L'oreal is one of my favourite mid-priced brands, I've tried many of their foundations, lipsticks and blushes and been impressed in the past. When I heard people raving about how great this foundation was, I couldn't wait to try it.
First of all, I'm a lover of full coverage foundations- Estée Lauder double wear, MAC prolong wear and the list goes on. I had heard this was as good, but for a fraction of the price. So, this sold me!
The tube super stylish, black and sleek. It is made of plastic, and is sturdy. I like that it's not breakable, and can easily be popped in my bag. The tube reminds me of the new MAC prolong wear nourishing foundation- it is just so similar.
My skin tends to be of the dry type, although my skin has improved greatly lately due to the skincare I've been using. So, I would say it's currently normal.
As usual, I always use my moisturiser and wait for it to dry and then apply primer. Afterwards I apply this foundation by using my RT brush. Ip the formula is nice and buildable on my skin.
It's so easy to apply and it feels comfortable on the skin. The consistency feels nice and it doesn't feel too thick, like some high coverage foundations do.
Although it covers imperfections so well it feels lightweight on your skin and it really lasts during the day. I really loved the beautiful finish it gave to my skin. It gave me such a flawless, matte finish that just made my skin look so nice.
BUT...unfortunately, after using this for awhile, it just doesn't agree with my sensitive skin and I had a reaction. This was so disappointing as it's such a lovely foundation, and if it had agreed with my skin it would be getting five stars.
After hearing so many you tubers go on about how amazing this foundation was I finally gave in and purchased a tube myself. Note the one the you tubers rave on is not the same formulation as the one you can purchase here and I think the overseas formulation might be a bit better than this.
I wanted to try as it claims to last for 24 hours and is matte.
It comes in a nice little tube with a small nozzle which is good, as it means you don't squeeze it and a heap of product oozes out!
It's quite easy to see how much is left in the tube as most of the tube is transparent.
Price wise, it's not too bad, especially compared to double wear which some say this can be a dupe for.
I choose shade 20 Sand which was a pretty good match for me over winter, not so much for summer.
The best way I found to apply it was with a brush or beauty blender - both were equally as easy to apply and seemed to produce the same result.
The formulation is fairly liquid but not too liquid, which I like.
For my oily skin it wasn't too bad but I won't purchase again as it definitely does not last 24 hours - I think it could claim to last around 7-8 hours. By the end of the work day I can start to notice it sliding around my face big time. It came off my nose and chin the quickest as those are the places I seem to touch the most. It improves if you set it, but I feel with a matte foundation you shouldn't have to set it.
Coverage wise, huge fail - this is not a heavy coverage foundation as stated on the tube. It's medium at best!
All in all it's not bad, but for me, it's not good enough to repurchase.
