Full Coverage!!

Used findation.com to get my shade. Definitely a bit too warm, however able to work with it as I tan in the summer. Pump top for easy dispersal. Slight hint of scent. Build able full coverage. Wears well through the day, received compliments which is always lovely.

Not a foundation pro by far. Applied with a flat top brush and buffed into the skin. Final look was great. Lasted through my work day which is what I really wanted to trial this for. Breathable foundation and probably most importantly not heavy. Lightweight to do the job.

I enjoy using this foundation as it is easy to use. Have looked at the rest of the shade range instore and found a better suiting colour that I am looking to purchase.

Bonus points: affordability, ease of access to purchase.

Tips: Recommend going instore to select foundation colour as it can be guesswork purchasing online.

Lasting Finish has Lasting Power

I recently tried the Rimmel Lasting Finish 35HR Foundation, in the shade 160 Vanilla, and was really interested to see if this full coverage, lightweight cruelty-free and vegan foundation would withstand the busy working day.

I selected the shade 160 Vanilla online, from looking at swatches on both a models arm and face. The range has an abundance of shades to choose from – including those for a neutral, cool, or warm undertone. When the bottle arrived, the shade appeared a lot darker than I had expected given the example on the model online (especially with my skin coming out of a gloomy Dunedin NZ winter). Although the 160 Vanilla fits within the neutral category, I found it still gave my skin a subtle warmth to it, and with a lighter coverage didn’t look too dark on my complexion.

I didn’t test out the Sleep-proof or waterproof claims, so couldn’t say if this is truly a ‘35HR foundation’, however Lasting Finish has some serious lasting power getting me through the day while still feeling comfortable. The hydration boost combined with vitamin E and hyaluronic acid gave my skin a real boost while the coverage was buildable, allowing me to achieve the level of coverage that I desired while still feeling lightweight. This foundation is comfortable to wear and didn’t dry out my skin which was great. Being an SPF20 is a bonus, as I love skin products with SPF within them – although I still put my sunscreen on daily no matter what!

This is a budget friendly foundation, sitting around $20.00 NZD for a 30ml glass bottle, depending on which retailer you purchase from. It’s a bargain!

Tips: Buy instore (rather than online) to ensure you get the correct shade first time.

Long wearing!

The first day I got this foundation I put a swatch on my neck. I went to sleep with it on, showered and it was still on afterwards! Definitely meets its claims of being long wearing, sleep-proof and waterproof. The coverage is buildable, I don't find it to be full-coverage right off the bat, but definitely able to be built up to full coverage. All in all, a good foundation however do take note that it does oxidise so maybe go one shade lighter

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation

Full coverage lightweight foundation....this foundation is lightweight full coverage I did not think anywhere near. If you have used the original that was FULL coverage or buildable full coverage at the least. The old version I used all the time but as I have got a bit older I noticed that it did sink into lines and was just not looking as flattering on my skin because the formula is alot thicker and creamer. I actually dont agree with any of the claims of this foundation its almost like it has been mixed up with another product released its odd. This is light to medium coverage at most does not build well, not the longest of wearing it will last me a good 6 hours before looking patchy and can get a bit drying through the day I think if my skin was better hydated it would last a bit nicer not so much longer, I have more dry to normal skin. Definitely not transfer resistant and will settle into lines over time (which is normal we can't help where our skin decides to crease) I just think the claims are not at all what you get. However in saying this I actually really like this product its so much nicer on my skin than the original and if this had been marketed as a light to medium coverage I would buy this but if you were looking at wanting a full coverage foundation I think you would be annoyed at the claims on this. In my opinion this is a beautiful lightweight, light buildable natural coverage foundation that is fantastic for everyday wear. The colour range is great and love the added skin benefits this will be a go to for me in summer. I have the shade 203 true beige which is very orange its quite dark on me but I think if I had a better shade I'd love this even more. I just think Rimmel are marketing this to the wrong audience, full coverage foundation wearers want full coverage but the people who would love this may not even try it just because it says it's full coverage. It's just a bit of a missed opportunity for the brand such a good product if you know what your getting. I hope they keep the original and rebrand this one as it's lighter more skin loving sister.

Tips: I use a brush application because the sponge eats a bit too much of the product being a thinner consistency.

Lovely foundation

I am using Vanilla shade and find this colour blends into my face perfectly.

I use a primer before applying the foundation with my sponge, the foundation spreads easily and evenly over my face with excellent coverage and finish

I’m not sure that the foundation stays fresh for up to 35 hours, as it is dulling by the end of my day, though this is still a good timeframe!

It’s great to have another layer of SPF - SPF 20.

