Maybelline Nude Palette

Coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't typically use a lot of makeup, I absolutely loved this product! It had a wide range of colours, while keeping with the Nude theme obviously, giving a lot of possible different looks. The package has ideas of different Duo, Trio, and Quad looks, with guides of where to put each colour. I experimented a little with the different possibilities and they were all really easy to put on, didn't smudge, and it hasn't cracked yet. Not a whole lot of it is needed for the colour to stand out, so you don't end up with a really powdery and caked eyelid. I would definitely recommend this product, it has certainly made me more interested in trying out different looks.

Yes to "The Nudes"

Watching this palette take centre stage with it's feature on BR had me gazing at it in admiration - it definitely caught everyone's eye! It quickly skyrocketed to the top of my wishlist. I love the idea that a nude palette can have multiple uses (for highlighter, brow filler and more).. Oh how I felt I needed this nude palette in my life, and BR came to the answer. Thanks BR x

Before getting this palette, eyeshadow was for the most part reserved for special events. So, eyeshadow was not generally part of my daily makeup routine. This palette has quickly changed that for me! The reason why I have steered away from eyeshadow in the past is a couple of reasons.. I thought it could be abit 'too much' for daytime wear. Secondly, I also felt application of eyeshadow can be quite tricky! This palette has proven me wrong in both of these. I've realised eyeshadow can look lovely and subtle for everyday wear (not just smokey eyes and going out). Also, with practice (and referring to instructions) , application just gets easier as you gain confidence.

Maybelline is a brand I'm very familiar with (and love their mascaras), so I was hoping this would be added to the list of Maybelline products that impress me! The palette looks modern with it's black case and silver writing, that is sleek and stylish. The palette is made of black sturdy plastic, with a clear plastic lid which reveals the lovely colours below it. I found the added instructions on the plastic sleeve casing of how to use the shadows useful (I definitely had to refer to these, and the more I experimented with the shadows the more confident I became). I think guided instructions are helpful for those of you that are just starting your eyeshadow journey.

As with most applicators that are included with eyeshadows, it's so much better to use your own brush (such as Real Techniques), as you get a better result and so much easier to blend. The applicator that is included feels slightly rough and not the easiest to use on my sensitive eyes.

I love the palettes cheeky name 'in the nudes'. It has a wide spectrum of twelve neutral colours, from creams to tans and browns. These colours give you the opportunity to create different looks depending on what you are after, whether it be subtle and fresh or bold and sultry.

The eyeshadows are a lovely range of colours, with some being block matte colour, while others have shimmer/sparkle. The pigmentation gets better the more you apply, and the formula is very buildable. For me, and someone starting out on the eyeshadow journey this palette is perfect and such a great product. The palette has different looks that you can create based on the colours, such as quads, trios and duos. I also love that it can be used for many other uses such as highlighter and filling in your brows. It definitely is a multi-use product.

Overall, this nude palette is lovely and it has quickly ignited my passion for eyeshadow -it's now a staple in my makeup bag.

Tips: - If you haven't got a nude palette you should really give this a go. It's now a must in my makeup bag. - Use a primer for best results

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

Colours: This is such a gorgeous palette if you are into neutral colours. The colours are easy to blend and build up and easy to mix and match colours, the shade selection is great. There are colours in the palette to do both day and night looks to create a party look – daytime neutral eye or a deep smokey eye. There are so many colours in the palette that I feel it is definitely worth the money. The palette definitely works best when a primer is applied to the eyelids prior to applying the shadows to make the colours last longer (as the colours don’t last as long without it). Packaging: I like the size of the palette also, a nice size for travelling as it will fit in your makeup bag as well. The packaging is also quite sturdy so it’s going to be travel-friendly. The only thing that would have made this palette extra great would have been if it came with a mirror so you can apply the shadows on the go. The other con would be the standard eye shadow spongy applicators that it comes with to apply the shadows however this is pretty standard for these brands – it would have made it that little bit better if it did come with a mini eye shadow brush. Definitely a great palette for those who are on a budget, those new to makeup, and those who want to experiment with different looks than splurging on high-end makeup :)

Tips: Definitely use primer before applying the shadows so they last longer :)

Time to go Nude!

When I first received the palette, I was super excited as I've never owned an eyeshadow palette before and don't wear it on an everyday basis. The packaging of the eyeshadow is sleek and black and has a clear pane to see the colours inside. It's also quite small so is super compact! The lid closes really securely which I also enjoy because it feels sturdy and is unlikely to open and get fall out everywhere or break.

The sponge tip applicator it comes with is quite flimsy and doesn't really work well for applying eyeshadow as it doesn't pick up enough product and often breaks. Investing in brushes (I use the Carousel ones I picked up in the vault) will definitely be useful.

The colours themselves look amazing in the pan and there is a lot of variety, however, upon swatching, I found that some of the lighter shades and some of the browns actually appear quite similar.

I like the idea of them being organised into duos, trios and quads. I find that the duos are good for an everyday look, where you just want to even out the skin tone and define the crease; the trios are good for if you want to emphasise the outer V for more definition, and the quads are great for creating a smoky eye. Even though I haven't used eyeshadow much before, from the watching of many youtube videos and the instructions on the packaging, I found this really easy to use. I've also started to just use the colours based on instinct and to create my own looks.

Firstly, the pigmentation isn't the best and I found that the shimmery ones could be a bit chalky and powdery. Some of the shades also didn't have much colour payoff. However, I don't mind this because they are really easy to build up and for a beginner like me, it's better to start out with less than to have too much and end up with panda eyes.

I find that the shadows are really easy to blend and the colours merge into each other seamlessly. I also like how you can use this palette for natural looks and to build up for more dramatic looks.

