Minty madness

This is one of the products that started my Lush obsession. A few months back everyone on the forum was talking about lush and the bath bombs and well curiosity killed the cat.... No no it didn't it's killed my bank balance actually.

It comes in the lush trademark black tub and the actual mask smells minty but it also has a bit of an earthy smell with it. So I smother this mint mask all over my face and holy moly it has a huge cooling effect it is very refreshing. I don't store this in the fridge but I could imagine it would cool the face even more not that I think it needs it. I wait 20 minutes then wash it off it comes off easily in warm water and my face still feels a bit cool my skin looks tighter and fresher.

It says says that it's a face and back pack suited for spots. I had a bit of a breakout on my chin had me looking like dotty wot arrgh hormones!! So instantly thought.... Its moments like these you need minties (sorry I get carried away turning things into songs or TV ads) and applied it to my spots and it diminished the red angry spots and they weren't as inflamed and definitely helped clear them up faster. A great face mask for refreshing your face or banishing spots

Acne Essential

I used the Lush Mask of Magnaminty for two years whilst suffering from hormonal break outs and full blown acne. There was nothing I could do to stop the blemishes forming, but the Mask of Magnaminty did a brilliant job at significantly minimising the blemishes and hurrying them along. I have tried many face masks, and this one has the fastest, most visible results.

The mask itself is thick, green and rough. It spreads reasonably easily over the face, but it does use quite a bit of product because of its thickness. This isn't a gentle mask, as the peppermint can be a little overwhelming. It's incredibly cooling and cleansing, but back away now if you have sensitive skin. I leave this mask on for 5-10 minutes, but it isn't a mask you can sit back, relax and forget about. However, it is incredibly effective. I rinse the mask off with warm water and a face cloth and my blemishes are instantly smaller, my pores are tiny and my skin feels fresh and smooth. This mask beats Glamglow, and every other mask I have tried for shrinking blemishes. Lastly, this is from Lush, so it is handmade, cruelty free and has no nasties.

I recommend this mask to anyone with break outs or acne, but not sensitive skin. It would also give anyone's skin a deep clean, but other than deep cleaned skin, it would have no other benefit for someone without blemishes. I personally no longer use this mask, simply because I rarely breakout and this mask does expire, so I don't have get enough use from it.

Tips: If you only break out in a certain area, apply this mask to that area rather than the whole face twice a week, and to the whole face once a week, to save product. Also save your empty pottles to get a free face mask.

the Cosmetic Warrior fresh mask is amazing for acne, if you can get past the garlic/wet dog smell lol.

For a refreshing minty mask

After hearing/reading the amazing reviews on this product, i was actually shocked that this seemed to be a product that i had consistenctly walked past in Lush without a second thought. Well not anymore, i picked one of these up recently because the reviews made it impossible not too.

I wont bore you with the details about the packaging (okay maybe a little), but it comes in the same black screw top container that all lush masks comes in. Its also part of the recycling scheme where 5 containers get you a free face mask when returned to Lush stores, so that's a great benefit of recycling.

If you don't like Mint, close this browser and stop reading this review because this mask is just full of minty goodness. From the second you open this container, to the moment is applied to your face its just mint, mint and more mint. Don't get me wrong, its not over powering, and it doesn't make my eyes water. It just smells minty, and refreshing.

The colour of this mask is green, and i would describe it as a thick paste, with chunks of either primrose seeds, of the aduki beans spread throughout (not sure which one it is), but i find it provides a lovely texture to the mask, and provides a gentle exfoliation to my sensitive skin which i loved.

Because of the thick texture, i do find it a little tricky to spread the mask out in a nice thin layer, but its not impossible.

So does the mask do what it says? It definitly gives my skin a gentle exfoliation, and it makes me seem fresh and it smells oh-so-good. But it did struggle to remove the deep blackheads from my pores so it doesnt get a tick for that one (but then nothing ever really does).

