I really love the concept of this curling wand. It has a little chamber that takes a section of your hair and curls it in seconds. It's very fast and easy. The only negative is that it only does small curls as it can't hold a large section of hair (I have long thin hair, it may be different if you have shorter hair). The curls are also quite spirally, so you have to play around with the curls to get them how you want

This curler creates the most adorable little ringlets. It's perfect if you're wanting a brushed-out/wavy kind of look. It works well on really long hair, surprisingly.
Tips: Only does one size of curl. I found hair would sometimes get stuck if you put too much in.
This is fantastic for small curls, but my hair gets caught in a at times as its so fine. It is alot slower than with a GHD due to the smaller sections of hair to be done, but if you have time and love tight curls this is the product for you
Any loose hair gets wound up and stuck in the curling barrel, nothing grosses me out more than a ball of hair and that’s what the inside of this curler ends up looking like. I also found it quite hard to coordinate as the curler only works if you put on side of it to the side of your head. And it is hard to get the curls rotating in different directions. I find it much easier to use a standard curling rod.
I’ve always struggled with curling my hair, whether it be curling tongs, hair straighteners or non-heating hair curlers. I just couldn’t get the curls right and my arms would get sore trying to figure it out, that I eventually give up. I was so ecstatic to find out that there’s a hair tool which makes curling simple and easy. I treated myself to getting the VS Curl Secret for my birthday. I got it for a bargain, buying it brand new for $90. It comes safely packaged in a cardboard box and includes a cleaning prong to remove any hairs inside the curler. The curler is a deep purple colour and unlike any other curlers out there.
The curler is clearly labeled where to and where not to place the hair strands for curling, for a newb like me I found it extremely helpful. Firstly, I used heat resistant spray on my hair and I brushed my whole hair. I also, brushed every section of hair before popping it into the curler. I placed small sections of hair, about 2cm in width into the curling socket and gently pressed down on the top part. It’s amazing how the curler reels in the hair itself to curl, I let it sit for 3 seconds before unclamping and loosening the hair out. It’s important to make sure to use small sections and brush the hair, otherwise it will get stuck in there and it will start beeping if this happens. If this happens turn off the curler, so it doesn’t continue to heat your hair. It was easy to untangle it though. The curler was so easy to use, and I managed to get through all my hair in about 10 – 15 minutes even though I have long hair. The curls were soft, and I loved how it turned out.
I recommend it to anyone who has trouble curling their hair as the VS Sassoon Curl Secret makes the whole process a breeze. The price can be expensive in certain shops, but if proper research is done, there are many places out there that sell it for cheaper, such as Trade Me, Onceit and 1-Day. So, keep a look out.
Tips: Make sure to use heat resistant product and brush the hair before using the curler.
I finally purchased one after wanting it for years and I have zero regrets! I have fine hair, and there isn't a lot of it either so I was sceptical that it would actually work without chewing up my hair.
It works!
I had beautiful, well formed curls that lasted really well! I was so excited to finally have curls in my hair!
It's super easy to use, I watched a few youtube clips so I could figure out what I was doing. The instructions are easy to follow but I prefer being able to see what they are talking about.
Tips: Use small sections, like really small. If you do get a tangle, turn it off at the wall and work the hair out as gently as possible by unwinding it.
Use heat protector spray, not even kidding. It definitely helps protect your hair because it seems very hot.
Brush each section before curling it, if any knots are in there it will either refuse to curl or jam. You don't want a jam!
This curler is so fast and time efficient! As someone who has really long and thick hair, it really cuts time off my morning routine. The curler itself is really good at holding a curl as well, which is good because my hair struggles to hold a curl. The downside of this product is the fact that it wraps your hair inside the barrel, and therefore, I can only curl small parts of my hair at a time. Occasionally my hair gets stuck in the barrel, if I put too much hair in, and then it is really hard and damaging to get out. Another thing I like about this curler is the beep that goes off on the timer, so your don't over heat the curls, and the fact that the curler, curls every other curl in an opposite direction, so you don't end up with all the curls the same.
I love changing up my hair from curly to straight but I cant seem to get the curl from the straightening iron right and curling tongs just end up with me having blisters (grabbling the curling iron at the wrong place) and sore arms (I have a lot of hair - fine but a lot)
When I saw the Curl Secret advertised it just seemed too good to be true. I took to YouTube and was impressed by the "at home demonstrations". So when it was on sale I bit the bullet and bought one, took it home and unpacked the beauty.
The look of the Curl Secret is stylish and I love seeing it sitting on my bathroom shelf. It comes with a cleaning tool to remove product buildup in the device but since I don't use product on my hair I haven't used this (I know! I should be protecting my hair from heat). The unit is a bit top heavy and I was a bit worried about using it for a period of time - tired arms.....
The first time I used it I expected to battle and not get it right the first time but as long as you comb your section of hair first and don't try to put too much hair in in one go the only other thing you have to worry about is following the instruction on the unit to hold the right end to your head.
The results: gorgeous, magical curls!!!! The different heat and time settings mean I can control the tightness of the curls from spring curls to beach waves. You can do every bit of your hair or alternating top sections to get a tousled look.
Main annoyance: you can only do small sections at a time, if you do too much it just refuses to wind the hair or it feels that it is going to jam and it stops.
Great Feature: When I first saw it wind in the hair I was convinced that my hair would be sucked in, knot, get stuck and burn off. The Curl Secret will not wind if your hair isn't going in smoothly and freely. It will not get stuck!
I love this and have used it on my hair passed shoulder length and a long bob and both work well although with longer hair you have to curl from further down the strand so that you are not putting too much hair in the unit.
Tips: Make sure your hair is completely knot and tangle free or it won't accept your hair.
Only feed in small sections or it won't accept more hair than it can safely wind.
If your hair is longer start further down the strand - this will also keep the curl in longer.
- you don't have to curl every strand, it depends on the look you want to achieve.
