I have recently become a proud owner of a MAC lipstick. Yes its taken me a while as the price of them has put me off but after seeing eveyone rave about them and learning about the color Craving I knew I had to try at least one.
The color is amazing but the lipstick is so buttery it feels amazing on my lips. The staying power isn't bad but I had hoped it would last a little bit longer but it is so mositurising on my lips I can't expect it to.
Can't wait to get a few more as theres more colors jumping out to me each time I look.
After all the hype of "once you go MAC, you never go back" and nearly every Youtuber thinking you're sinning if you don't have MAC - yeah, okay, that might be a little far fetched, but you get it, right? - I decided to buy MAC.
But not at $40 per lippy because ain't nobody got time for that! But at about $30 per lippy, because of shipping costs from the US.
So, happily purchasing the MAC Rihanna Viva Glam set for Christmas I could also say that I had MAC lipsticks. And I could pull them out for re-application in a fancier restaurant where people would notice it was MAC and I'd get my money's worth. Because that's why you buy brand names... Don't lie. ;)
So, is this really worth the $30-$40 per lipstick?
Probably not.
First of all, I don't like the smell. It smells like vanilla, but you know the classification of "old-lady scents" - this falls into that category for me.
Secondly, I have Honeylove - it's a matte beige and it has zero lasting power. The most I can get is about four hours without touch-ups, my Jordana's do better than that. It also flakes, and it sinks into the lines on your lips. *Please note that I do sugar scrub my lips everytime before I use it, and I apply lipbalm. The other two are frosts - and they don't last very long either, but about the same as Honeylove. So, it doesn't matter if you buy matte or frost or whatever, they're bound to last the same length.
The bullet is much smaller than I imagined it to be, but there's still quite a lot of product inside.
It has a really creamy consistency though, it glides on effortlessly and apart from the matte that is drying, the others don't dry out your lips. The red does stain my lips a bit though.
Would I repurchase?
Yes. It's MAC. This is one brand I would definitely purchase only for the name, and even if that makes me a brand snob - I don't care. Because once you go MAC, you NEVER go back.
Tips: Google a lot of swatches if you are planning to buy online. I can't stress that enough, even if you think it will suit your skin tone, it might not always be the case.
