Nailed it.

Matte + glitter.. Sounds odd but it totally works! Shatter nails had left me cold and very reluctant to try other textured nail fads, but I’m glad I did!

I have the Mariah Carey Mini Collection which consists of ‘Get your number’ (turquoise), ‘Can’t let go’ (purple), ‘The Impossible’ (red) and ‘Stay the Night’ (Black with red glitter).

The formula is thicker than standard OPI nail polishes, so I find application easy, – I can paint right to the edges without making a big mess. All colours required two coats, except ‘Stay the night’ which needed three. I adore ‘Can’t let go’, such a gorgeous shade of purple! It has two different kinds of glitter, so lots of depth.

I find the polish to be long wearing, more so than the numerous other OPI’s I have, even without a topcoat. I’ve tried a topcoat with Liquid sand, darkens the colour and softens the look. Which brings me to the texture! It’s rough, just like sand. Takes some getting used too, you’ll keep touching your nails the first time you wear this.

If you’ve removed glitter polishes you will know how annoying and time consuming it is, liquid sand is no different.

I get so many compliments when wearing liquid sand, they really catch the eye. Can’t wait to get my hands on some ‘Honey Ryder’ as I’m a huge sucker for gold shades.

Tips: So easy to do ombre looks with Liquid sand, the texture makes it more forgiving. I use purple + turquoise. It makes me happy!

Great review! I have Can't Let Go and The Impossible as well and I love them. I got them as a Secret Santa gift and can't believe my person chose so well for me haha!

Perfect!

Oh my goodness I LOVE these!! The sandy texture is so unique and makes a nice change from regular polish. I own four of these liquid sand polishes now and I love them all, though my favourite would have to be the sparkly white Solitaire. They make for an easy and glam manicure, and always draw attention. They are also versatile, because if you don't feel like wearing the rough texture you can add a top coat to smooth it out and highlight the sparkle! The only thing about them that is a teensy bit annoying is that they are obviously more difficult to remove than regular polish, but no where near as bad as removing glitter polish!

I love this new set

I have the black and gold and I love them so much. I am addicted to the feel of them and my friends all like to touch my nails when I have it on. It also looks spectacular and is so easy to take on and off.

Tips: Buy online as it is cheaper

Disappointed in the Stayability

Upon first applying this I was IN LOVE. I was certain I had found a new fave. Gorgeous rough texture with a hint of sparkle yet somehow still matte enough to keep high glamour and class.

Fast forward one day and the chipping started. Unlike a normal polish that chips small and discreetly, this polish chipped HUGE and once it started to go it was a floodgate.

I had no choice but to remove it all, with great difficulty. As with other textured polishes this was a serious mission to remove.

I should say that I don't use a base coat, which could have been my problem. I really should invest in one.

I would use it again because I genuinely love the effect and it's something completely out of the box. Probably more suited to a big night out rather than for lasting the entire working week.

I didn't use a base coat and didn't find a problem with the chipping. Maybe slightly different formula?

Quite Funky

I was a little hesitant about trying liquid sand as I thought it could be quite annoying and get caught on things. After I missed a trial offer I was even more tempted to try it as the reviews for it were really good and the effect it gave was amazing. I went ahead and brought the Solitaire shade and it is so pretty. It is not a real white shade, more of a creme and the liquid sand makes it look like there are little pearls on your nails. The feeling is gritty, but it is very minimal that it doesn't get caught on clothes etc. I quite enjoyed the liquid sand nail polish as it was very slow at wearing off my nail due to it's coarse nature and it is easily patched up if it does chip as it blends back in with the original layer.

Love it

I am an OPI obsessive, and I never really have anything bad to say about their products.

I have this in purple 'Can't let go', and love it. It is so pretty and sparkly and also has a few larger bits of glitter in it. It really does look and feel like sand too! It is easy to apply.

I love it as it is different to any other nail polish i have tried and is very cool :)

Liquid sand OPI

this product is great but very unusual, it is either going to be a product that you love or hate. the texture that the nailpolish leaves on your nail resembles sandpaper or lightly sprinkled sand, it does feel different, but leaves a great effect on the nail

LOVE LOVE LOOOVE

I tried the Liquid Sand from the Mariah Carey Collection - because it was purple, my favourite and oh my gosh, instant love, the texture was so cool, I loved the matte finish (though it looks freaking cool with a clear gloss coat on top!) Absolute nightmare to remove (like glitters) but honestly who cares! It lasted so long before it started getting tatty so I wasn't fussed about the extra time it took to remove! I want more!

Its not a texture I personally like

The texture just feels wrong for me, as I have a lot of activity with my hands during the day I find that the sand texture can cause my nail to snag on things, for this I have used it with a file down to take the texture away and then popping on a clear top coat to get an amazing glittery effect. The liquid gold when filed down is a lovely shade and I think I would re-purchase just for that hue.

OPI Liquid Sands

I have a few different shades of these, from different collections, and I love them! I find that each collection has a slightly different texture, for example, the original Mariah Carey sands have large glitter particles in the polish so it is relatively gritty, whereas the Bond Girls collection is a very smooth sand texture. The polish lasts amazingly on the nails, for me it starts to chip around 5 days, which is really good! When it is time to come off, they wipe off a bit easier than a regular glitter polish, so those of you who hate scrubbing at your nails, definitely give this a chance! I am keen too build up my collection and get of many of these as I can get my hands on!

Tips: You wont need more than two coats for these. And NO top coat or you ruin the effect!
