matte

Okay, so im one of those girls who loves me a matte lippy. My lips domt dry out easily, and I feel very self concious when im wearing lipstick as I always have to check its not going everywhere. Matte lipsticks just stay. In saying that, MAC does the best matte lippys out. Ive tried a fair few, and it may only just be me, but they truely are a godsend. Even the Amplified formula give off a similar staying power as a matte but are quite a bit creamier.

Tips: Get that stuff duty free, ladies! :*

First ever MAC purchase

I have only recently purchased myself a few MAC lipsticks due to being addicted to them since my secret santa got me Herione which is a matte finish.

I have the shades: Herione - a purple which is a matte finish Rebel - a deep plum which is a satin finish Velvet Teddy - a brown nude which is a matte finish Lady Danger - a orange red which is a matte finish

I understand why everyone thinks the packaging looks like a tampon. But the packaging of these lipsticks are classic and instantly recognisable. These lipsticks also smell divine and remind me of vanilla essence.

The matte formula is drying but it is super long lasting and are by far the most pigmented. The satin formula isn't drying and feels amazing on its own on your lips. I have found this formula is a little matte but has a nice sheen to it. I have found that this formula doesn't last as long as the matte lipsticks. I have found both finishes go on smoothly and evenly.

Now, my favorite one so far is Velvet Teddy and has actually became my all time favorite lip color. I definitely think these lipsticks are worth the price tag.

Tips: Use a lip scrub at the start of your makeup routine to help prep your lipstick. Then use a lip balm to help ensure hydrated lips. These tips will help the lipstick to go on smoother and also last longer.

Fantastic!

My first ever MAC lipstick was in the shade Fanfare and I fell in love with it. It was a cremesheen and it was easy to apply and the shade was ideal for everyday wear. Since then my collection has grown a fair few. I now own 5 MAC lipsticks and because of their huge range of shades and formulas it seems that I never fail to find a new shade to take home when I'm at the MAC store. Personally my favourite formula is the Cremesheen range simply because of the ease with which they apply and how easy they are to work with. That being said however, I do also own a Matte formula - Pink Plaid, and 2 Amplified Creme formulas - Up The Amp and Girl About Town. They are beautiful lipsticks to use and I would recommend them to all of my friends!

Tips: Always prep lips before applying a lipstick by using a lip balm or lip scrub to aid staying power of the lipsticks. Using a lip liner increases the longevity of the lipstick and helps to create a crisp edge. When applying a matte shade (which can be more difficult); prep lips with a lip balm to provide extra moisture for the matte formula to soak up before it starts on your lips - this will help it to look better for longer; matte lipsticks dry out so warm up the end on the back of your hand for smoother lip application; keep lips moisturized throughout the day to help keep the matte finish looking its best. Hope some of these things help!

Stunning

I have recently become a proud owner of a MAC lipstick. Yes its taken me a while as the price of them has put me off but after seeing eveyone rave about them and learning about the color Craving I knew I had to try at least one.

The color is amazing but the lipstick is so buttery it feels amazing on my lips. The staying power isn't bad but I had hoped it would last a little bit longer but it is so mositurising on my lips I can't expect it to.

Can't wait to get a few more as theres more colors jumping out to me each time I look.

MAC, MAC, MAC.

After all the hype of "once you go MAC, you never go back" and nearly every Youtuber thinking you're sinning if you don't have MAC - yeah, okay, that might be a little far fetched, but you get it, right? - I decided to buy MAC.

But not at $40 per lippy because ain't nobody got time for that! But at about $30 per lippy, because of shipping costs from the US.

So, happily purchasing the MAC Rihanna Viva Glam set for Christmas I could also say that I had MAC lipsticks. And I could pull them out for re-application in a fancier restaurant where people would notice it was MAC and I'd get my money's worth. Because that's why you buy brand names... Don't lie. ;)

So, is this really worth the $30-$40 per lipstick?

Probably not.

First of all, I don't like the smell. It smells like vanilla, but you know the classification of "old-lady scents" - this falls into that category for me.

Secondly, I have Honeylove - it's a matte beige and it has zero lasting power. The most I can get is about four hours without touch-ups, my Jordana's do better than that. It also flakes, and it sinks into the lines on your lips. *Please note that I do sugar scrub my lips everytime before I use it, and I apply lipbalm. The other two are frosts - and they don't last very long either, but about the same as Honeylove. So, it doesn't matter if you buy matte or frost or whatever, they're bound to last the same length.

The bullet is much smaller than I imagined it to be, but there's still quite a lot of product inside.

It has a really creamy consistency though, it glides on effortlessly and apart from the matte that is drying, the others don't dry out your lips. The red does stain my lips a bit though.

Would I repurchase?

Yes. It's MAC. This is one brand I would definitely purchase only for the name, and even if that makes me a brand snob - I don't care. Because once you go MAC, you NEVER go back.

Tips: Google a lot of swatches if you are planning to buy online. I can't stress that enough, even if you think it will suit your skin tone, it might not always be the case.