Overall a decent mask for Lush, and one that is worth a try!

Mask of Minty Goodness

This is my first lush buy for myself, I was specifically looking for a mask and this caught my eye online. I work around the corner from a Lush branch so popped in and picked it up.

When I sniffed this in store I couldn't smell much but I got a whiff of mint but there were also a lot of background smells from the Easter campaign. Once home, you could definitely smell the mint, more spearmint than peppermint, and something else, not sure what it is but there is something else there. The mask itself is a grainy texture in green. Once on the skin it has a cooling effect, you leave it on about 5-10 minutes and then wet hands and scrub off. I think you could scrub first and then leave for 5-10 minutes as well if you wanted to reverse the options. After the scrub has been removed, my skin felt soft.

What I wish is that the grainy texture was a bit finer that the larger size it is at present. The small pot that it comes in should last about 5 masks depending on how much you use, I have done thick masks and I have done thin ones where I dipped a brush in and then wiped on my face to avoid getting exfoliant. This is a fresh mask but I had a 3 month expiry date on mine. I do think that I will be back for more of this at some point as I do like the cooling sensation.

Tips: On the pottle it does say face and body.

Lush Mask of Magnaminty

This is one of the most unusual masks I have ever used. That's not to say I don't love it, I do but it is a bit different. This is kept in your fridge, the peppermint oil loves that and will give your skin an amazing cool and clean feel. Perfect for summer nights. My skin feels so soft and super clean when I use this. Pop into your local Lush store and they will give you a sample to try, and I am sure you will be back to buy a whole pot it is that great. Font forget to keep an eye on the expiry date.

Minty!

The mask comes in a thick rough consistency which I find easy to apply. I put on a thick layer wait for a good 30mins for it to harden/dry. A good tip is to do it before a shower because it gets messy. I genitally wash it off with a flannel as well. If you love a minty smell then this is for you! It does the job and cleared my skin. Would use it again.

Lush Minty, DeepCleansing Scrub/Mask of Magnaminty

I thought this was a good size tub for the price. I do really like Lush products so seeing as this masque lasts longer than the other fresh masks I decided to get it. I like that this masque is all natural. Also as this masque dries I can still move my face easily and comfortably even though my skin feels a bit firmer or tighter. It has mint in it which is cooling not my fave but my skin feels like it's getting a deep clean and the mint does smell refreshing. I have used this when my face was breaking out a bit and did help to calm the breakout the next day. This masque could double as a scrub as well. The main thing about this scrub that makes it not a fave with me is that it has big particles in it I don't know if it's the primrose seeds or aduki beans but the particles are a rougher than I like in scrub. Because of that I can only use this mask once a week because more often than that it's too strong my skin. I do also like to rinse off mud and clay masks instead of using a face towel to save on laundry and this mask isn't as easy to rinse off and leaves a bit of a mess around the sink, although it does come off much easier in shower. I think this mask does also make a nice body scrub if you want to shell out for the larger pot. This would be ideal for those that get acne on their back as a generous sized pot wouldn't be used up too quickly. I'm not sure if I would get it again just because the particles are a little bit bigger than I like in a scrub but other than that it’s a great product.

Tips: If you have breakouts on your body this is a good body mask. Also makes a nice body scrub. It takes about 10-15 minutes to set/dry although it doesn't dry completely. I like to wash my face before getting in the shower, pat my face dry and apply this and wait for it to dry before I have a shower as the warm water softens it and in the shower I can easily remove it and the mess is rinsed down the drain.

Lush.

As part of a recent Lush order I did, they threw in a generous sample of this mask. I hadn't tried it prior to that and was looking forward to giving it a go, particularly because it has exfoliating particles in it.

This mask is a thick green paste with small gritty parts in it. It smells like mint and feels extremely cooling on your skin upon application. The texture is really thick so it takes a little bit of work to get it into your skin.

