. The gloves were quite tight, I have average sized hands but if I had larger hands this would be a problem with fitting. The cream had a nice pleasant smell when applying and it was easy to apply with the brush. After washing my hair of the cream when applying the shampoo/conditioner it was very soothing. If left the cream on for 30 minutes and I had a honey colour effect which I was wanting. I was very happy with the outcome and would most definitely use this product again.

Tips: Just to follow the instructions exactly on time to leave the cream on the hair for the desired effect you are wanting.

Nice Colour

I found this relatively easy to do, it was a little difficult to know whether or not I had the back done correctly. I liked the colour but I was glad I darkened some of my hair first. (My blonde ends needed to be darker before I started). I would use this again and I think I would find this a lot easier the second time round. This left my hair in a lovely soft condition. The packaging was very attractive and the instructions clear & easy to understand.

Tips: May be easier if you have someone to help you with the back.

New favourite at home kit!

I have found a new love in at home hair dyeing kits with my trial of the L’oreal Paris Preference Wild Ombre Kit. This kit makes ombre so easy and affordable to do at home and I had hardly any problems, that I didn’t create myself. I used Shade No. 2 for dark brown to medium blonde hair. Background information: I have dyed hair (chocolate brown) which is shoulder length and wavy. My hair isn’t normally very dry but it is quite thick. As my hair base colour is a rich red/brown this kit gave me a bit of a fiery chocolate brown to strawberry blonde looking ombre. The Applicator brush which comes with this kit is do helpful! If made the application so much easier. The application really is all in the brush so make sure you keep it for another time when you want to use a cheaper bleaching kit. The hardest part of the application for me was trying to figure out if I had managed to reach the back of my head properly, and when putting the streak through my fringe (like in the picture on the box) as I put a little bit too much colour in it. I am really excited by my results as the ombre has really lifted the colour in my face, making me look less pale than I did with one dark colour. 1 box definitely has enough mixture for shoulder length hair as I did a horizontal application (bolder than vertical) and still had a bit of mixture left in the applicator bottle. If you are nervous or just want to be extra prepared just watch a whole lot of tutorial videos on YouTube. I think that the price of $17.99 is really affordable and it is awesome that you can just pick up the kit at your local Farmers or Countdown Supermarket. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes to do their hair at home and is looking for a more affordable option than at the hair dressers.

Tips: If you are going to go for the streak in the fringe, less is best. Also make sure you have some sort of hair oil or leave in conditioner to put in your hair afterwards, especially if you hair has previously been dyed. If you have shorter hair like me, you may also want someone to check that you have applied the colour evenly at the back of your head.

Salon Look At Home

When this product arrived I was really excited to try it as I had seen workmates with the ombre look and loved it. The packaging was very sleek and stylish. Everything in the box was easily identifiable, and the instructions easy to follow. I did check out a how to video online. I was as easy as just mix and combing your hair to apply. My hair is shoulder length so the effect was mainly towards the end section. I did seem to still have quite abit of solution left in the bottle. This probably due to having shorter length hair. Couldn't actually find anywhere in instructions just exactly how much of the bottle to apply. My hair did feel straw like once solution was washed off but once I used the shampooing condition it was fine. Apart from that is was easy as and my hair feels as it normally does. A salon look without the price tag.

Tips: Use in well a ventilated area. Do have someone check the back of your head just to make sure your application is even.

Loving the ombre.....

I started off by reading some info online and looking at a few youtube clips about how to best use the ombre kit - I was feeling fairly nervous about doing it so decided to enlist the help of my sister (after reading other reviews i'm glad I did). I really liked the look of the box, and the instructions included were nice and clear, and easy to follow (but I would still recommend watching a "how to" video the first time). Adding the powder and cream to the bottle was easy enough however the gloves while feeling very good quality wise would never have fitted my hands - my sister even found them very snug fitting. For the application of the solution we started at the ends, before moving up to about chin level - this gave the desired look of layered colour. The only concern with the application was whether or not all of the hair was being covered evenly, the brush certainly helped to ensure a good coverage. Thick hair really needs to be sectioned into small sections of hair. My natural colour is dark blonde/light brown, I checked the colour after 25 minutes and decided it was about the level I wanted it to be at. To finish off it simply needed the solution rinsed out with warm water and then applying the conditioning lotion (I was very impressed with the generous amount that was supplied). Afterwards my hair still felt a bit dry/damaged so I also applied some of my own product to help lock some moisture back into my hair. I have quite long, thick hair and was a little worried about there not being enough solution but was pleasantly surprised to find that there was even a small amount left over! Overall I love my hair, the look is exactly what I wanted and I would definitely use this kit again and recommend it to friends.

Tips: 1- Have a someone you trust on hand to help you out - or even better do the whole application 2- If you tend to get dry hair (or it is already damaged) have some hair oil or extra conditioning lotion on hand in case you need it 3- start at the tips of your hair and work up

Love it!!!!

