To BB or Not to BB cream

I got a sample of this about a year ago when Oasis was giving them out for free. I got Bardot but it was far too light for me I gave it to my niece who enjoyed it. Then I saw Hepburn for sale second hand I had my fingers crossed that it would be a match. Unfortunately my skintone is far too dark for it. But I am mixing it with other foundations to bring the colour up to my tone.

Oasis is a well known kiwi brand that caters towards a skincare market. So many fellow beauty reviewers have rated this highly and so I wanted to get a feel for what this product is like.

Packaging: Comes in a beautifully labelled pump bottle. It has how to use on the back of it. On the front it has the Oasis labelling with Beautiful array of colours going down one side. Each pump of cream comes out easily and non messy.

Consistency- A thin to medium layer of product. Has a slight scent to it. I can't really describe it but I didn't like it.

Application- I like to use my brush and beauty blender with this. This product smooths over my skin easily. For light coverage two pumps. For full coverage I needed four to five pumps.

Results- This BB cream lasted me up to a minimun of Four hours and started to fade out for me. I did need to do touch ups with this. It didn't really do a full coverage for me. But typically thats what I would expect from a BB cream. Price wise its high, theres no way I would spend this amount on a BB cream maybe foundation I would. I had no skin irritations at all. Would I use it again , no because it cost too much for me to buy.

Didn't live up to the hype

I purchased this bb cream after it was been raved about by several members on here. Although I like this bb cream, I found that it didn't meet my expectations of the hype of this product. The coverage of this bb cream is a light coverage, which is what you would expect of a bb cream. However, a lot of people mentioned that this bb cream gave medium to high coverage, so I expected it to give my face more coverage than it did. It evened out my skin tone more, but you could still see my acne scars and blemishes and redness on my cheeks.

I have this in the shade Bardot which is the lightest shade. It's a little too light for my light-medium skin tone but I can get away with it. This shade also has more of a pink undertone when my skin has a yellow undertone.

The texture of this bb cream is very thick. I use a brush to apply this bb cream as its a bit hard to apply evenly when using fingers. The thick consistency makes it hard to blend. It has a matte finish but doesn't completely dry on your skin, so I always set my with powder.

This bb cream comes in a sturdy plastic tube in a cylinder shape. It has a pump which makes it easy to dispense the cream.

This bb cream is quite pricey. I do like the fact that it's NZ made, but for the price I can get something better, so unfortunately I will not be repurchasing this.

Get yourself a sample of Monroe - it provides much better coverage.

Great NZ product

I purchased my BB Cream when they were having a special and changing the label so i got it for about $39 instead of the full price. Which i think is a little too high. It comes in a easy to use pump tube and is a good sized product - 50ml I have the Bardot which is the light, mid coverage. I actually really like it, it has a nice creamy consistency and goes on your skin well, i do layer a bit more on when I'm using it before a day at work but if its a day off i just put a little on and its great. It last all day and pretty much sinks into your skin straight away. I use my fingers to apply it and it washes off them easy as. If its a work day i usually apply foundation over top of the bb cream and away i go but i did try a couple of days with just a mineral powder over top of the bb cream and it works just as well. If not a bit better as it feels nice and light on your skin. I love the fact its produced in NZ and is cruelty free and Oasis is a small company - if they keep producing great products like this they won't be small for long!

Tips: Grab it on a special which they do every so often as $49.90 is a bit high for a bb cream in my opinion but they do provide free samples with other purchases which is so cool :)

Not A Fan Like I Thought I Would Be

Picked this up in an online sale for about $10 (I think?) I have this in the shade Medium. I thought this would suit my skin tone but turns out it's still a bit light unfortunately. I can make it work so will continue to use it up. Thick BB cream type consistency (similar to the Skinnies Looks BB Cream) which i'm not too fond of. Can blend it out well enough with a flat top kabuki brush. It's average. Not bowled over by this foundation. I still prefer other products over this one that have had better results. Glad I didn't pay full price.

Good coverage, but the shades a limited

I love the packaging of the BB cream, its hygienic and the amount that is dispensed is controlled. However, the 2 shades provided is very limited for pink undertoned skin. If you have yellow skin or neutral skin tones, this BB cream is probably not for you. The texture does get a little thick on combination/oil skin as well. I would say this is a medium coverage.

Tips: Use a finishing powder that will help with mattifying if you have combination.oily skin. There is actually nothing much you can do with the pink undertone shades if you have yellow undertone skin.

Honey tint - mid coverage, dewy finish.

