I was on the search for something a bit different to use for eyeliner rather than the age old pencil or liquid liner. That is when I stumbled across this Rimmel Scandal Eyes Gelpot Liner in my local Farmers store. I paid the full RRP for this but $18 to me is normal for eyeliner. At first glance I could already tell that it would last me a long while so value for money is definitely there. The pot itself is clear and has a black screw top lid which keeps the product from drying. It's quite fitting that there is a crown on top of this gel liner because it's a jewel in it's own right. I know it's the Rimmel brand but to me a crown goes on top of something that is great and deserving and this certainly is!
It comes with an application brush which for me is a little too thick so I bought the Real Techniques eyeliner brush which I find is far easier to use. It has less bristles and seems far easier to use to get perfect lines. The consistency of the gel is velvety smooth almost like cream eyeshadow or blush. The concept of painting my eyeliner on is quite novel but I trudge on, excited about the outcome. I start with minimal product on my brush so that I don't end up with blobs of gel liner on my lids. I start from the inside of my eye lid and carefully pull the brush along my lid to create a perfect line. I get a perfect line almost every time with the exception of the few times when my hand has been unsteady. It's quite pigmented and stands out no sweat. I often need to re-dip to get the same amount of product across the lid. I got this gel liner in black but brown is also available for those who prefer something not so intense and harsh.
The stay power and smudge proof promises are definitely fulfilled with this. I went to town early in the morning and then out to tea straight afterwards and my eyeliner was still flawless. I was so anxious about it staying that every hour or so I would check in my phone camera to make sure there were no panda eyes! Thank gosh it stayed in place. All my skepticism was put t rest after this. I put it to the ultimate test by wearing it on my lower lash line. This is a tricky place because it's close to my tear ducts and also because my eyes get irritated by products at time. I used less this time so my eyes didn't sulk too much. Shopping trip to town for three hours and my gel liner is still perfect!! I am all in with a grin. I am a fan and a believer, I just wish it came in more statement colours like purple and turquoise. My life then would be complete hehe
This eyeliner I was skeptical about as have always been old fashioned using a pencil liner. I purchased this product yesterday and had to try it the moment I walked in the door. Great it comes with its own applicator brush and instructions on how to apply. Mind you you really do not need the instructions as this is so easy and user friendly to apply. Dare I even say it is easier than a pencil. The line the brush draws is even and fabulous coverage. No rubbing back and forth , just paint the lines you require. I do not think I would go back to using the pencil again. Cleaning up is a breeze. Just wipe the brush with a clean tissue after each use.
