Oral-B iO Series 9 Electric Toothbrush

WOW! I was ridiculously excited to be one of the lucky people chosen for this incredible trial! I've always used Oral B electric toothbrushes but a toothbrush at this value was never something I'd ever considered spending money on, so to have the opportunity to try it was once in a lifetime stuff. (As always, thanks BR Babes, you are truly amazing!)

The package came with the brushing unit, 2 heads, a case for the heads and a cool chargeable travel case along with chargers. The travel case is going to be fabulous to store my brush in and keep it charged when I go away for work. I guess a point to note here is that the head is different from other Oral B toothbrushes, so if you have spare heads, you wont be able to use them on this unit. The magnetic charging base is also different from the other models - I was a little sceptical at the brush falling off the charger as it has a flat charging platform, but the magnet is strong enough to keep it in place, and actually makes it heaps easier to keep clean.

When I opened the box I was really looking forward to see what info was in there to convince me that this toothbrush would change my life (at such a high price point it has to right?). Initially I was a little disappointed with the limited info in the pamphlet, but then I realised it had the QR code, and because it had the interactive app, that was where I should start for info. . Downloading the app was easy (iphone), and it setting the brush up with my personal settings was super easy. The app has some really great suggestions, and tracks how you are brushing your teeth.

My first brush - I freaked out because I thought I had chipped a tooth, but it was actually a flake of plaque (gross!!!) that came away - so clearly, this brush is amazing! The colour settings are awesome to guide you to show whether you are applying enough pressure - interestingly it was really clear I hadn't been applying enough pressure because I really had to concentrate to get it to green. This brush has the 30sec buzz reminders which are really helpful, although if you have the app running at the same time when you're brushing, it doesn't do the little buzz. At the end of a brush, you can check the app to see where you have missed any areas, if you were too light or if you applied too much pressure.

I've tried all the settings, and love the intense one, and the tongue clean. There's something really helpful and purposeful about using this brush that makes me want to keep my teeth clean and get that 100% score on the app! Although the brush is up there in price, when you consider what a dentist visit costs - I really think this is worth it. My teeth have never felt so clean, I have never been so excited to brush before, and to be able to identify areas that need more attention is going to prevent tooth decay.

This is definitely the most exciting and advanced tooth product I've ever used.

This brush itself is nice and sleek, black finish with a screen which tells you what brush mode you're using, how long you've been brushing, and the battery level when it's not being used. I was previously using the old school Oral B electric brush which tended to just slowly die on you, usually mid brush, so this addition is great.

The brush comes with a stand-up magnetic charger, but also comes with a travel case which has its own charger which charges the brush inside the case.

The brush has multiple settings - Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whiten, Intense, Super Sensitive, Gum Care, and Tongue Clean. Sensitive and Whiten are my two preferred settings, and I try to remember to finish each brush off using Tongue Clean.

Where this brush gets interesting is when you use the app, and use "guided brushing", using this you can see in real time which areas of your mouth have had a sufficient clean and which areas need some more love. You can also brush without using the app and just view it after to see how well you've done. The interesting thing about this is, if you're like me, you'll find out that there were areas that were being neglected when just doing your regular brushing routine. I have found the guided brushing so useful for ensuring I am brushing for the recommended amount of time and covering all areas of my mouth. My teeth are always left feeling super clean, just like leaving the dentist, and I have had zero gum bleeding while using this brush.

If this product is in your price range - it is definitely a worthy investment that may reduce those spenny dentist visits!

Straight up amazing toothbrush! Love that it has an app to guide your clean and to give challenges to keep you going. Easy to use and charge. Love that it comes with a travel container. Eay to charge and swap the brush and clean it all. Love it and definitely will recommend to family and friends.

The round brush head from Oral-B is gentle and uses micro-vibrations. I definitely felt the difference after even a single use. Gums feel healthier, teeth feel cleaner and smoother (even though I always brush twice a day before this).

The app on your phone is great, and the interactive brush handle. There are different brushing modes to use, example a daily clean but if you have sensitive gums or teeth there is a sensitive mode to use. The brush handle is cute, it greets you when you turn it on, says goodbye, and gives a smile for a good job. Your app will let you know your brushing style and helps to guide you to cover all your teeth, so you never miss a spot. It is so easy to use and follow. The prompts of extras are great, like flossing, mouth wash, tongue clean.