An Obsession

This seems like an embarrassing review to write. My collection of MAC lipsticks seems rather large, especially when I think about the money I must have spent! When I started with makeup it seemed like MAC was all that was on YouTube, and all that I bought. Then I learnt about the limited edition packaging/collections. Oh just give me pretty packaging and it seems like I'll buy anything.

When buying by MAC try not to be intimidated by the girls at the counter! I have had both good and bad experiences. These days though I do buy quite a bit of my MAC products from online from the MAC Cosmetics website directly using my YouShop account as it is quite a bit cheaper.

The packaging is classic, I love the black bullet. The only thing I would change about there packaging is so that you could know what colour is which when looking at them. The lipstick itself often has a slight scent of Vanilla, but nothing I notice once it is on the lips.

Be warned each lipstick has a different wear time and effect on the lips depending on the formula. I make sure (now) to look up reviews of each lipstick before I buy it. My favourite place for that is a site called temptalia as she is incredibly candid and honest.

The Loves; Craving - a BR enabled purchase, beautiful rich dark pinky/reddish tone with a glossy finish. A fantastic bright colour that I feel can be worn everyday. Plus it lasts forever on the lips and suits everyone. Spitfire - A limited edition from the Wonder Woman collection (great packaging). It is a true bluish pink that is super bright. A fav. Rebel- A super dark plummy pink. So many people get scared by the darkness of this shade but it's truly beautiful. You can either tap on the lips for a light shade, or in the Winter I love putting a full covering of this on my lips for a more dramatic look.

The Likes; Modesty - This is a darker nude--y pink shade. Lovely finish as it is a cremesheen so it looks almost like a glossy finish. But on a day to day basis I'm more likely to grab a brighter shade. Lustering - My brightest pink, think hot pink. Don't know why I don't reach for this more often (maybe the size of my lipstick collection). Speed Dial - a toned down version of Lustering, don't know why I have both.

The Eh's; Creme Cup - People go crazy over this on YouTube and I thought it would be my perfect nude-y pink shade. But it is a super pale pink and it just washes me out and makes me look sick, perfect for a darker skin-tone I think. Double-Spin - super duper pale pink from a limited edition, in a white tube that is super beautiful. Too bad the shade looks deathly on me. Fantasia - a dark reddy brown that looks really too dark on me. From a limited edition set.

Overall there are so many shades and finishes anyone can find a perfect shade for them. However they are quite expensive so make sure that you find something you truly love before purchasing as there are many lovely cheaper lipsticks out there.

Obsessed!!

I am absolutely obsessed with Mac lipsticks! My collection is fair too large considering that I only wear lipsticks when I go out but I can just not help myself! I love all the variety of different colours and how two lipsticks are never the same! All the different finishes are amazing, and although sometimes I find that the matte finish of some of the lipsticks is drying by applying a simple lip balm before applying the matte lipstick works wonders! My favourites are definitely crème cup and sushi kiss!

Tips: BUY ONE RIGHT NOW

My Current Obsession!

I completely adore these lipsticks! All of the finishes are awesome (matte is my favourite - so long lasting!) and the colour range is great. The longevity of each formula and colour does vary so be sure that you swatch and test the colours out before you buy as they look so different on each individual and wear differently too. I have only just started my collection but I already know that these will be my go-to lipsticks for as long as I have lips! I would say my favourite 2 colours for a fair lady like me would be rebel in winter as it is the perfect deep colour without being to dark and washing me out and please me for every day as it is nude enough to wear with almost any makeup look but you can still tell you have colour on.

Tips: Prep your lips first. I use a LUSH Sugar Scrub before hand and with the matte formulas I use a lip balm before I apply. This helps to make the lipstick last longer. I always apply lip liner to help with longevity too :)

Wish I jumped on the band wagon sooner!

I was given my fist M.A.C lipstick from a friend for Christmas - Lady Danger. A vibrant orangey-red. She could not have picked a better colour!

The packaging is sleek, sophisticated & iconic. I love the matte finish of Lady Danger, it's the first matte lipstick I've tried that hasn't felt really drying on the lips. I couldn't believe that lasting power! The fist time I wore it was Christmas day, lots of eating and drinking. I would pop off to touch up my lipstick & find it wasn't necessary!

Long lasting, super pigmented & smear proof - no wonder it was voted the 2014 Best Lipstick!

Tips: Definitely use a lip liner with this shade, it can bleed. I like to change it up between a red or orangey lip liner - I go for a red if I want it to look more red, and orange for the orange tones to really sing out!

Mac is love, Mac is life.

Everyone knows Mac lipsticks and everyone is talking about it! I was hesitant at first due to the price and whether they are as good as they sound. Regardless the price they are worth every penny!!!!!!!! I recently started my mac lipstick collection so I only have two , which are Mocca and Please Me. Mocca is a satin finish and Please Me matte, they both go on smoothly, especially Please Me being a matte finish it glides on easily and isnt drying to the lips at all! I am NC40 both the colours looks beautiful on that skin tone. Especially Mocca it's the perfect nude! Highly recommend it, you would n't regret it.

Tips: I bought mine in the stores, if buying online I recommend going into a mac store and trying them out first.
