I love the packaging of the products - it fits with their range and you can tell that they are Rimmel products straight away. I really like how Rimmel seems the packaging consistent and just customises the colour of the range to suit each different use (in this instance orange for radiance makes sense).
The scent of the primer was quite strong - it reminds me of the Clean and Clear orange 'Morning Burst' cleanser. I quite like it and I think that is to do with the sense of nostalgia it gives, but if you are sensitive to scents it may be too much. I didn't notice the scent in the foundation or concealer.
When I first applied the primer, I noticed hints of shimmer on my face and it seemed to be showing up on some dry patches so I was a bit worried. Then I realised that it was only in my close up mirror that the shimmer was actually noticeable and really the overall look was just glowy, honestly no one would actually notice the particles of shimmer unless they were extremely close!
Once I added foundation, the shimmer in the primer wasn't noticeable at all. It is like adding the foundation tones down the shimmer in the primer but brings out the luminosity overall, which is great and what I assume Rimmel was aiming for.
The concealer blends really nicely. I like that when you take the wand out, there isn't too much product on it so you don't need to tab it round the entrance. However, I wasn't 'wowed' by the concealer. If it hadn't been given to me in the set, I don't think I would have considered it a 'radiance' concealer - it does a good job concealing but it didn't really radiate my under eye area. Instead of a concealer I would have rather seen a radiating primer in the range.
Overall, I was impressed by the range. The primer and foundation work really well together and for the first time I am seeing the benefits of using products from a range together (I used to think that it was purely a marketing gimmick). I was worried a 'radiance' range might just make my slightly oily face look oiler, but it really made me seem to glow without making me oily. I would purchase the primer and foundation again, but I'm not totally sold on the concealer (which works well enough) and that may be because the other two products are just so good.
I'm now a Rimmel convert- I love these products. If you're looking for a range that will increase your glow power then look no further. I know some people avoid walking the fine line between glowy and greasy but I for one love the dewy, radiant effect that this primer, concealer, and foundation achieves.
The primer is slightly tinted and shimmery but it is very subtle. So subtle in fact that if you're hoping for it to do much on its own then you might be disappointed. However, it does do a great job of actually priming your skin for further products. A fantastic base layer that is quickly absorbed but it's not a heavy silicone-based skin smoother.
The foundation has to be my favourite of the three. It blends flawlessly. I've had a break from foundations for the last wee while and this has been the best re-introduction to them. It actually enhances your complexion instead of sitting on top like a dull mask. It doesn't create the 2D, flat effect that my foundations in the past have. It doesn't achieve full coverage, but maybe with another layer, it would? My shade had just the right amount of warmth and the blend and consistency are so nice.
I found that the concealer works well for brightening my under eye shadows, but not as well for disguising imperfections. The formula is quite thin and for this reason, I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for fuller coverage. I also noticed that the concealer on its own didn't have the best longevity, but it was significantly extended in addition to the foundation. In saying all of that though, if you're after a dedicated undereye concealer and nothing else- this would be the ticket! It has the peachy tone which cancels out shadows.
Overall, a great range but depending on your needs, you might not purchase all three at once. I think I've found my HG foundation though so I'm pretty pleased with that! It's also made me wonder what other hidden gems are yet to be discovered in the Rimmel stand that I've previously overlooked!
Tips: One thing I didn't do was use a setting product, this could be worth investigating.
