Elvive Extraordinary clay

I was so excited to be receiving this product to try. My hair will look nice the day I wash it but by the next day it looks greasy and dirty. I love the colour of this product and that it comes in a tub. First impressions when opening it were that it had a subtle but pleasent smell and looked like a body butter. The first time I used this was on a work morning as I was conscious of the time limit to review and wanted to get a couple of uses in in the week. So I was a bit rushed and didn't expect it to take so long to apply. you do need to allow a bit of time for this, it is fiddly and messy to apply. I had trouble getting coverage all over my scalp so just done as much as I could. I was quite surprised how easy it was to wash out though, expecting it to take forever. I followed up with the shampoo and conditioner and awaited miracles. The next day I did notice my hair looked a little better than usual but did expect a bit more to be honest. Day three my hair looked pretty much the same as it usually does and I felt it needed a wash again. I used it again on Saturday when I had more time to do it properly and it was a bit easier when not rushing. Today it looks OK so I'm hoping by tomorrow it will still look good. Overall I think this is nice to use once a week to give my hair a boost and a treat but so far I don't think it's done wonders for the oiliness.

Tips: Make sure you have the time free to use this product properly. I think it could be great for some people so if you have oily hair for this great price it's definitely worth giving it a try.

Maybe it just doesn't work for me??

I was sent this product by Beauty Review to try, along with the rest of the Extraordinary Clay range. It's a thin hair masque that is meant to decrease oil, if applied before the shampoo and conditioner for the same range. I personally don't feel that it removed a lot of oil for me, and it was a bit of an extra step, both to put in and wash out. I applied pre-shower to and followed it with the rest of the range. I found it a bit tricky to wash out, and I probably used a few extra minutes trying to do this before applying the shampoo. I'm going to give it a few more tries (both with this range and with my other products) and see if I get better results. I'll change my review if I find any more hacks or tricks.

Tips: Rather than standing in the shower with this in, try putting on before you get in - saves water!! I multitasked and washed my face and brushed my teeth with it in.

Love love love

I love this - I love the idea of a hair and scalp mask and I love the product.

Generously sized and a pretty good price point - this is definitely worth trying if your hair turns into an oily mess with in days of being washed.

The mask smells fresh and earthy(compared to the other products in the range) - the earthy I think is from the clay content.

Easy to apply to scalp, I just sectioned my hair a little bit - blobbed some on and massaged it around with my fingertips. After 5 minutes I jumped in the shower and rinsed it out. Followed by shampoo and conditioner.

I think this would be a great stand alone product - like if you normally use say a special shampoo/conditioner for blonde hair that's purple and removes brassy tones but you have pretty oily hair - a good compromise would be to use this mask first to soak up oil and then use your regular products - oil free roots and perfectly toned hair.

Clay Awesome!

I have very oily hair and I’ve never come across hair mask which targets oily hair, so I was excited to get chosen to try the L’oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Mask. It comes in a 150ml screw lid pot and it also has a lovely scent. The texture is thick and very clay like.

I followed the instructions written on the pot to apply it correctly, but it doesn’t say how much to use. Before I hopped into the shower, I scooped a little clay mask with my fingers and massaged it onto dry roots on my scalp. I did this with every section of my hair and left it on for 5 minutes. I found that even though the texture of the mask is thick, it was very easy to massage it into my scalp. Once I’ve given enough time for the clay mask to soak in, I washed it off in the shower in a massaging motion until the water ran clear.

While I was washing my hair in running water I noticed, the greasy and oily feel my hair had before I applied the mask was gone. I followed my hair washing ritual with the shampoo and conditioner in the same range. I’ve also used the shampoo and conditioner without using the clay mask and I found the clay mask makes a significant difference to the oiliness of my hair. I usually have oily hair within few hours of washing my hair, but since I started using the L’oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Mask my hair remained clean and oil free for 2 days.

Tips: Follow up with the L'oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay shampoo and conditioner for a long lasting oil free hair

Pleasantly surprised

What a gem this mask is & what great value for money. At just under $7 a tub it is a luxury most can afford.

Firstly the smell was just lovely, like walking into a hair salon, which surprised me because I think I expected it to smell more earthy due to the clay.

Another thing that surprised me was the texture, this felt alot more like a thick wet putty, rather than a cream..which is a good thing as it stops you from just digging your fingers in and wasting a handful.

As per the directions you need to apply to dry roots section by section until the whole scalp is covered than leave for 5mins before massaging and rinsing off and following with the shampoo and conditioner.

