I have a pale, pinky complexion and have spent my life staying away from all things bright red. That is until I tried MAC Ruby Woo for the first time. This is the perfect red lipstick for all skin tones and has a gorgeous matte finish. It stays on all day and looks amazing!

Tips: Be careful when taking sweatshirts off or putting them on that you don't rub them over your lips, because you will end up with bright red lipstick smudged all over your face! :)
Unfortunately MAC lipsticks just don't work out on my lips, for some reason! I've tried all the formulas and they end up looking dry and peeling in only minutes after applying. I know this is just bad luck for me though, and as so many other people have no problem with them it's definitely not something wrong with the product!
There are so many different colours and formulas that it's no wonder MAC are so well known for their lipsticks. Colours like Morange and St Germain are iconic for being so bright and unique. MAC do so many gorgeous reds (Ruby Woo, Russian Red, Lady Danger for example) and heaps of great nudes too (Myth, Snob, Pure Zen).
Tips: Try before you buy, just in case!
MAC has an aura of quality and uniqueness. It would be easy to get sucked in by the name and not shop around for products that are equally as good. I have a few MAC lipsticks, but these were chosen for the colours, not the quality. MAC is often the first to release 'new' and unique colours and this has had me rushing out to purchase them in the past. However, in order to avoid the hefty price tag, a bit of research will enable you to find dupes at less than half the price. I have the MAC Saint Germain and LimeCrime Great Pink Planet lipsticks which are both very similar pinks, and I prefer the LimeCrime formula. It is less drying, longer lasting and doesn't peel. It is also cheaper! I don't mind paying for quality, but if I'm investing in a good quality lipstick I would now choose Lancome over MAC.
Tips: Do some research online and you will find cheaper alternatives to the MAC lipstick colours.
These lipsticks are quite pricey in my opinion but they are really good. They feel great on your lips, look good and are long lasting. Very good quality lipsticks.
Girl about town is absolutely insane. I love it so much! It's a violent blue based fuschia in amplified formula, so it is BRIGHT and it STAYS. It's blue based so makes teeth look pearly white. It's such a fab colour, a change up from my usual red! Love love looooove <3
I love all the colour varieties in the MAC lipstick range! In saying that though I will not be buying them anymore. I think for the price they are just not worth it, I usually do not mind paying a lot of money for MAC products as the quality makes it worth it, but the lipsticks are not! They tend to stain my lips and dry out and leave little peeling bits every time I use them! I exfoliate my lips and also use lip balms so they are always moisturised but these lipsticks seem to just dry them out. I know alot of people who use them and love them so maybe they are just not for me which is a shame because I really do love the colours!
Tips: Make sure you try them on before you purchase as they are not right for ll lips!
I brought this colour coming through duty free, so it wasn't as pricey : ) I love how pigmented it is, and it is long lasting - almost becoming like a stain if not reapplied. Though find it is a little drying than i would like. Its more of a pinky-red than orange or blue based.
i have too many shades of lipstick this is theai product mac delivers on whether their lipsticks are satin, frosted, matte or shimmery they last all day!the shades are true to their swatches and maintain that high pigment throughout the day. Personal favorites of mine are violetta, snob, candy yum yum and lady danger!the brighter the better. I could go on for pages about how great value these are!!i would rather pay more for the quality then paying cheap prices and having to keep reapplying throughout the day which means you would be using far more product!
Tips: keep your empty mac make up containers..lipsticks concealers...foundations swap six and you get to pick a FREE lipstick!!!
Love MAC lipsticks as I'm a lipstick girl through and through. My face looks pasty and washed out without lipstick, I've actually had people as me if I'm sick if I'm not wearing it! That aside, I feel that the finish of MAC lipsticks really determine if you like them or not. For example, I have the shade 'hug me' at the moment which is a lustre finish and this barely lasts an hour on my lips. I can't wait to use it up and get rid of it! On the other hand I have brick-o-la (amplified) and 'just a bite' (satin) and these are great and long lasting on my lips. I feel MAC really do the stronger colours best but I'm not one for nude & neutral colours so other BR members may have better reviews regarding this. Love the bullet shape of the lippies, but one problem when you have several of them in your handbag, look closely as because the packing is largely all the same and it's easy to put the wrong colour on your lips!
I have only one MAC lipstick due to their price here in NZ (around $40 in NZ, $15 in the USA). However, I really love it. The colour is Syrup, and it's a cream style lipstick. It goes on very smoothly, and has a very good staying power for something that isn't matte. I really like it, but I won't be rushing out to amass a large collection when there are pretty decent lipsticks around the $20 mark available.
Tips: If you bring in 6 MAC packages - lipstick tubes, powder containers etc, you can choose 1 free lipstick!
