Honest review from a Contour Junkie

In my search for the holy grail of contour, I brought the medium skin tone palette, which I was told by the consultant would be right for me; only to find the lighter highlight colours to be quite dark. The darker contouring colours were great, was awesome to have different shades to adhere to different parts of the face, and it blended quite easily. Overall an awesome kit for a great price!

Tips: Blend honey, blend!

Overrated, does alright job, better kits out there

I own this kit in the light version as I have pale skin. The kit comes in an attractive black palette with pink writing. I like that it includes a mirror which is very handy for travel. On the back of the palette there are simple instructions for contouring which I found quite useful. Highlight Shade 1 is a creamy peach shade. I find it useful for brightening my under eye area and highlighting the bridge and tip of my nose. I'm a pale girl, but I wouldn't consider myself abnormally pale, and generally light shades suit me fine. However I found Highlight 1 to be a little dark for my skin tone, and it required a lot of blending to look good, or me to use a slightly darker foundation. Highlight 2 is a banana powder, that I only really use for under eye circles but I find it way too yellow on my skin, and it oxidizes to be really yellow later. Highlight 3 is a peachy shimmery shade. I love the shimmer and wish there were more shimmery highlights included. However, it is even darker than Highlight 1 and I normally pack on the shimmery highlighters from other contour kits I've tried, but this just goes orange packed on. The highlights are quite pigmented and feel really buttery. I found they really didn't last long and I began to hit pan on two really quickly, as they are quite loosely packed. These don't have great staying power and oxidize and end up greasy within three hours or so (I do have oily skin but this is with setting spray and mattifying primers). I have barely used the three contour shades in this palette as they are just too dark for me. I am aware I am pale but these are so pigmented and difficult to blend, that I imagine even if I had darker skin, I still wouldn't be able to easily blend my contour. I have used other kits with darker contour shades and they blended fine so I could make do. The contour shades all have a subtle shimmer which I found odd. Whilst this is affordable, and I can try make do with it, I have tried cheaper contour kits that I found more blendable and easy to work with, so I'd definitely pick those over this one.

its all a bit average

Brought after recommendations to being a great kit for beginner to contouring. To be totally honest it was cakey, colurs weren't right and I was nothing but seriously disappointed. I don't recommend for the price as I've found others a tad bit more expensive but so much better for a girl who hasn't had the experiance in contouring

Highlighters useless for pale people

First of all, I quite like the contour shades, or more specifically; The middle contour shade. It seems to work as a good contour shade on my very pale skin and on many of my various skin-toned friends (The other two contour shades have been much too warm for everyone I know who has tried them). The big issue for me and many of my pale friends was the highlighters. The highlight shades are not highlighters at all as they either match, or are even slightly darker than our skintones, this is definitely not what you want in a highlighter. The upsides to this pallet are the middle contour shade and the banana powder, also the product is very pigmented. Overall this pallet has two good shades, which do not make up for the fact the product is hard to blend, highlighters are terrible for pale skin, and two contour shades are way too warm to look natural.

It's OK

I'd seen this palette around a lot and had been eyeing it up for a while before finally deciding to buy it. I did notice that it doesn't have a high rating on BR, but for the price, I didn't worry about that and wanted to try it anyway. I wasn't too sure whether to choose the light or medium shades, as my skin tone is inbetween light and medium. I decided on light, and i'm really glad that I did..

The contouring shades in this palette are super pigmented and quite dark for a light skinned person, jeeze you've got to be careful! All of the powders are super powdery, so your brush picks up a lot, way too much. Make sure you tap off the excess powder or you're going to be in a hot mess with these contouring powders, and once it's on it won't budge so again you have to be super careful, using little product and dusting very lightly.

In contrast to the contouring shades in this palette, the highlighting shades are not very pigmented. The effect is quite mild and natural looking with all of the highlighting shades.

As I said before about all of the powders being very powder/dusty, it makes this palette quite messy. After using it I always blow off the excess outside.

I don't mind this palette for the price, however I would have been extremely disappointed and annoyed had it been more expensive than it is. It's okay, I wouldn't say that it's good, but you know how it is if the price point is right, it'll do, you can make it work.

Must Practice More!

I have tried the (powder) australis-ac-on-tour-kit and would like to purchase the (cream) australis-ac-on-tour-kit. It is a great contouring palette and definitely have used a few times but I need more practice. Love the photo that I took which shows my contour. Would definitely recommend the australis-ac-on-tour-kit but would prefer the cream kit to beginners. The (powder) australis-ac-on-tour-kit is very hard to blend out.

Tips: Use a little bit at a time and add more as you go.

Good for some skin tones not all

I used the lighter to medium shade range of this palette as I’m sort of light to medium colouring. I found the contour shade muddy, the bronzer shade I was too scared to use on my face because it was quite powdery and I thought it seemed like it would blob onto my face. The banana shade was nice to set under eyes with but I found my skins undertone was already quite yellow so you could tell I had yellow powder under my eyes rather than just looking brightened. The highlight wasn’t bad and was nice for more natural days. All in all I won’t buy this palette again and probably wouldn’t recommend unless it suited your skin tone because it didn’t work for mine but who know it may work for others

Tips: If your skin naturally has yellow in it don’t use the banana powder under your eyes as you’ll be able to see it

Australis AC On Tour Kit

I loved the yellow powder which I used under my eyes rather than as a highlighter but other than that I haven't touched much of the other shades as they simply do not look right for me. The darker contouring tones are too dark, and super hard to blend to look really good. I found that because of how hard the contour shades are to blend that my face almost looked a little dirty rather than sleek. As for the lighter highlighting shades, they were completely ineffective as they couldn't been seen on my lighter complexion anyway. As far as being sold on a kit which is meant to be able to do everything for contouring I don't feel like it did that and I would still have to use other products to finish my look.

Tips: Start of light and build! If you put too much on, you're gonna have a bad time.

Difficult to blend

The shades in this palette would work best on light-medium skin, but as a super pale girl, I can use these during the summer and they look alright. My biggest issue with the formulation of these powders is how difficult they are to blend. The two matte highlight shades are lovely, but the shimmer is a little lacking in comparison to other drugstore highlights. I find the matte highlights look a little odd on my neutral pale skin so I mix them (one is quite pink, the other is a light banana powder). They end up looking like dirt on your face and otherwise give off a muddy look. The contours are much too dark for me by themselves but blended with a face powder they work. They are very difficult to blend alone, so applying with a light hand is essential.

Tips: Blend it a lot and make sure your foundation is properly set before applying.

Could be better

Packaging looks feels and is cheap, I could have looked past that if the product was better.. The grey tone is not nice on anyone and is too dead looking maybe useful for Halloween, sorry just not a fan of this product