There are little achievements and medals to keep you going, and different challenges to try. It's quite cool to look at each day once you've done your cleaning.

There is a pressure sensor to help keep you from brushing too hard to protect your gums and teeth.

I was incredibly fortunate to receive the Oral-B iO Series 9 toothbrush to trial. You can buy these wee gems for around $450 at the moment but they range up to around $800. That's a lot of money but when compared with, for example, whitening treatments at a dentist, you could argue that it is value for money. As I've never used an electric toothbrush before, I only have the good 'old-fashioned' mechanical one to compare it to. Here's where it gets interesting, though. It took a bit of getting used to in terms of feeling like I was at the dentist - not my all-time favourite place to visit, but this odd feeling didn't last long and would only have been because I wasn't used to an electric toothbrush. My teeth honestly did feel cleaner after using the Oral-B iO and I can say hand on heart that my teeth are noticeably whiter - even after only a short time using this toothbrush. I chose the whitening setting as this was what I saw as an area of need and I was pleasantly surprised. I also found out that I had not been brushing my teeth for nearly long enough all these years, so this was another bonus in terms of looking after my teeth. The timing function is great - you get a sad face if you haven't brushed for long enough and a smiley face with stars when you have. I quite liked the fun factor of this. Another absolute bonus is that this toothbrush is bluetooth and has an app so you can really make sure you are looking after all aspects of oral hygiene - that's got to be a bonus in avoiding the drill at the dentist! You can use it without the app but it's great fun to explore all the different settings and options and it keeps you on track with progress if you're focused on the whitening function. It also tracks how you are brushing your teeth so that you can see if you are missing spots on a regular basis. This Daily Coaching feature is actually pretty cool. You can use the app and brush and it records how you are brushing your teeth. All you need to do to connect the toothbrush to the app is to turn both on and shake the brush. The Oral-B iO comes with a spare brush head in a nifty wee container and you can also set up a reminder in the app for when you need to change it. I'm still new to the world of electric toothbrushes and I'm continuing to explore the app and other features but I'm loving this experience and have really noticed a difference in how my teeth look and feel. I'm still not sure regarding how expensive this is, but if I'm already noticing an obvious difference in the short time I've had this brush, then I think I'm sold.

I can hands down say this is THE most amazing product i've used in a long time. I used to use a rechargeable toothbrush many years ago but then got out of the habit so I was intrigued to see if a bit of technology could make a difference.

Can it heck as like! This toothbrush is a sleek black number, it has many different settings depending on your cleaning need (whitening/sensitive/intense). It has a light on it which guides you to get the best position on each tooth and you can download an app which connects to the device and measures you how good your technique is and where you're missing out.

Having as an adult spent $1000's on orthodontics, and recently a complete teeth overhaul I cannot believe how amazing this product is. You seriously feel like you've been to the hygienist. It's also extremely addictive to use, try stop me cleaning after every meal now! Just to finish it off it has a gorgeous protective travelling case to stop it turning on in transit.

I love love LOVE it. Not cheap but it's an investment. Do it!

I absolutely love this toothbrush! Where do I begin?! I have very sensitive gums that often bleed from brushing too hard with a manual toothbrush, I also have weak enamel and regularly get my teeth cleaned with the hygienist. My hygienist suggested I try an electric toothbrush so I can’t wait to tell him and my dentist how amazing this one is! I’m still getting through all of the features, so far I really love the super sensitive mode and gum care, the pressure sensor is really helpful and also the whitening works well, I am noticing a difference and seeing whiter, shinier teeth already! It feels like I have just had my teeth professionally cleaned. The app is awesome and I’m enjoying being able to track my brushing and personalise my settings, this toothbrush is next level amazing! I highly recommend it if you’re serious about having a professional clean feel and if you’d like all the amazing features including an awesome app, I use it on my iPhone and am super impressed, it is very easy to use and so useful. I love how it tells me if I have missed a spot when brushing, this is so great for ensuring no plaque remains and limits holes forming. I look forward to continued use and seeing all the ongoing features like being told when to change the toothbrush head and seeing a pattern of my brushing habits build up. It’s also super sleek and lovely to use, this is an incredible toothbrush for keeping my teeth on tip top shape and having a really healthy smile.