The result is definitely lovely light weight hair because the roots remain less oily for longer.

However I do need to add that it does work BEST when paired with the shampoo and conditioner from this range and sometimes that just isn't practical when rushing around in the morning after kids and trying to cram in a quick shower.

I will definitely buy this one again.

Tips: This is not a cure for oily hair, but a helps to prolong time before washing as the roots oily again slower.

L'Oreal Pre-shampoo Clay Mask

I'm not too sure that I am sold on this product. I think the best way to see how well this works would be to use it on it's own without the shampoo, but I didn't get around to trying that yet so might need to update my review once I have!

I do love the packaging of this and found it much easier to use rather than a lot of other hair masks which come in tubes, I like that this is in a pot with a lid because it means far less waste, which is always a thumbs up from me! The color of the packaging is really pretty and the mask inside the pot is of similar color which is nice.

I don't know why but I was quite shocked by the formula of the mask, it does say "clay" so I don't know why I was expecting something a bit thinner haha, but this was actually really pleasant and because it was a thicker consistency I felt like it seemed more premium. I found this pretty easy to apply as my hair isn't too thick, but I think people with thicker hair would probably need to apply this with some sort of brush maybe.

It took me a while to find the instructions as I just automatically thought they would be on the back, but they are on the lid under the label, the instructions were clear and easy to follow though. I popped it on and left it on my dry hair for around 5-7 mins and then washed it out and applied shampoo straight after, I found it came out of my hair pretty easily.

Overall, I don't think I would go and purchase this by itself, but would grab it if it came as a 2 for 1 type of deal.

Clay range mask

I was so excited to try this!!! Love the packaging and decent sized pot of clay mask. It smells great and was easy to apply. I think this product did help illiminate the oilyness on my scalp! I used this product along side the other clay products and they work well together. It does feel cold to apply to the head as you apply to dry hair, didn't worry me too much though. I'm not sure I'd especially go out and purchase this product unless it was on sale or came free with one of the other products as I think it would get a little costly to buy as well as they other products. I do think it would last about the same as the shampoo and shampoo as you apply to all of the roots.

Tips: Best used along side the other clay range

L'Oreal Pre-shampoo Clay Mask

I was excited to try the mask before using the shampoo and conditioner from the same range, and was hoping I'd finally have found a solution to my oily root problem! Unfortunately this wasn't the product for me. I was unsure if I was to use it on dry or wet hair as the instructions were brief. I also found it hard to wash out. On the brightside, I was expecting a brown product, so was happy when it was a white creamy texture, and it also smelled great

Clay hair mask

I really liked the clay mask packaging, I think the teal colour is very nice. I also like how it comes in a tub instead of tube. I always prefer face and hair masks in a tub as I find it is easier to get out and use up all of the product.

The clay mask is a creamy and thick textured item, like a thick body moisturiser. Other clay based products I have tried do not have a very nice scent to them but this one was very nicely scented and smells very fresh.

This mask is to be used before shampooing your hair, it says to cover your entire scalp at the roots with this mask then leave for 5 minutes before rinsing off in the shower then follow up with the shampoo. It is meant to absorb excess oils and dirt in your hair to help make it fresher.

I found this product quite difficult to apply as I am not use to using hair masks. I tried to apply it all over the scalp but got quite messy. It does rinse out very easy in the shower, I was surprised how quickly it did rinse out and was expecting it to take a lot longer to rinse out. It was hard to tell if this improved my hair and whether on its own it really makes a huge difference to my hair if I didn’t use the other items with it.

Tips: The instructions are on the lid underneath label and make sure to be wearing something that you can easily take off so you don't get the mask everywhere!

Pre-shampoo Clay Mask for Oily Roots

I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this range thank you BR. I have very oily roots so was eager to see if this could make a difference. I typically have to wash my hair every second day.

This product comes in a round pottle with a screw lid. Its a really good size. The scent is strange but not horrible. The consistency is a thick light grey clay looking substance.

Before i hoped into the shower, i scooped out a small portion with my fingertips, I gently massaged onto my scalp (do in sections if your hair is thick) and left for the recommended five minutes to absorb any excess oils.

The clay dried and I jumped into the shower. While I was rinsing, I gently massaged my scalp again. I felt like it took awhile for the water to run clear.

My fair felt lovely and silky. I would highly recommend this product. I used it once per week (three times so far) and the pottle will last awhile so great value for money.

Tips: I have a old foundation brush that I applied it with as well as my fingertips
