I really like this and it works really well. It only takes me 10min to curl all of my hair, and my hair is long. The only problem I have with it is at I have alot of hair and constantly get it stuck in the curler and struggle to get it out. I am sure that this is my impatience but it would be great if there was a reverse button!!
Tips: Dont put big sections of hair in, it will get stuck!
I have now had two of these.
The first one broke the first day I had it. I decided this may just be bad luck so went back and had it replaced.
I have medium/long hair which is often frizzy so I always blow wave before i use this. Even with doing that my hair often still causes the machine to not feed properly.
I find the curl size is a little small as i like slightly larger curls and i also find it makes the top of my hair go very frizzy.
Overall it does create curls as it says, however I feel the remmington perfect curl is a lot more fool proof and easier to use (and faster) than this wee machine.
Tips: Make sure to use a lot of styling product as these fall out easily - i use pantene soft curl at the moment, however sunsilk has an amazing curl spray I cant seem to find anywhere anymore!
I bought this after watching some online reviews & reading some of the ones below, and honestly don't really think its all that great. I have very fine medium length hair just below my shoulders and yes, it curls the hair, but the design of the tool isn't for me. Only being able to hold it one way is annoying, basically means that I have to wrap my arm right around the other side of my head to do the back, & lose sight of the mirror & where you hair is going-which could be pretty bad, and almost was that bad for me at one stage.
If you want to do thick curls, then this tool is not for you, as you can't use thick pieces of hair in the barrel.
No matter what products or treatments I did before using the curl secret my hair always felt coarse afterwards, even using the lowest heat setting.
This tool would be a lot easier to use with long hair that can be swept over the shoulder & curled in the front, so I'll give it another go in a year or so when my hair is longer, but right now its going into my storage bin under my bed.
Tips: If for whatever reason your hair does become stuck in the barrel- pull the cord out of the wall immediately to prevent your hair from being burned off!
Any loose hair gets wound up and stuck in the curling barrel, nothing grosses me out more than a ball of hair and that’s what the inside of this curler ends up looking like. I also found it quite hard to coordinate as the curler only works if you put on side of it to the side of your head. And it is hard to get the curls rotating in different directions. I find it much easier to use a standard curling rod.
I nearly purchased this for my daughter after watching all the advertisements on TV but then my niece over from America for the Xmas holidays said that there were issues about people burning their hair so I decided against it because my daughter who is a little on the careless side would surely make that mistake. She still wants one but I think I will wait for the next generation and see if they improve that burning issue.
I was so pumped to buy this curler for so long, until I used it...! For me this was a major fail, it just didn't work in the way I had hoped! Sure the demos on tv looked amazing, but when I used this want to curl my hair the curls were tight, twisted, and UGLY. Sold it for half the price I had paid the next week. Personally, I just hated everything about it. If you are looking for a life changing curling wand, try any NuMe wand, they are the bomb!
Having never owned any other curling irons I don't have much to compare this too but I know for sure this is much safer and won't burn you unless you actually stick your finger into the chamber! This creates really natural curls and there are 3 settings so you can choose what sized curls you want and it does it for you automatically which is AMAZING!! I've had my hair stuck in it ONCE and that was only when I was in a rush to get it done and forgot to brush through that strand of hair.
Tips: For hair that's hard to keep curls in, like mine, I use a texturising and heat protectant spray beforehand and after the beep I keep the hair in for a FEW seconds longer and after it's cooled I brush it out slightly then use a strong holding hairspray.
