Shattered...

When these first came out I purchased almost every colour they had. I still have them and they are still usable, so I guess the shelf life of these is amazing. The down side is that they are hard to use. The shatter must be applied on top of a completely dry layer of nail polish preferably in a contrasting colour. If the shatter is applied to thick it will not shatter if applied to thin it will just coat the base colour and not shatter either. To add to that you need to do the whole nail in one sweep you cannot go over it at all or it does not work. A delicate fine line between fantastic and failure! When you get it right it looks great if you get it wrong it looks cheap and tacky!

Tips: Apply a clear top coat to avoid chipping and peeling.

Works a charm, pretty good

It works well and does exactly whats advertised, but I found it to be not very last-lasting and a bit tricky to apply

Thick

I used the shatter nail polish a few times. It was thick and kind of hard to apply. It did make the shatter look but it started to come off within a couple of days. I really liked the innovative style OPI has and I love their regular nail polish, however shatter looks like something for a teenager and to me looks dirty/cheep on older people.

Tips: Use a hair dryer to dry the polish faster. It also makes the cracks a bit bigger so you can really see the colour underneath.

Effective

I used to love using the Black Shatter to create new effects on my nails. I did often find it hard to make them "shatter" in the same pattern but that probably wasn't the point anyway. This polish did dry up in the bottle before I finished it but it lasted a while anyway! I definitely prefer OPI shatter over the cheaper shatter alternatives.

OPI Shatter

Apparently, I am like a bull in a china shop when it comes to OPI and nail polishes.

I LOVE OPI! But I dont pay attention to what I buy haha!

I accidentally bought a lovely silver OPI, was nice, understated but brings a bit of bling.

I loved it! Then it dried and shattered? Well, what the heck, I was NOT expecting that! You'd think that the brush lid would have given it away! But not to this blind eejit!

While I was expecting it, and it took a while to get used to, I really liked it!

Tips: Did you mean to buy this? YES? Excellent work already! But try putting it over a bright base coat first :-)

O.P.I Shatter

I pretty much have most of them and some are better than others. I love the glitter ones they go on nicely and are not too runny compared to the plain coloured ones. After a while the silver shatter started to thicken and was unusable but before that was really nice.

Tips: Make sure to do only one coat. If you do more than one coast especially with the thin colour ones it won't shatter properly and just look watery.

OPI Shatter

This nail polish is amazing for giving the crackling effect and is the best "shatter" polish I have used (I have tried a few different brands).

It is quite fun, and intriguing to watch the polish immediately start to crackle as you apply. The trick is to be quick and use only three strokes of the polish, the more you muck around, the more likely it won't work.

The crackle effect doesn't appear to stay the same as when you apply it. Over 24 hours, it gets smaller and the gaps between get bigger. I found this reduced when applying a top coat over top.

My favourite way to wear this is with a contrasting colour underneath, i.e. gold base with black crackle over top. It looks really effective!

This polish needs to be stored in a cool dry place. Most nail polishes do, but I never used to bother. I found when I kept mine on my dresser, they quickly became clumpy and unusable.

Mix and Match So Much Fun!

Eeeep! This is such a fun nail polish to play with! I love how I can mix it up with any colour and mix it up a bit by just doing the tips, or use it on a feature nail. Also I really like the range of colours available; I have the black polish and the white one. My favorite mix is the black shatter with gold or silver underneath.

Tips: Play around with different colour combos till you find your favorite one. Make sure you work fast as it drys and begins to crack very fast.

Not fussed

At first, everyone was all about shatter polish and so I went out and got a few OPI shatter polishes.

I found them rather hard to work with, yes it became easier and looked better with practice but I still didn't completely get the look I was expecting or wanting.

One thing that completely annoyed me was after paying the ridiculous amount for each polish they went gluggy and dried very quickly.

Tips: Don't give up on them, practice is the key with the product or even look on youtube for those extra tips and tricks.
