Rich Rose and Peachy Cheeky - a miss!

A brand that can deliver affordable quality products are a favourite in my books but I felt these baked blushes were a miss. I bought them from Iherb for $3.00 each and unfortunately I ended up throwing them away because they just didn’t work for me.

It’s not a huge loss because they didn’t cost much but I expect baked blushes to be quite pigmented but alas my selections weren’t the case. I bought Rich Rose because it reminded me of one of my favourite MAC blushes (Ring of Saturn) with its rose and brown swirls. I also bought Peachy Cheeky because the online swatches reminded me of champagne rose goodness with lovely shimmer. What I received instead was pretty disappointing.

Rich Rose barely showed up on my skintone and this is not because I’m part of the chocolate club but there was very little pigmentation. I tried it on my mum who has a fair complexion and we could detect a light dusting of brown and a hint of pink and that was only after a number of swipes in the pan. I was not impressed.

Peachy Cheeky performed "better" however it applied patchy and the shimmer stood out more than the colour pay off. I felt that because the application was patchy it affected the lasting power (or lack of). I was lucky to get 2 hours of wear but I was more annoyed with the transfer of shimmer. You could perhaps use this as a blush topper because the pigmentation isn’t as great so better to layer it over a pigmented blush.

I personally wouldn’t recommend the baked blushes and instead would recommend the normal ELF blushes and highlighters if wanting that baked glow – all still very affordable and great to have in your collection when traveling.

Wouldn't repurchase

This blush has to be wet for pigment to transfer onto the skin which I didn't mind as it is a baked blush. Although the blush has more shimmer and glitter in it than blush pigment, I wouldn't recommend if you like a matte blush. The shimmer in it left my pores looking huge and the colour was unflattering.

Elf baked blush in pinky cheeky

I purchased this from Iherb having heard great reviews about Elf baked goods. Also the price was appealing @ $3. The packaging: A simple blush in a plastic black and clear compact. The product: A marbled pink and brownish raised shadow. No sparkle apparent. Its instructed to use apply wet to the face for intense effect. Use/effects : so I used this with my urban decay de slick setting spray by spraying the blush brush then brushing over the blush, applying to the apples of the cheeks. I didn't get any intense look and no matter how I applied it all that's apparent is a shimmer sparkle to my skin so I tend to build it up by layer other blushes with it. I also used without a wet brush& still the blush is ineffective. Using it layered with my matte bronze blushes gives the shimmer effect. In all it doesn't want to work. Unfortunately I'm dissatisfied with the product. I so want to have it work so I keep adding it into my routine. Maybe I ruined it by using a wet brush to it. I'm not sure, all I know is it doesn't give me the effect I hoped it would...

Baked Blush

My very first Elf product came from a fellow Beauty Review Member. It was given to me as a gift earlier on in the year. I never really knew about Elf until I became a member of this site. Elf can be found in Kmart stores and iherb. I've been wanting to do iherb haul for some time now, but just haven't gotten around to doing it.

This Blush that I got was Pinky Cheeky. The small compact has a window so you can see the product. This blush is pink and has a slight shimmer through it. The consistency of the powder was quite thin. It doesn't have any scent to it.

When I applied it to my cheeks I found it difficult to build colour up. As for long lasting, it didn't last very long at all on me. I tried using dry and wet still didn't get any good results. Would I purchase it again yes only to give it one more chance. I want to see if I get the same result. I'll return back to this review to see if it happens again.

Pretty but very very shimmery

If you like shimmer this is your thing - I could tell it would be pearlescent from how it looks in the pan (I chose the shade rich rose a more bronzy/peach than rose shade really the name is quite misleading), but it was alot more glittery than I first thought I would not recommend this if you have large pores as this will make them look huge. Gives a nice glow and can't complain about the pigmentation at all, however sadly this is too shimmery for me and it also broke me out horribly - little cyst like bumps all over my cheeks for a few days after applying. Nice but not for me.

Pretty. but doesn't seem to want to be used!

I purchased this online as a 'filler' blush because I knew I'd be travelling and wanted to buy something in Aussie.

The e.l.f. range has a lot going for it, in my opinion. It's inexpensive, readily available online and in Kmart, and there are some amazing hidden gem products in the range. The baked blush, for me, is not a hidden gem.

