I first learnt of this product when I was with two friends who both pulled their EOS lipbalms out of their bags and started to use it. They had told me that it was the best lip balm they'd ever used, and that even Kim Kardashian uses it. I thought I have enough lip balms to last me a lifetime, and figured I didn't need to buy one. Fast forward 4 months, and I, like my friends, ended up buying one because it was so cheap! The packaging is unique- a light, round, coloured ball (my cats love to chase it if I drop it), it's an easily recognizable cult item which is surprisingly easy to open, with it's twist top and small dented parts to put your fingers on. Unlike the usual stick balms, the product itself does not go up and down, and so applying the lid can be a tiny bit scary, because if you're not paying attention, you could jab the lid into the product. However, this has yet to happen to me.
When I first opened mine, the first thing I noticed was the strong, fruity smell. I haven't smelt a lipbalm which smelt so sweet! My pink strawberry flavour beats every other flavoured lipbalm I've tried (sorry Body Shop!) and application is smooth. However, I am disappointed overall in the moisturising properties of this lip balm. It is not the smoothest of lip balms, and feels like it sort of layers on top of your lips, and doesn't feel like it's particularly hydrating the inner layers of my skin. I think it also tastes good.. and I can't stop licking my lips, which is probably not a great thing for hydration.
I saw the massive hype about these lip balms and expected them to be amazing. Unfortunately I found that even though they glided on my lips nicely, they slipped off pretty soon after. They didn't last on my lips at all and my lips actually felt worse after using it. The smells are super yummy and the packaging is completely adorable but I expected a lot more from it. I use them as decoration now and if I am desperate for a lip balm and can't find one, but I reach for my others more.
