I don't wear foundation every day, but when I do use it, it needs to stay in place. I used this foundation on my wedding day, and it was fantastic. It stayed in place, it didn't feel too heavy and it looked natural in all the photos. A total win from my perspective.
When I wear this for more casual occasions, I tend to use a fair bit less of it, but it still stays in place. I have never felt like I was wearing too much make up while I had it on, and it matches my very pale skin nicely.
I can't really compare prices since I don't buy foundation enough to know what the 'going rate' is.
I have a love hate relationship with this foundation. Been using it for about 3 months pretty much daily and have been trying to find what the hype is all about. First off, boy is it pricey! But guess being EL thats kind of expected. Have found it to be too cakey when applied with a brush (tried RT expert face brush) so i use my fingers for a less 'full makeup' look. Have found that it oxidises and by about 3pm it doesnt look as 'fresh'. Tends to slip off my nose very easily, especially if i sweat slightly, just turns it into a cakey mess. Broke me out (i havent had pimples in years!) even after washing my face with a makeup removing cleanser twice in the evenings. I guess the only good thing is its an ok colour match (pale almond). I dont think i will repurchase again.
Tips: Use fingers for a 'lighter' coverage. Also, wouldnt say it us 'buildable' at all.