The blush comes packaged ina more éxpensive'looking way than I expected for the $5 I paid for it. It was boxed, in a modern black box. The casing is cheap, but adequate, with a black base and clear dome lid with only the company logo and product name on top, allowing you to see the product clearly. On the back is a tiny label with the name of the shade. I have this product in 'Passion Pink'.

The blush itself is a slightly elevated dome shape, and a very pretty mix of bronze and rose. It has the typical 'baked' lustre and a nice shimmer in the case.

This is where the issue comes in. This blush just doesn't want to get on my brushes. I've tried it with a few different ones and it's just not interested. In frustration, I wiped the blush itself on my cheekbones, and it transferred to my face well when done that way and blended out with the blush brush, but this isn't ideal!

When I DID manage to get it on my skin, the colour was pretty, shimmery, and more of a tinted highlighter than a blush, per se - but when rubbed straight onto the skin without a brush can build strongly. It wears okay, if you've managed to build up decent colour, but if not it's barely noticeable.

I've thrown this in my gym bag to use then, because I've since purchased a better blush. I'm not hugely disappointed because it was so cheap and it is useable, technically, but not ideal. I'm hoping that once the top layer is gone the rest will loosen up

I use it so infrequently that sometimes I just rub it straight onto my face haha.

My brush doesn't pick up any product, so i have to use my fingers! Not ideal, but at least this way it doesn't go to waste! But yes , compared to other brands... well thankfully it was only $3 ;)

it's good you get want you want from it! I'm persisting with mine but only as a gym one so it's fine, but when compared to my usual ones (which admittedly are MAC and Too Faced) it's a poor relative - but so pretty in the tub!

Okay, iv been using my blush for a few weeks now, (although i use it as a highlighter), and i understand what you means about the hard top. Mine has it too, but i can still get enough product to create the look i want so that's a bonus

Well i suppose its not the best outcome for you, but its great that it is becoming more usable!

it's actually becoming more usable, hon. I spent about a minute just working a brush over it today to try and delayer it and it actually seems to be working better. It's never going to be super pigmented, but its getting better

e.l.f Baked Blush Review

I bought 2 different shades of this blush as all the reviews online claimed that it was super pigmented and more suited to be a highlighter than a blush. I adore highlighters so this was really the only reason why I bought this blush. I do not like this product as a blush or highlighter. The product used as a blush provides average pigmentation and for me personally I do not find it powerful enough to use as a highlighter. The formula is very chalky and does not guide of my face very smoothly. I am not a fan of the texture. I find the packaging to be very cheap looking. Although I do not like this product it seems almost impossible to find a bad review on it. Seems like everyone but me raves about this baked blush.

Bling Blush

I loooooove peachy coloured blusher so had to buy this when I saw it. Unfortunately it's not my most favourite ever because it's a tad too shimmery and I don't find the pigment that great unless you build and build which results in more and more shimmer. I think I'm too old for that much shimmer :( That being said I do still use it as a very subtle highlighter over my non-shimmery peach blusher. If you were born to shimmer and shine this will be your thing :)

A subtle glow rather than a blush

I got the colour peachy cheeky a while ago when the rave reviews were flying around for this blush but after using it lots I dont share the same sentiments as those who rave about it.

Firstly its labelled as a blush and it shouldnt be. Its not pigmented enough to be a blush and its sparkly as hell. Its looks like you've been attacked by glitter fairies if you wear this as a blush! Secondly the lasting power is not that of a blush. I apply it and literary watch it blow off my face.

So I dont use it as a blush but rather as a top over a matte blush and will use only the tiniest amount. When using this on top of a blush it gives your cheeks a glow but without all the sparkle. I only wear this at night when I want more than a highlighter and I want my cheeks to pop out.

I plan to use this until Ive finished it but will not be repurchasing as I dont see why I really need. I could use blush with a bit of shimmer and then add one of my favourite highlighters to my cheekbones and it would give the same effect but just better.

For people on a budget this "blush" would be right up your alley to use as a highlighter if your cant see yourself investing in high end products but dont be fooled that its really a blush because its not.

Tips: There are better quality blushes on the market that are also cheap.

Interesting - I just bought this but it arrived around the same time as I bought another one so I haven't played with it. Will be interesting to play and see what happens on my (currently very pale) skin - but a highlighter won't go amiss :p
