Lady Jayne Salon Pro Rechargeable Straightening Brush

I have fine hair- long and not really really thin but definitely not a lot of hair. I find this brush just doesn’t do anything for my hair, it’s also lightly curly so it just kinda poofs up when brushed. I had to hold the hair with tension to get the heated areas of the brush to connect with the hair at all. The cordless is great! Really enjoyed that. It felt sturdy and had a good weight to it. Didn’t snag at all, no little hairs getting caught in anything. I think my thought process was if I’m going to put heat on my hair and potentially damage it, I might as well use my straightener because it’s about the same amount of effort in the end

I was really excited to see the invite for this product. I had been looking at a more expensive version of this product for some time - anything that sells being a bit quicker and more convenient I’m all after. I particularly liked the idea that you could take this on the go - and use when I take my daughter to swimming then head to work afterwards.

There are two buttons on the product - one to turn it on and one to change the temperature. Great if you have particularly thin or damaged hair to be able to amend that. I also like that it comes with a wee bag for taking it with you. When you receive it you do need to charge it for three hours and you can’t use it when it is on the charger.

I have reasonably thin hair in a long bob - I like to wear it quite straight. I also have quite a few fly aways with post baby hair loss growing back in. I did watch the video on their website of how to use it - hilarious showing someone with already straight hair running it through their hair. I also note that they have a lot of five star reviews on their site. On a positive note it does heat up really fast, and being cordless is fantastic. I managed to get the major kinks out of the middle of my strands of hair but struggled to control my ends and I found it didn’t smooth my hair very well. My hair looks somewhat straight, but still frizzy. You especially can’t control shorter pieces of hair like the ones I have framing my face. The basics are that this doesn’t work for me - But maybe if you have longer hair this could work better.

So my dreams have been dashed a wee bit with this - but I’ll keep trying it and let you know if it ends up being user error.

My hair is thick. Enough for two heads of hair thick. Wavy, dry and medium length (sits just a bit under the armpits). It is the type of hair that frizzes at the slightest hint of humidity, even when straightened so the idea of a tool that fits easily in my bag or glovebox? AMAZING! This straightening brush is pretty adorable! from its sleek matte black soft-touch finish with beautiful copper accents, to its size (approximately 20cm long x 4.5cm wide and 5cm from bristles to back). I appreciate the option to choose heat settings (120-200 degrees celsius), the metre-long charging cable and the little storage pouch to keep it safe in my handbag though I do wish this was heat resistant. The brush itself works well and does come up to temperature pretty quickly, I do wish there was some kind of signal to let you know when it reaches temperature such as a beep or this being when the red light turns solid. It is very comfortable to hold and does a reasonable job of smoothing out my hair ends if I haven't done any other heat styling or if I only need to straighten a few smaller sections. During the last 3 days of trialling this brush, I decided to try a keratin straightening treatment, this is where I felt the brush really shined for me. I'd let my hair air dry and it would still have a bit of light waviness and minor frizz, this brush smooths out and straightens my whole head in less than 5 minutes which is awesome!! Overall, this is a really handy item to be able to take on the go but don't get it thinking it will act as a stand-in straightener if you have thick or long hair.

This definitely makes life 10x easier, it states that it styles on the go and that it fights frizz and I would say that is absolutely correct, the only problem I encountered is that the brush is the exact same length as my handbag, I am not a large handbag woman so I did find the 'on the go styling' to be not as convenient as I was expecting, however, it still made my life so much easier and saved me so much time. The packaging is very sleek and the brush itself is velvety smooth and surprisingly light, the combination of black and rose gold is very elegant. It comes with a little velvet storage bag which I found super helpful to protect the bristles but also to hold onto as I couldn't fit the brush itself into my handbag. Before you start, you need to charge it for three hours straight, which was fine as I put it on charge before I went to work and it was ready to go when I got home, it's then very simple to use, you basically do the same thing you would when straightening your hair with a flat iron you just divide your hair into sections, then you just slowly brush your hair. I found using the hairbrush to do the initial straighten of my hair pretty good, my hair was certainly smoother and less frizzy, and it also had more shine, however, the very ends of my hair didn't really straighten, and I was left with a strange half straight, half curly look. In saying that, using the straightening brush on the go after I had already straightened my hair with my usual flat iron was a dream, it was super handy to take everywhere with me, it would have been handier if I could have put it in my handbag, but it was still easy enough to just carry around with me and either leave on my desk at work or in the car during trips. It meant I was always able to have quick little touch-ups throughout the day and didn't look like a hot mess after being out in the wind. I also found that even though it was able to leave my hair shiny, I didn’t end up with greasy or oily hair, which can happen with some flat irons. It's super easy to use, you just press and hold the power button and then use the larger button to select your desired temperature, the brush heats up quite quickly but isn't so hot that you will burn yourself, I was able to have it on the hottest setting and still wrap my hand around it and hold it without any discomfort whatsoever, this is great for when you are in a hurry because you don't need to wait for it to cool down before grabbing it and going. As much as I didn't find the brush to be better at doing the initial straighten of my hair, I did find it beneficial to quickly run over my hair with after I had used my flat iron as the brush was able to get in and straighten the roots of my hair that are generally missed by the bulky plates of a flat iron. Overall, I would absolutely recommend adding this to your beauty arsenal if not for the less fizz and extra shine factor, then certainly for the convenience and portability factor.