It's also multipurpose, and with BR's article, I have found quite a few uses for this palette other than just eyeshadow. There is a cool toned grey shade which I really like using to fill in my brows, it makes them look natural and defined and matches my hairs perfectly! I also find that some of the shimmery shades work as excellent powder highlights and depending on your skin tone, you can also contour and bronze with some of the browns (I like shade 2 on the bottom row for contouring my cheekbones and nose because it's cool toned and gives a 'shadow' effect and I'll mix it with a warmer brown for slight bronzing). It also works well for setting eyeliner.

It's not the best quality out there, but I think it is a basic multipurpose palette that works well.

Tips: Not just eyeshadow! Depending on your skin tone, use it as brow powder, eye lining, contouring, bronzing and highlighting!

Dare to go NUDE

I decided to go with the lovely Sophie Garth’s tutorial for my first use of The NUDES by MAYBELLINE followed by the QUADS, TRIOS and DUOS which are on the back of the palette for you to follow.

I used the sponge applicator brush and found it rather harsh on my eyelids; not blending as well as I would like it too. There is a long applicator slot so your travel brush will easily fit in there which is what I have replaced the original sponge applicator with.

There is a great range of shades and pigments to create a natural all-day to Smokey eye which when I do wear eyeshadows is my 2 favourite looks. It’s unfortunate that the lighter shades are a little harder to build up to the particular colour shown in the palette and are slightly more powdery than the other shades.

The case is sleek and easy to fit into my makeup bag although would have loved to see a mirror in the palette but the colours are put on show through the see through front. Over all it is a well thought out concept.

I think the palette is something that would be perfect for beginners like myself, learning NUDES and naturals to then move onto brighter colours and more advance looks.

I have used creamer easier to apply palettes but will continue to use this for an all day look as it is long ware and doesn't crumble onto your cheeks.

Tips: Throw out the sponge applicator it comes with, it has a long enough slot to fit your travel brush in and use a primer or concealer setting it with No' 3 as recommended by Sophie Garth.

Great natural palette

It comes in a nice compact palette and has a nice firm clasp so no need to worry about it opening while traveling. It comes with handy instructions in the back with what duos/quads etc you can put together. Although the plastic one has different information to what's on the back of the compact.

I used it for a neutral look while out with my kids and I really like the colours that come in it and the fact that you can do a really natural nude look with the lighter colours or take the dark or black and make an evening smoky eye. They are really build able which is great for first timers. I like that there is a mix of mattes and frosts and found the colours very flattering. I would definitely recommend to others, especially if you are just starting out with make up. I would suggest that you get some eye brushes/blender brush as the brushes provided won't blend as well.

An Amazing Nudes Palette

The palette comes in a sleek packaging not too big and bulky. It comes with a sponge tip applicator which is good for smudging.

There are 12 shades in this palette. It is a versatile nude palette for everyday and smoky looks. I was pretty happy with the variety of shades that come in this palette.

The back of the palette breaks down the shades into quads, trios, and duos. It pairs up four shades, three shades, and two shades to create different makeup looks. The first quad in this palette contains neutral shades. The second quad contains warm bronze shades. The third quad contains smokey shades.

The palette features a mix of shimmery and matte shades. I am all about natural, neutral makeup looks so I was very exciting to trial this palette.

I love the shimmery bronzy shades and definitely love all the matte shades. There are a few light shades (satin, cream, taupe shades) are not very pigmented, sheer and a bit dry to work with. It takes a bit longer to build up these light shades. The rest of the shades are gorgeous, soft, creamy smooth, pigmented and easy to blend.

I am very surprised by the longevity of these shadows. They last for a decent amount of time (up to 8 hours) on my lids with a primer. The shadows are not dusty, don’t fall out when I put my brush to it. Therefore the “dust” don’t get stuck in my eye and cause irritation.

The taupe shade and the brown shades work amazingly together to create a perfect natural everyday look. I can achieve warm glamourous looks with the warm bronzy quad as well. There are so much you can do with this Nude Palette.

I think this would be a great palette for makeup beginners who are new to makeups and do not own many eyeshadows. I think all the shades are very well put together to create this amazing palette. I would have loved it more if it came with a mirror.

Tips: You will definitely need a eyeshadow primer to go underneath as the lighter shades are pretty sheer. Primer helps them pop!

Awesome little palette

When this palette first came out I could not wait to purchase it, I didn't own any fully nude palettes so I was pleasantly surprised when BR sent me one to trial.

The palette itself was smaller than I expected but the overall packaging was very nice. It comes with a helpful chart that shows you different eye looks and an idea of what shades match well. The eye shadows themselves were beautiful with a good mix of matte and shimmery shades.

The eye shadows were very easy to blend and had good staying power. These eye shadows were buttery, well pigmented and applied well with very little fall out.

This palette is awesome for beginners like me as it has a good mix of shades and a variety of looks can be achieved using only 12 shades, I love it.

Tips: The golden and champagne shades make for an awesome highlighter.

Awesome colour range

I was lucky enough to trial this palette for a range of uses, from a night out to daily wear. I loved how the range of colours could be used for either, in both warm, neutral and cool shades. I did find some of the colours didn't come out as strong as others. I tried using the combinations on the back, and they were good, although some of them I wouldn't do myself. Would definitely use this again, was great to take out because you only needed the one item.

Tips: Play around with the colour combinations on the back!

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

This is an awesome palette. Super versatile and wearable. Great neutral shades with a variety of shimmers and mattes. Good price compared to high end palettes and the shadows are good quality. There are some light shades that barely show but overall the pigmentation is decent, especially for drugstore.

Tips: I like to use this palette to contour and also as a highlighter.
