I have to say I was a little skeptical about the claims of matching most skin tones. I have enormous trouble matching generic foundation or BB cream with my tan olive skin tone with greenish hue undertone. Normally I have to buy several shades and blend them together to achieve what I need. The downsides to this method is heavy caked make up, and sometimes I luck out and look like an Oompa Loompa, or Casper the ghost. This BB cream is lightweight and pigment coverage is sheer enough to compliment and work with my skin tone and the appearance is enough to substitute in place of foundation (or in my case blend of several foundations). The only thing I would mention is that it has been unusually muggy these past few days since I have been trialling this cream my face has been ultra shiny, sweaty and gross. So, I am not sure what the ultimate finish would be like under normal weather conditions but based on my experience I would think this product would be a good all round performer.
I liked the clean light packaging, but being white it would get grubby quite quickly tossed in a make up bag. That might not mean much to most people, but I am a visual person and like pretty things so I would probably be endlessly cleaning the tube to keep it looking smart.
As far as BB creams go. It's on par with most. The colour matching magic is great. But in my experience with other BB creams the available tones are usually limited to one, or two and they perform similarly well.
This cream is more suited for enhancing a natural clean, even and clear skin look. I would recommend it and I can't wait to try it out on a less humid day to see how it wears.
So my expectations of this universal BB cream were that it'd be kind of like a blur cream/softening primer.
The tube is classic Garnier BB style, a nice tight lid, easy to dispense product. It's functional and looks nice, what more can you ask.
The product is white when it comes out of the tube - this cemented my expectation that it was going to be a primer type cream. I was wrong.
As soon as you begin to work the product into your skin, be it your face or the back of your hand, it begins to change shade. As you continue to rub and blend it disappears into your skin, leaving you with that 'you, but better' look. Very noice!
You do need to blend well, I recommend using a beauty blender or your fingers, a brush doesn't really work. And don't forget to blend down your neck and maybe even any decolletage on show.
I found the BB cream really moisturising, which means if you're heading out overnight somewhere, you could get away with just using this in the morning, rather than packing your whole skin care regime!
The effects of this BB cream are a luminous finish that makes your skin look natural, but the most awesome natural it could be. Its not going to hide big imperfections or blemishes, but it will soften them.
Price wise I don't think you can moan, especially as it will last ages.
Tips: Blend, blend, blend.
Start with the less is more approach and add more product if you need to.