I was lucky enough to be selected for the trial team for this super product. I will admit to having a certain degree of scepticism around the need for such a "fancy toothbrush", the price tag is on the high side and I did wonder how much better it could be than other electric toothbrushes I have tried that had less features and much smaller price points - I mean an electric toothbrush is an electric toothbrush right? Oh so very wrong was I! Right from the moment I opened the package I could see the quality in this product. The brush handle is a nice size and weight and has a decent sized LED display. The replaceable heads can be stored in the included container, and there is also a travel case (which can be plugged in and used to charge the brush). The charger is a really cool disc thing that the brush balances on and seemed to me to charge really quickly. It was hard to really gauge the speed of the chargers because even though I have been really putting the brush through its paces over the last week the battery is yet to drop below 50%. The brush itself is packed with features, like the colour ring on the brush handle that glows blue/green/red depending on whether you are achieving the correct pressure while brushing and the brush head that made my teeth feel at least as clean as professional cleans at the dentist. The brush has a timer that counts down the two minute brushing time, with a vibration every 30 secs so you can attack each quadrant in the mouth evenly. The Oral B app is where this brush really gets its WOW factor. My fave features are the reminder to replace your brush head and of course the 3D map of the mouth that has teeth that change colour and show you when all areas of the tooth have been brushed long enough. You can also use the History to map your progress over up to 3 months worth of data. If you are the competitive type then the Challenges will be right up your alley with "medals" awarded for different challenges with goals such as "fresh breath" and "whitening". There are many other features and options that I am sure I will discover with more usage but here are my Pros and Cons after one week of use Pros - The clean that you get was superior to any other toothbrush I have ever used. The brush held its charge really well and charges on the very cool looking charger quickly. Wow, what a toothbrush this is! I read the reviews and was sold on the toothbursh - it was on the Christmas Wishlist. THEN I got an email from the present fairies at Beauty Review to say I'd won one. Much excitement at our place, I can tell you! Its sleek, black shape with lights to show you when yove got it in the right position, is just beautiful. So, I've been using it for the past month and am very happy with the clean it does. I have receding gums which sometimes bled & felt like I could never quite get the clean 100% right. Well, as said above, it lights red when its not in the right position, so you can change the angle for a better clean. I really like the different programmes you can choose - 7 in all - eg, every day, sensitive teeth, whiten, extreme.... and two of my favouties - healthy gums and a tongue clean which I do at the end. It nags you to continue for at least 2 mins (a frowny face tells you when you've not done it long enough) and there are vibrations each 30 secs to let you know progress. This is great because I realised I wasn't cleaning for long enough before. And the best thing is that my receding gums seem to be reversing!!!!! I do also use a healthy mouth blend to help with this, but I'm sure the toothbrush is contributing a lot to healthier gums. There is an interactive App you can download to give you more features & information, but my Android phone wouldn't connect to it, so I can't comment on this. Others seem to have found it helpful. Maybe with an Apple?? The other thing is finding replacement heads. The box comes with 2 heads, so that's 6 months of cleaning. But, when I had a look around Christmas, no one (5 stores I went into) had stocks of the special toohbrush heads. You can't use the genercic ones, so these might be fairly costly. Maybe it was a supply issue, but if there are none to buy, then its just an expensive toy. The price caused me a real pause when I first looked at buying it - it seems an awful lot to pay full price. However, there seem to be ongoing bargains you can search out which make it much more affordable. Still an "investment" to buy. These pause points lost a point on the recommendation scale for me, but I'm still really liking the toothbrush & recommend it with these caviats.

This toothbrush gives an exceptional clean compared to even other electric toothbrush models. The charging travel case was so amazing while travelling in the USA. The spart plug it comes with allows you to plug it in with just a normal travel adapter, no need for one with a transformer to convert voltage. App connectivity is so handy and easy to use. I love you can customise the light ring colours also.