Unfortunately, I found this foundation magnified my pores so I won’t be using this again. I believe this is more of my skin type than a fault of the product.

Tips: Definitely use a primer

Good lasting foundation

I do like the Rimmel foundation range. Have never been disappointed when it comes to lasting. I always start off with a clean face. I always use moisturiser and the sunscreen then my makeup.

I have the Ivory shade, which is is spot on. Some brands can be a bit too dark/light in ivory, this product is spot on.

When apply the Rimmel London Lasting Finish 35 Hour Foundation, it went on smoothly. Blended well. It has a good coverage. In order to keep this good coverage for 35 hours, you would need to reapply. I always had mine on for a max of 16hours and can tell the coverage is not a full as when applied, but it was still a good coverage. I did not notice any smudges on white tops which is good! It does feel a bit heavier than my usual foundation, but this could be because it’s long lasting.

Although this offered a flawless cover and you look beautifully airbrushed, the smell has really put me off. I have never been concerned about my foundation smell, and always preferred no added scents but this smell is very noticeable. I’m unsure how it smells whilst on my face, but when taking it off with my micellar water, the pads smell awful! My Beaty sponge is washed on a daily due to the smell.

This is a great foundation with long lasting coverage. It’s just the smell that has put me off.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish 35hr Hydration Boost

I like Rimmels Foundations and have used them before in the past, but to be honest, I didn't really find this was any better than the 25 hr lasting foundation. I got the soft beige, which was maybe slightly the wrong colour but wore it to to work for the week with some powder etc. I didn't find it anymore hydrating with the Hyaluronic Acid in it and I still think the Loreal is better. By the end of the day it had worn off my chin so definitely not 35hr staying power. Great that it had SPF 20 in it. I felt it didn't last the distance for me unfortunately. Not sure I would purchase again.

Tips: I found it applied better for me with a damp sponge rather than a brush

Rimmel London Lasting Finish 35 Hour Foundation

I was super excited to be a part of the Rimmel 35 Hour Foundation , especially if this foundation could stay on through my sweating, wearing a mask and long hours at work.

I chose shade 100 Ivory thinking this would be perfect sadly it’s quite tan , like 3 shades too dark . I’m a neutral porcelain shade usually . So that’s my fault . It has oxidised going even darker . I love that the foundation is spf 20 !

I really really love a pump bottle , makes application so much better than unscrewing a lid and pouring foundation on sponge or back of hand .

First thing I noticed was there’s a strong fragrance . Not too bad, almost orange like? Which I’ve never experienced from a foundation .

I applied with a damp beauty blender after usual skin care routine . I did not apply a primer as I really wanted to put the foundation to the test.

There was no tightness , but I didn’t find the foundation hydrating, there was no settling into fine lines or creasing at all so that’s a huge bonus! But the downfall is it really does transfer and that’s without sweating first , so I was bummed . With the first hour I could sipe my face with my fingers and there’s foundation on them.

The foundation does look great though in terms of finish, so this would be a perfect foundation for a dinner date .

Not for me

I had high hopes for this foundation. It has some amazing skincare ingredients , is affordable and promised to be long wearing unfortunately I just couldn’t get it to look good. I love the glass packaging and the pump as it makes it much easier to dispense. I did notice a smell and while I think it was fragrance it didn’t smell very nice. This did vanish as soon as it was applied. I tried the shade Sesame and the match was perfect. I used a sponge to apply it which is how I apply all foundation but I struggled to build up the coverage and had to use 2 and a half pumps, so maybe a brush or fingers will do a better job. It applies easily and feels very lightweight on the skin. Unfortunately it started to break apart around my nose after a couple of hours and became really patchy on my cheeks about 5 hours in. I tried it with 2 different primers and got the same results. It also seemed to eventuate a couple of dry patches on my skin. I have oily/combination skin and it seemed to work quite well on the oilier parts of my face. I will try it again using my fingers to apply it and maybe without a primer underneath as it does look quite natural on the skin but I would not repurchase this foundation. I do really appreciate the chance to trial it though.

It was ok

I was excited to try this foundation and overall there were many great features. The pump bottle was great, one pump was exactly enough. The foundation smoothed effortlessly onto my skin and blended easily. My skin looked smooth with a matte finish. It prvided full coverage. The spf 20 was a win as was the hydrating ingredients. Unfortunately it did have an unpleasant smell and by about lunchtime it felt like the foundation was sliding off my face. A quick mirror check showed it still looked good and by 7pm there was still no need for touchups. I did not test the 35hour/sleepwear of the foundation as the feeling of it sliding off was still there. I did continue to try it over different moisturisers, however it felt the same. Due to the unpleasant smell and how it felt on my skin, I dont think this foundation is for me.
