YSL Black Opium the feminine fragrance by Yves Saint Laurent – new glam rock fragrance full of mystery and energy. An addictive gourmand floral with notes of Black Coffee – for a shot of adrenaline; White Florals – to instantly seduce; and Vanilla – for sweetness and sensuality.

I received a sample of this at Myers in Australia. Personally I cannot find any resemblance to the original Opium in this fragrance whatsoever. To me this scent smells like a love child of Black XS, Flower Bomb and Jovan Black musk. A fruity-patchouli. I was worried when I saw coffee mentioned as a note as personally I don't want to smell like a beverage but I didn't notice it. I did get some berry notes, leather/suede, burnt sugar and patchouli but nothing wowed me about this. The bottle on display was also covered in glitter which personally I found quite tacky. I would have expected that this may have had a more oriental base hence it's association with the original but like the Belle variant which was released a couple of years ago this is a completely different scent geared towards a modern audience. Too overwhelmingly sweet and burnt sugar smelling for my nose. If you delve in expecting a scent like the original opium you are bound to be disappointed.