If you're looking for a brush that you can use on the go - something that will smooth out your hair before going out on the town after work, or something that can keep your hair looking good between blow dries - this is it.

If you're looking for a brush that will actually straighten your hair from a rather curly state, this is not it.

Pros: I liked the weightiness, the handle, the design. The travel bag was a great touch. I liked that it heated up quickly and absolutely did smooth my hair, and in that case I have to rate it accordingly.

Cons: Initially I saw this as a straightening brush so figured it would straighten my curly-ish hair from the get go. It did - after a lot of work. But it wasn't the smoothest straightening, and the battery ran through quickly using it for this method of straightening.

I will absolutely use this again, I think it's a handy tool to have on hand so long as you know it's more of a touch up tool rather than a tool to give you that salon straight look.

So, this isn't going to replace your straightening irons - at least not if you have thick hair like me. But it is such a nifty on-the-go tool that polishes your hair with a quick run through and revitalises your straightened 'do.

I love the look and feel of the brush. It's comfortable to hold and intuitive to use.

It easily tames frizz, and if you hold your hair taut while running it down the length, it smooths and noticeably straightens it.

It's easy to charge and has a good range of heat settings. It is very compact, not like those paddle straightening brushes of yesteryear.

I think this is the perfect tool for those that travel a lot, suffer from hair frizz during the day, or often need to go from day to night

This is such a neat product! It's small, compact and light; easy to hold and wield!

It's easy to use, turn it on, select the temperature and let it warm up. Then you just brush it through, holding the tips of your hair taut as you go.

I have a bob that I straighten once a week after washing. By day 4 its normally looking untidy but I cant be bothered re-straightening it usually. This brush fills the void, it's quick to run through and leaves hair smooth, frizz-free and so shiny!

If you're like me and love super sleek hair, but also...live in Auckland, then you'll know the daily battle to keep frizz at bay! No matter how much time I spend straightening, what products I use, by midday my parting is starting to frizz. By 3pm it's game over. And 3pm is not the end of my day!

I've been charging this up at night and popping it in my bag in the little velvet pouch.

I find as a touch up, just running it through my hair is enough. I don't need to actively try to 'shape' or hold my hair tight.

I think this is such a nifty tool - it'll be perfect for overnighters and long days.

I'd have never thought to buy this myself, but gosh I'm so glad I got selected for this trial team. I will be recommending this to everyone!

When it arrived I was pretty excited, I opened it, it was a great travel size but also not too small either so would still efficiently do the job, or so you would think. Presentation wise, I was sold but after switching it on it all went downhill. It took forever to heat up compared to other products on the market, and after 15minutes I don't think it would get any hotter. It certainly wasn't the 200 degrees I had selected on the temperature controls. I started using it and quickly noticed a very frizzy finish. It did not smooth the hair at all. As for straightening, it missed the mark there too. It was like a Luke warm hard brush that didn't really serve much purpose. I didn't section my hair properly, only with my fingers but I honestly don't think it would have made a difference. The brush didn't heat up enough to style the hair. Honestly when I first saw it I thought this is perfect I won't have to buy new straighteners or adapters when I travel it will be my best friend with USB charger. But no my dreams were shattered. I guess the technology needs more development.