Anyone who has read my Reviews will know that I am a sucker for anything dewy, glowy, or illuminated! This product appealed to me based on the fact that it claimed to have a dewy finish. I honestly have to say that I am not sold on this product.. I don't necessarily look for full coverage in products.. But I do need the dew! This product certainly wasn't dewy on my skin.. It did give a slight glow.. But seemed to be more powdery in finish which just highlights all the flaws on my skin.. I also believe that BB creams should wear and feel like a moisturizer with some added coverage.. This slides off easily and barely gives any coverage. I do have to commend Oasis on their coloring though.. I am quite pale and find BB creams are either Gothic white on me or oompa loompa orange.. Had this product have been dewy without the powdery finish enhancing my flaws I think I would have been pretty impressed and had a product to work with. Not for me but I can see why others are impressed with the color!

Tips: More powdery than dewy. More tinted than mid coverage.

Furry Face?!

I'm not an experienced BB cream user, but I know I won't be becoming one anytime soon. I tried a sample of this in the 'Monroe' and the colour and consistency looked nice and silky, and a bit like lightly whipped cream. The colour blended into my skin, but didn't seem to cover anything. No, unfortunately it just made my face look FURRY. :/ I'm happy each ingredient is chosen carefully for specific reasons to benefit your skin, because I hate unnatural products and my skin is fussy too. But, there's no way I'd want to buy this because my skin, blotchy and dry as it is, looked better without it. The price of a bottle of this is also not very cheap. My skin is very dry and sensitive, and has eczema, so I think this BB cream just stuck to the dry patches and made it look worse. I think if you had oilier skin this could work pretty good for you. But, if you have dry skin like me, you might end up with a 'furry' face, as my sister said it looked like.

Tips: Might not be for you if you have dry skin. If you are wanting good coverage, I don't know if this is the one to go for.

Hit and Miss, Mostly Miss

Gosh darn it I really wanted to like this! I am such a fan of Oasis and usually my skin reacts super favourably to their products. I keep giving this more and more benefit of the doubt but I'm nearing the bottom of the bottle and I still can't love it, or even like it.

Let's start with what I do like. I love the ethos of the company. Oasis tick all of my boxes, local, ethical, natural, animal friendly, checkity check check check. I also love the pump dispenser. This is my favourite packing for things like this because air is kept away, you don't contaminate the product with your grubby mitts, and you can tell at a glance how much is left.

I also on rare occasions can get this to look half decent on my face. Unfortunately there seems to be no rhyme or reason to these times and I can rarely duplicate the results.

The majority of the time this product is a wierd oliy hot mess on me that makes me look dirty. It's hard to work with - a primer is a MUST. I use a primer normally anyway but I don't like feeling like I HAVE to use a primer if you know what I mean. I end up spending a lot of time going over areas and blending and re-blending trying to find a balance between too much coverage (looking dirty) and having smeary streaky bits. To me a BB cream should be a quick and easy everyday product and if I wanted to spend this much time on my base I would use a foundation. Do not try to use this with your fingers for me it was beyond disastrous.

I'm using The Bardot which claims to suit most complexions. As I said before sometimes it looks perfect but most of the time it's too dark. And not in a normal way that a dark foundation would look. It's weird, it makes me look dirty like I've been gardening in windy weather. Admittedly I am really pale but I don't go in the sun and religiously wear sunscreen so at least I am consistently pale so I can't understand such different results each time. It's like I'm supposed to shake the product but given there's no air in it this isn't possible.

The most unforgivable part though? It settles in wrinkles I never knew I had and gives me big dark lines. Who knew my neck was so wrinkly??!! *runs to invest in decolletage cream*. After a few hours I look in the mirror and more often than not there are dark lines across my neck. No other product has caused this for me ever.

I find the finish to be super oily even though I have mostly dry skin and I think it may be contributing to my recent breakouts. Because of this it also runs and I can't trust it to stay in place. I think a powder would help but again for me BB cream should be about ease of use and not require all these additional steps.

Average

I got this in their mystery box sale in shade light and while it’s decent I’m not blown away. I’m not quite sure why it’s called full coverage foundation as I’d say it’s more of a light coverage. It’s very thick and can be difficult to blend as others have said. I do however like that it has added SPF.

Tips: I like to mix a dot of this in with their sunscreen to add a wee bit of colour.

BB Cream!

I received a sample of this BB cream in the lightest shade and it was farrrrrrr too dark for my skin! I would have had to mix it with a much lighter product to get it to match my skin tone. It did however look like a really lovely formula but only if you have a darker skin tone! Because it is a BB cream it is not very effective at concealing or covering any skin tone issues/acne/pimples. It seemed quite dewy and definitely needs a nice finishing powder to set!

Tips: Set well with powder!