Okay so I got this because I was a teeeeeny weeeeny bit jealous of all the awesome pics I saw popping up from girls who got to trial this, and I wanted it for myself; so I had to get it lol. I got Shade #2 on special at the supermarket for $15.50. Score!

The box itself is screams stylish and chic, yet wiiiiild. You get everything you need to ombrè your hair including detailed instructions and pictures. I opted to search youtube for a tutorial and found that much more helpful. It definitely set my mind at ease.

The gloves were probably my only disappointment with this kit. I have long fingers and the gloves were made for tiny hands. I actually ripped the gloves trying to put them on. I gave up and used a pair of disposable gloves of my own. The brush you get with the kit is what makes ombrè -ing your hair so easy; I literally put the crème on the brush and combed it through my ends.

My hair colour is dark brown. It is thin and fine, yet frizzy/wavy (unless straightened). It is also layered.

I found I had to leave the crème in my hair for a little longer than recommended in order to achieve the colour I was after (keep in mind my hair is DARK brown and this kit is intended for lighter brown hair).

The conditioner that came with the kit is a very generous 40ml. It has a nice soapy smell but I found once I washed it out of my hair, it left my hair feeling soft but smelling slightly of plastic (not sure if that was the conditioner of because of the bleach?)

The resulting colour of my ombrè hair is a light brown. And it looks brushed in and natural, not fake like in a straight line across the hair (if that makes sense?). I am also considering buying another kit and maybe adding more to get a lighter and streaky effect.

Overall my impression of this kit is TOTALLY AWESOME! For the price, the ease of use and the result, you really can’t go wrong! I love it and would totally recommend to anyone thinking of doing it.

Tips: If you are a tad worried about doing it, search youtube for tutorials, you can't go wrong!

Loreal Paris wild ombré DIY

My hair is a medium brown colour with no dye in it at the moment. I have long hair, down to the middle of my back. I used this at home, by myself...if I was doing it again I would definitely have someone else do it for me! Found it pretty tricky to do by myself, harder than regular hair dye as you're having to be a lot more specific with where you put the dye. It's especially tricky when trying to so the back of your hair and I was just having to guess where I was putting it and how even it was. Although the little brush they give you to apply the product is a good idea, I found I lost a bit of product because it dropped off as I tilted the brush to reach certain parts of my hair. I would think a little brush attachment that could fit onto the top of the bottle would be a good idea so you could just squeeze the bottle and it would come through the brush and then you wouldn't have to keep stopping to apply more product to the brush. I was expecting the dye to turn my hair a bit ginger as that's what normally happens when I use blonding supermarket dyes but this actually came out a nice colour, very similar to the picture on the box. I don't think I would use this again unless I had someone else doing it for me, as I just found it too tricky and because of that it just hasn't come out as good as I was hoping for, in terms of evenness and blending. But it does do what it says on the box. I think it would be a lot better for someone with shorter hair.

Tips: Get a friend to help!!

Wild Ombre #2

I have very long hair overall ombre was great I would definatly use this product again as I have done my own hair for years instead of going to a salon. The packaging is cool, easy instructions to follow. I liked the black gloves and the brush to apply the colour. I would suggest you watch you tube as to how to apply ombre. I am happy with the colour turned out caramel not blonde but also not orange as what I have read in other reviews, mine is streaking colour through my long hair so using 2 boxes would give you more coverage. At $17.99 it is cheap afffordable to do at home when your ready. Great product overall!!!! My hair is loving the conditioner with the ombre its so soft and smells good.

Wild Ombré Shade 2 Brown to Blonde

The packaging is very attractive, I'd look twice at it in the supermarket for sure :)

I was very nervous, my hair is quite dry on the ends and bleaching it seemed risky! I need not have worried thou, the included conditioner did the job nicely.

The brush is easy to use, but I'd also recommend watching the tutorials and even having a helping hand to get the back of your head even :) Happy with the end result too, it's not as light as I thought (my hair is quite dark) but still a definite ombre so I'm fine with it.

All in all, I'd recommend this product if you want to try out ombre at home!

Tips: Open all doors and windows - it's really strong smelling, made me quite light headed in my wee bathroom!

L'Oreal Paris Wild Ombre

I was nervous and not sure how easy it was going to be to use this product - as it turns out it is quite easy to use . The application is fairly easy and although it takes some time - I am quite used to this as I often dye my hair at home anyway. Unfortunately it didn't quite give the colour I was trying to achieve but I suspect that was due to the amount of dye already on the ends of my hair! It has lightened it but rather than a blond it is more of an orange!!! Still I like the effect so will leave it a few weeks before covering it over!!!

Tips: If you are wanting this look I would probably go to a professional - especially if like me you already have lots of colour on your hair and you are looking for a more dramatic effect!