I like to use a brush to apply this all over my face and I leave it on for around 30 minutes. Then I rinse it off with warm water and moisturise as per usual.

After using this the redness in my face looks less extreme and my face feels extremely clean and fresh. My skin doesn't feel dry during use or after using it either.

I love how this feels while this is on my face and after. My skin feels super clean and renewed. I will definitely be purchasing this when my sample has run out.

Mighty Mask

Mask of Magnamity was my first ever Lush purchase and still remains one of my most-favourite. It's deep-cleaning claims sounded just what I needed for my acne-prone, oily skin and I love a good clay mask.

It comes packaged in the trademark Lush black pottle. For those unfamiliar with them they have a secure screw-top lid which is great for protecting the mask from moisture and air if you store them in the bathroom. The tub is a generous size and contains a whopping amount of product, I didn't manage to get through mine before it expired. I actually used it for some time after it expired without any detrimental results, just keep an eye on it and if it looks funky, biff it!

The mask itself is thick and green, with a rough texture and a nice minty smell. When applied it has an immediate cooling sensation which is refreshing, but this isn't a mask for sensitive skin. You can definately feel it working away as it tingles, deep-cleaning the skin and drawing all the gunk away. I leave it on until I feel it's dried, then rinse it off with warm water and a facecloth. I like to apply at night, then use a serum afterwards and I wake up with glowing, visibly clearer skin.

I'm not currently using this as i'm working my way through my Tailor mask and I don't like to use more than one clay mask at a time due to the expiry on the products. I would really recommend this for any acne-prone girl, but I've told friends with good or sensitive skin to stay clear as it can feel quite harsh on the skin.

Tips: The pottle has an expiry printed on the label. If you're a mask fan and have a few you use, or if you only do a face mask once a week or less, I'd recommend maybe splitting this with a friend who wants to try so that it doesn't go to waste before it expires. I have a friend who loves masks like I do and I give her decent samples of my Lush masks, and she'll lend me a mask to try, sharing is caring after all :)

Yet another epic effort from Lush

I found out about this product from the girls on the BR forum, and had to try it. I was given an unbelievably generous sample from Lush - enough for 5 masks! - and when it ran out I went and repurchased it.

I love Lush masks, always have, but it always irritated me a little that the fresh ones expire before you can use them up. WIth Mask of Magnaminty you have a self-preserving or standard option, both of which have a much longer shelf life, making them vastly more cost effective per use (although I still love and will continue to buy the other ones depending on the needs of my skin).

My skin is oily and when it gets grumpy it can break out or have wee red patches. It's much better now than it used to be, but oiliness is still an ongoing issue. This is great for my skin.

The mask comes in a very 'natural' green colour, with a strong smell of mint and darker green leaves (mint leaves?) in the lighter green base. It has a clay texture and is verey thick, but spreads reasonably easily.

When you apply this there is a strong 'minty' tingling sensation. It can feel very intense until it dries, but (unless it's super bad) persevere a couple of minutes as it always settles down for me. There appears to be a reaction when skin, air and the product first come into contact with each other.

As it dries, it darkens, and the reaction lessens. You can still smell the mint, but it stops tingling.

It dries to a rough texture, which can crumble off your face, so make sure you've a towel handy to lay over your knees! After the desired time frame (I usually go for 'half a Shortland Street' :p) the mask is ready to be washed off, and as you do it softens enough to become a nice cleanser/scrub.

This is an awesome product - it clears my skin, tightens, freshens and detoxifies it. It's a great pick-me-up and always makes me feel glowy and pampered. It's about $18.90 for the smallest size - I recommend getting the smaller one as Lush masks are super fresh and you're better off getting a smaller amount more often so that you're not playing expiration date roulette.

Also - as this comes in the classic Lush screw-top black plastic pottle, it's one that (if you collect 5 empties) can be traded in for a free mask eventually.

Tips: Go in to Lush and ask for a sample. They're so generous with these :)
