Bold. Opaque. Recklessly loaded with pigment. For lips that speak louder than words.

Not Worth the Hype

I was drawn to this lipstick because of the super cute packaging. I bought the shade 'Poisonberry' thinking it would show up as a dark purple like in the tube. Unfortunately the coverage isn't as opaque as I'd hoped and gave more of a magenta shade.

It lasted about 2-3 hours (without eating) which wasn't the best I've ever had but I was okay with re-applying since it gave me a chance to pull out the gorgeous tube. It smells very similar to that of a MAC lipstick (sweet vanilla). The formula is super creamy and keeps my lips hydrated, although I do wear it with the fear that it will just melt off.

I will not be re-purchasing this particular product due to the fact that there are so many better alternatives that give better colour pay-off. Not to mention the controversy that surrounds the company.

Lime Crime Opaque Lipstick

I have two of these lipsticks in different colours and I have found them quite different from each other in the way they wear.

'Poisonberry' is a shimmery purple. It's highly pigmented and goes on smoothly. I found that this one wears pretty well and it's one of my staples for work and going out. I find the purple stains my lips in a good way, so the lipstick still looks good once it has started to wear off. For this reason, it's my go-to shade if I'm expecting a big night of drinking! I really do love this one and I'll be repurchasing it when it runs out.

On the other hand, 'Glamour 101' wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be. It could be the fault of my computer screen and perception but I was expecting a much richer, darker and almost burgundy shade of red when I ordered it. In reality it's a much lighter and brighter shade of red. Not the end of world, but I already have better lipsticks in a similar shade. The formula felt different with this shade. This one felt a lot more slippery going on and I felt like it bled easily and didn't last very well. This left a faint stain on my lips, so it looked okay as it was wearing off too.

Neither lipstick smells or tastes all that great, but this isn't a dealbreaker for me as it's not a lingering sensory experience.

Like all Lime Crime products, the packaging is as cute as hell. The lids on both of my lipsticks have cracks in them now though which I've never noticed with any other brand I've had. The lids still stay on okay in my makeup bag, but they definitely don't close up with that satisfying click anymore.

So I guess that's mixed results from me. I love 'Poisonberry'. It's been getting a hell of a lot of wear and I will definitely buy it again. 'Glamour 101' was a bit of a disappointment and I didn't feel like it was a special enough colour or long wearing enough for me to drop $30 on it again.

Brilliant bright colours

I've always wanted to try Lime Crime lipsticks since everyone was talking about it; Youtubers, bloggers and even my friends. So the chance popped up when an online store had a 15% discount! Even though I have too many lipsticks already, when a good discounts presents itself I just can't say no!

The colour I got was Countessa Fluorescent, it's a bright gorgeous pink colour. The lipstick has a thick texture, though not as creamy as I had hoped. It has a lovely vanilla scent which is quite pleasant to use and the colour was really pigmented like it promised.

The only complain I have with LC is the dryness, not sure if particular colours have different formulas but countessa fluorescent made my lips very dry and flaky after a day. Also the colour tends to feather out if I don't use a lipliner which is something that girls need to consider. The packaging is also very bright and fun, but I found the material of the tube (plastic) felt a bit cheap in my opinion.

Overall I really enjoy the how pigmented LC lipsticks are, it's a mid range product which lots of unique and adventurous colours. Even though the formula of this lipstick was a bit drying but I would still be keen to try out some of their other popular colours, got my eyes on babette and centrifuchsia next!

Tips: I highly recommend scrubbing your lips first and moisturising your lips first for a better and smoother application. Also use a lipliner for a longer lasting effect.

Bright, Bold Lips!

I was actually surprised at how vibrant and bright these were! I had heard the hype and thought maybe people just loved the packaging (a beautiful bonus). I did however find that they dried out my lips if I forgot to moisturise them.

Tips: Can be a little drying so moisturise you lips before applying!

pretty good

these lipsticks are good but not for the price, i feel that in this instance you are paying more for the brand name then the quality itself. the lipstick feels plastic-y and wears off within a few hours needing frequent touch ups especially for the more outrageous colours.

Tips: use lip balm and lip liner to pro long your wear out of this lipstick

Lime Crime

I'm not a huge fan of Lime Crime due to the way it feels on my lips once applied. I have Babette and Glamour 101. They feel heavy and cakey, and I don't even apply much. Don't get me wrong, the colours are stunning and these lipsticks are highly pigmented, and will last you a lot longer than a couple of hours. But when something doesn't feel right on my lips, I'm not going to continue using it.

Tips: If someone you know owns any of the lime crime lipsticks, I recommend trying before you buy.

Great colour range but where's the lasting power?

I have eight of what I like to call the "wearable" shades and overall they're decent lipsticks but I find that that the quality of the formula is not consistent across the shades.

They come in undeniably eye catching lilac bullets with holographic unicorns. They're the same height as the average lipstick but are much wider. I bought all my lipsticks from NZ suppliers - however Lime Crime products are now only available from the Lime Crime website.

They have a creamy texture which saturates the lips nicely with the bold colours going on more smoothly than the lighter shades. Because of this the bolder shades have better coverage. I'm not too sure why the lighter shades go on more patchy but it's a tad disappointing because they were the shades that initiated the purchase.

The colour range is great and a lot of people will find a shade that speaks to them :-) With the lighter colours they're a bit too "animated" for my liking however I still manage to make them work. I tend to mix the lighter shades with darker nudes just so that it will suit me as I find that Babette and Coquette wash me out when worn alone.

A typical "nude" in the Lime Crime range isn't really the kind of nude for someone like myself from the chocolate club (unless you're into white based nudes then wooohooo for you; you're in luck!). All is not lost however I love the "bold colours" - Centrifuchsia (fuchsia), Poisonberry (violet) and Glamour10 (deep red).

Unfortunately the longevity of the lipsticks are dismal, if I'm careful I can probably get 2-3 hours wear. It's a good thing I like to blot anyway which is what I do with these lipsticks the only thing that's wearing my patience thin is blotting the lighter shades. I have to repeat the process probably 4-5 times until I get decent colour that will stain the lips. Would I recommend these lipsticks? I would probably recommend other ones first.

Tips: If you haven't used the lipsticks in awhile it's probably best to warm up the product by swatching it on your hand and then you're good to go or else they'll tug at your lips.

Bright opaque lipstick!

I have Babette and geradium. They are both very opaque. They're not drying and are long lasting. Geradium is very pink but wearable and Babette is probably their most subtle colour but it won't suit all skin tones, I've passed mine onto my sister who suits it more. They certainly have some crazy colours! I buy my Limecrime from beautyjoint an online store. I think the packaging is cute too.

I have just added Glamour 101 to my collection so thought I'd update this review! Glamour is a beautiful red that I adore! Very pigmented once again and is a very wearable red.

Super pigmented

I have geradium and I am really impressed with the opacity. The colour is very vibrant and staying power is beyond 6 hours. The wear is pretty good but does go a tiny bit frosty looking. Very pretty. Will definitely purchase more.

Little misleading

I ordered Coquette and Geradium after seeing the beautiful Lime Crime swatches. I have very paper white skin and though Coquette would be a lovely nude for me. I was quite shocked when I put it on and it was BROWN D: and Geradium is NEON PINK. I am going to give Geradium to my friend, it is unwearable for me.

However the formula is nice, a little drying after 2-3 hours but a great colour pay off. I really want Poison Berry but I am not too sure if I will get it.
