Best, blackest gel liner

I've used this product for years. It was the first ever gel liner I ever tried and I was weary because the only reason I tried it was because it claimed to be intensely black and budge-proof. And it totally was!

It lasts for a good amount of time, it's easy to use and it doesn't dry out super fast like Mac's Blacktrack gel liner which is awesome because this is waaaaay cheaper.

Usually brushes and applicators that come with beauty products are overlooked but the one that comes with this is actually not bad to use at all. When I was starting out with make up and gel liner, I did use it and it was fairly easy to work with.

I also particularly love how it's not difficult to take off at the end of the day.

Tips: Despite me saying that the brush is usable, I do recommend using a different brush for more precision. I like the Urban Beauty United, "Luxury Liner" brush. Also wait for it to set for a minute or so before curling your lashes. :)

Perfect for Hooded Eyes

This is the most amazing eyeliner ever. It's perfect for everyday use but also when you want a more dramatic winged look. I love winged eyeliner but because I have hooded eyes, I always found it hard to find an eyeliner that set before I opened my eye and it would end up being all smudged over my eyelid. This is why Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner is perfect for me, I find it glides on smoothly and also sets quickly. It comes with a cute little brush that gives you perfect precision for smaller or thicker lines. I love that it lasts all day but also is easy to remove when I wash my face.

classic eyeliner- must have

I have used 3 black jars and 2 brown-black ones. This is the eyeliner that changes my perspectives on gel liner. It's smooth and can create various effects: natural, dramatic or edgy. It's my everyday liner. Pros: - good price at great quantity and quality (believe me you would never use it up unless you are a professional) - long lasting - comes with a brush

Cons: - it's not totally water-proof in my opinion, may not last all day long if you have oily skin - the brush is not easy to use for beginners, I think the producers should provide an angled brush instead

Tips: remember to close the lid carefully or the gel may get dry fast. But if the liner gets dry, mix it up with a little vaseline (just a little)

I wanted to like it a lot more than I actually did

I persevered with this one but I just couldn't get excited about it.

I found it difficult to apply, potentially due to the brush supplied, and once on it seemed to smudge very easily. Perhaps I would have a better experience with a different brush, but it just seemed a little too hard for me to get used to.

As a disclaimer though, I have been wearing liquid non-stop for years and this has been my first and only experience with a gel formula.

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

This is a cheaper version of MACS black track gel liner for those who cant afford the hefty price tag which comes with any MAC product.

What I love about Maybelline is how accessible their products are they can be found at your local pharmacy and Farmers stores. I always wear black as black eyeliner, and gel liner is no acception to this rule.

This provided great colour density, it remained on my eyelid all day long. Gel liner can be used for day time and dramatic evening lines. I find gel eyeliners slightly trickier to apply as the brush that comes with them is never ideal.

I only use Gel eyeliner for the top of my lids due to the tendacy to smudge much easier. Heat causes gel to react and you can end up with a panda eye by the end of the day. For lower waterline I find khol pencils to be a safer option.

Would definitely re purchase again, well worth the price tag and there's always offers on Maybelline products.

Tips: Used an angled brush to apply along your lower lash line. Use small short strokes to achieve an even application.

Sometimes wetting your brush helps to achieve smoother application, leading to a more precise defined eye.

prep and prime your eyes to ensure no smudging occurs.

Colour was wrong

So I got the grey colour as I thought it was something different but it is really faded and I don't like it at all!! Although it was super easy to apply and the brush it came was is really decent. One thing I noticed is that afer a couple of hours the colour would always go up onto my eye lid. It didn't sting my eyes or anything. But having that smudge does not look the best. I think it is because my eyelids are quite oily and I wasn't using any primer. I really don't know what the fuss is about. Maybe gel liners aren't for me

Eh.

Awfully fiddly and it's a lot harder to get a thinner line than what you would with something like liquid eyeliner. Gel liner looks so awesome and lasts (provided you let it set). If you don't, it goes everywhere and is such a hassle. Blackest Black doesn't exactly come across as heavily black soo.. Hmm.

Tips: Keep your eye shut for a while and let it dry.

One of my favourite eyeliners!

I have this eyeliner in an aubergine or eggplant colour (purply) - the colour is fantastic and really suits me as I have green eyes :) It comes with a shaped brush which makes it really simple to put on. I really like the consistency of this liner, it's really thick and goes on easily so I just apply a little to the brush for daytime use and put on as a normal liner. At night you can apply more and vamp it up a little! The things I love the most about it is It lasts all day, doesn't smudge and doesn't annoy my eyes. The packaging I really like as it is glass for a start (not plastic), but it is small and easy to throw into your handbag and as the lid twists and clicks on, no chance of it coming off.

It is great value for money as it will last for ages, you don't need to use much. I would recommend this product to anyone for value for money, quality and ease of use, love it although probably not a product for everyone due to having to get the brush and pot out everytime. I would buy this again and would like to try a different colour

Gel Liner

This is a beautifully Pigmented gel liner. This glide on smoothly by using a angled liner brush you can achieve the perfect crisp line. This liner is long wear and perfect for dramatic looks. You can use it as a base for the perfect smoky eye. Only down side to this product is it dries up.

Tips: -use your hair dryer to warm the product up for easy application. - great for tightlining just put your black pencil in the liner and move it around so it collects product to tight line.

Blackest Black - doesn't dull at all

It's hard for me to find eyeliners (gel / cream / crayon) that work well for my hooded oily lids. I'm happy to say that I really love this product and it's almost as good if not just as good as my ultimate favourite Jane Iredale Jelly Jar Gel Liner.

I have the shade Blackest Black which I bought from Beauty Bliss for $20.00 - a bit steep some may say but if you think about high end ones like Jane Iredale you're looking at $40 so I'm not complaining about the price point. Admittedly I didn't have high expectations for this but was surprised to find that the gel goes on a lovely inky black and dries down to a semi matte black without losing the lovely rich colour.

It applies on smoothly and gives you enough time to correct mistakes before setting. I really love that the product moves wherever my brush directs it to move so I'm not left trying to drag and tug at it my already droopy eyes! The product is waterproof and smudge proof and I often find it difficult to remove if I'm not using (the best ever) my Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup remover.

My only small con with this product is that there is still some transfer. With hooded lids the excess skin loves to hide all my artwork (i.e. often failed attempt at smokey or halo eyeshadow) and it tends to touch my gel liner. This product leaves a very faint mark just above my crease - which in comparison to other eyeliners I've used, is nothing. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable gel liner with fantastic colour payoff that doesn't dull or move once in place.

Tips: I use the Jane Iredale liner brush to stencil an outline (wipe off excess) and then go in with a Sigma E65 eyeliner brush to pack on the colour.
