Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara Reviews

I got this product based on the reviews I read on it - everyone has raved about this mascara and I thought I will give it a try. It’s affordable and I have used other great Maybelline mascaras before so I was very excited to try it for myself. I wear contacts and this mascara does not accommodate with my contact lenses - it feels as if the product wears down during the day and then goes into my eyes - and causes blurry vision. I have tried the mascara when I don’t wear contacts and it did the same but caused an irritation and it was just unpleasant. It feels as if it leaves a “glue” coat on the lash - which I suspect causes the irritation. It didn’t do wonders for my lashes - so I’m back to square one on my search for that perfect mascara.

For those who know me, Maybelline is my favourite drugstore brand and my fave-of-all-time brand for mascaras. In saying that, I had considerably high expectations for this mascara... which was, sadly, not met.

Firstly, the packaging is reflective - not to the point it can act as an emergency mirror, but think more of circus/distorted mirrors. It's quite cylinder and the size reminds me of Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara. The wand also reminds me a little of BTS, but just a bit smaller.

In terms of its effects, I do believe it does thicken and lengthen my lashes without clumping, but the "falsies lift" and "dramatic volume" are where this falls flat. I was disappointed, even after layering multiple coats, it wasn't giving me the volume it so enthusiastically boasts about. The "lifting" also isn't something to praise as I feel like, throughout the day, my lashes don't hold - they don't necessarily droop, but they definitely aren't as high as when the day first started. Compared to other mascaras, that do actually prove their claims of holding the 'lift' the entire day.

To put another damper on things, at the end of a work day, I found a smidge of darkness under my eyes and flaking, which isn't enough to be noticeable to the naked eye, but is obviously not something you'd want if you're looking to go to a special event with full glam on.

On the plus side, it was super easy to remove especially after double-cleansing and I appreciate the fact it didn't leave me with panda eyes unlike other mascaras where you need to rub your face raw to remove all the remnants.

All in all, would I purchase myself? No. There are absolutely far better mascaras on Maybelline's shelf that easily surpass this in terms of volume and lift. However, I will continue to use this as a backup mascara if I do need a quick boost of volume and length.

This mascara claims to give a “lash lift” effect but I found the formula didn’t hold my curl very well. It has quite a wet consistency but managed to add a decent amount of volume. I didn’t notice much of a lengthening effect. I had a few clumps here and there that were easily combed out and it didn’t flake on me but smudged a bit after a few hours due to my curl dropping and therefore my eyelashes were touching the skin under my eyes (straight Asian eyelashes). The wand is an hourglass shape similar to Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, and it did a decent job of reaching all my lashes. Removal was pretty standard with micellar water.

No matter what I did to prep my lashes this mascara could never hold a curl. It also flakes very easily and would leave me looking like a panda all day. The formula was not black enough and did not compliment my eyes.

My HG mascara has been the original colossal volume but thought I'd try this out. No comparison for me! The formula is ok but the brush doesn't make my lashes anything special. The design means it constantly gets onto my eyelids as I'm applying and I don't get any curl at all and the volume is average. Wouldn't buy again. Try colossal volume in the yellow tube instead.

The packaging is cute silver and purple I do not mind the Wand- the Head is tapered in the middle

I found the formula quite wet, although I often find alot of mascaras start off and thicken within a couple of uses. I have not found that with this mascara yet.

now does it do what it claims? I certainly felt like it "lifted" and lengthened my lashes, however I feel volume was lacking and it did clump alittle after 3 or so coats

It does say that you can apply multiple coats but not to let the layers dry in between.

I felt that it did flake on me, and wearing glasses this is not a good look, I also have slightly sensitive eyes and I do not know if it was the fibres in this but I did find my eyes were a little irritated after a while of wearing this, possibly this was related to the flaking.

for this reason alone I would not buy myself or recommend to friends, not when there are so many good drugstore masacras around that would do the same or better job

All in all I loved the lifting and lengthening effect of this mascara but the claims that it does not flake I do not feel are correct (at least not for me) and I did not find it gave me a lot more volume

I think this mascara can be quite lengthening, and the thin formula helps to not be so clumpy. Unfortunately, the ends often flaked off into my undereye for me so it didn't work well. I also have very straight eyelashes that I curl, but this didn't help hold the curl for as long as other mascaras. I think if you're just looking for length and don't mind a very thin coat so any flaking is not noticeable, then this is fine. But this isn't my personal favourite unfortunately.

I have naturally short, stubborn stick straight lashes so I think this compares to all the other mascaras out there that aren't waterproof as they never really do much except add a bit of definition to outline my eye. I usually curl my eyelashes and need to use a waterproof mascara to help the curl hold. But with this mascara, the curl didn't really hold up. However compared to other non waterproof mascaras, it was probably a little bit better. I didn't find it clumping too much but would be careful not to over do it especially if you have a lot of lashes already as I'm not sure how well it would help with separating them.

Overall, I probably wouldn't purchase again as I typically stick with waterproof mascaras.

I was so excited to try this out as maybelline is normally my go to brand for mascara. I unfortunately didn't have the best time with it but my mum loved it so I will give it to her. Maybeline falsies lash lift comes in lovely packaging with it being purple and silver and the font is easy to read. The name didn't ring true for me as it didn't lift my lashes but that's hard to do as my lashes are long and are stubborn to lift. I found that it was easy to smudge as well. The price range is pretty good at $22 at the warehouse and $26.99. Overall I'd say to give it a go because even if it wasn't for me, it's at a good price point and you may enjoy it more.

I picked this one up with another one to compare them plus they had buy one get one half price. I normally wouldn't have bought this brand these days but double points on Maybelline reviews made it seem worth it. The brush is not something I usually go for and neither was the other one I got. The Maybelline The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara brush didn't seem that the brush was over loaded with product I tried with both mascaras to avoid dipping back into the tube and just keep combing and turning the wand through my lashes. This one seemed to give more favourable results faster than the other one I tried perhaps lashes do have a little lift but there's not much difference in terms of lift. This mascara did make lashes less seperate though a bit more grouped together and thicker looking faster. Adding more coats you need to work faster as this formula is dryer than the other I tried and dries fairly quick too. Adding more layers was going to give me clumpy looking spidery lashes. Results over all were fair though it's not bad decent length and definition but I would prefer a wetter formula so I could layer / spend more time combing product on. This formula isn't flaking after a few hours of wear like the other one has so that's why it gets a slightly higher rating. Not one I'm in love with.
