Galaxy eyeshadows packed in a beautiful, colourful and fun palette? Heck yes! As soon as I saw this I had to have it. I was intrigued by the colours and I really like baked eyeshadows. When this arrived it far exceeded my high expectations.
The packaging is absolutely gorgeous. It is quite a large palette and is made out of cardboard. The lid of the palette features two cute astronaut girls and it has a large mirror on the inside.
It shuts with a magnetic closure and has 18 baked eyeshadows that are named after planets. Each shadow name is printed above each shadow.
A lot of the shadows have veining in them to represent a planet or have something to do with the galaxy. Each shadow is super shimmery and appear as follows;
Sun: This is the first shadow in the palette and looks like the sun! It is a warm gold shadow that has pretty red veins through it. It swatches out as a warm gold.
Jupiter (one of my faves): Jupiter is a deep pink (almost red), that swatches very similar to how it appears in the palette.
Prometheus: This appears as silver with red veins in the palette. When swatched out it appears silver with a slight red tinge.
Aphrodite: A deep red with slight pink shimmers in it. This swatches true to pan.
Milk Way: Similar to Aphrodite, this is silver with lilac veining. It swatches out to silver with pinkish shimmers.
Cosmic: A beautiful lilac shimmery shade that swatches as it appears in the palette.
Saturn: This is gold with red veining. When swatched it appears as a lighter gold than Sun, with red undertones.
Venus: A bright, pigmented, shimmery orange! Swatches exactly as it looks in pan.
Meteor: An ice blue with sky blue veining. This swatches out as a beautiful pale blue (almost silver), with a slightly deeper blue undertone.
Comet: A aqua/baby blue that swatches as it appears.
Earth: A silver base with light and dark blue veining. This swatches out to an incredible blue that mimics the colour of the sky.
Neptune: This appears as a mid tone blue and swatches out as such.
Mercury (another fave): A red brown with light blue veining - this swatched out to a gorgeous brown with a slight blue shimmer.
Mars: A red brown that appears red brown on the lid ;)
Asteroid: A cool brown with blue veining. This swatches out to a taupe that has a blue sheen.
Uranus: An ice blue colour that swatches out to a colour a polar bear would wear :P
Moon: This has a white/silvery/blue base with brown veining. This swatches out to a purplish taupe with a hint of blue.
Eclipse (yet another fave): An absolutely gorgeous blue/silver purple. This swatches out true to pan and is stunning.
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. I think it is such a versatile and unique palette - you can create both wild and subdued looks. The price for what you are getting is amazing and the quality doesn't suffer whatsoever.
I originally purchased this purely for the AWESOME design. I absolutely love the galaxy theme and just 'had to' get it. I purchased mine from dollmeup.co.nz and am happy I did as I absolutely love it (for more than just its cute design).
First of all the baked shadows in planet appropriate colours are just too cute for words and the packaging is one of my favourites of the many palettes I own. It is sturdy and bigger than I expected also which is cool.
The palette includes 18 shades which I would describe as:
Sun - A warm frosty gold
Jupiter - A warm frosty pink
Prometheus - Frosty white with a reddish hint
Aphrodite - A warm frosty red pink toned shade
Milky way - Frosty pale cool toned pink
Cosmic - Frosty lilac
Saturn - Pale frosty warm toned gold
Venus - Bright frosty orange
Meteor - Pale Frosty white with hint of blue
Comet - Frosty aqua blue
Earth - Frosty ocean blue
Neptune - Frosty darker blue (not quite as dark as a navy)
Mercury - Frosty cool toned light brown
Mars - Frosty warm toned medium brown/coppery shade
Asteroid - Frosty cool toned Taupe
Uranus - Frosty icy blue
Moon - Frosty cool toned taupe with a purple hue
Eclipse - Frosty cool toned darker purple
I love that all shades even with the multiple coloured shades mix to a lovely wearable shadow. I particularly like the shade moon and think it is a pretty unique but awesome neutral taupe shade.
I am super impressed with the quality of these shadows too considering the price I paid for the palette. The shades are beautifully pigmented, long lasting and don't give me issues with fall out.
I think most of the shades are very wearable and I will get a lot of use out of many of the shades (but, maybe not Venus (the orange), as I really don't like orange in general). It would have been cool to see a few matte shades included but even without them I am pretty happy.
I would definitely recommend this palette as it is not only super fun and cute but contains some really nice shades of great quality that look great on the lid. It is definitely a value for money kind of palette. Obviously if your not a fan of shimmery shadows though this would not be your cup of tea, but, to all my fellow shimmer fans...what are you waiting for!
Tips: Apply wet for a more vibrant look. Use a primer to help with longevity, pigmentation and fallout.
