MAC Pro Longwear Foundation Review

I don't know if I got a bad batch but I just didn't love this foundation. In a big MAC fan but this just didn't work on my skin. I have combination skin and I found that by the end of the day it had gathered around my cheeks and chin and looked cakey. I've never had this issue before and I've never had to powder throughout the day but I think this could have helped. I also found it was ally of work to buff it into the skin which I, once again, haven't found with any other foundation. There was such hype around this foundation I was expecting magic but I just feel disappointed. As soon as it's applied it looks fine but I definatly don't think it's long wearing.

Pro Longwear is sent from the heavens. I have the shade NW18, which is a warm-neutral undertone, and a little bit darker than NW15. I got it colour matched and the girl did a fantastic job as it is a perfect match for me. I apply with a duo fibre stippling brush and it gives a gorgeous airbrushed finish, but still looks quite natural and skin-like, just better! It's slightly dewy, but easy to mattify with a translucent powder. I generally just apply one layer, which is a nice medium-full coverage, but it can be built up to quite a heavy full coverage, although it can be overdone and end up looking cakey if you use too much. I often wear this foundation during ballet classes, and despite sweating and wiping my face, it still stays in place and doesn't start looking funky which is seriously impressive. With a setting powder and finishing spray, I find this foundation easily lasts 10+ hours, and lasts even if I take a nap during the day and have my face against a pillow! My skin is normal to oily, and it doesn't dry my skin out or get shiny anywhere. The pump only releases a small amount of product, so I use 2-3 pumps for medium coverage or 3-4 for fuller coverage. I will be repurchasing this foundation for the rest of my life, I love it to bits.

I've been using this foundation (NW25) for at lesat 8 months now and I have no intentions of changing.

I first started using this because it had full coverage and I had horrific acne and oily skin at the time. It covered very well and I loved it.

Now I am on a medication which dries my skin out, and I no longer have the acne issues. This foundation is still great on my changed skin type.

Another great thing is that I don't take my makeup off to go to the gym, and even after heaps of sweat this stuff stays on my face. I never need to touch up my foundation.

I have had this for about 4 weeks now, and I am still undecided if I actually like this foundation or not.

Everyone who has seen me with it on has said how natural it looks and how well it blends into my own skin. When I look in the mirror, I personally don't think it looks that great.

I use about 4 - 5 pumps of the product to get the coverage I am after. I also use a real techniques brush to apply it (I had been using the XO Beauty Flat Top brush to apply it, but found the application of the foundation took too long).

One positive I can take from this foundation is how long wearing it is. I usually do 10 hour shifts at work and when I get home I notice how much my foundation has last (this may have something to do with the fact that I use a primer and a setting powder on top of the foundation).

I got colour matched at a MAC counter but like I have said before, I am still not sure if the colour is right for me. It is a NW 40 (which is the same colour I use in the MAC studio fix), but to me it seems to be a lot lighter than the studio fix foundation in the same colour. Everyone else reckons that it matches me perfectly, but I don't know.

I am going to give the application of this another go with a real technique sponge (when I receive it). Until then, the rating is going to stay the same)!

This is the first MAC foundation I have bought and used and I am pleasantly delighted by it. It gives me a nice medium coverage that is has a quite natural finish to it. I find it perfect for myself as it is a foundation I can wear during my day to day life but also when I am going out at night time. It is a lightweight and creamy formula that stays on all day despite feeling like a have nothing on. I apply it with either a flat-top brush or beauty blender but find applying it with a beauty blender gives it a more flawless finish.

I recently went on a MAC makeup shopping spree after reading all the great reviews on BR about MAC products. When at the counter the MAC man suggested I use the Pro longwear foundation. I have been really happy with this foundation. It gives a medium to full coverage that is buildable without being to heavy or cakey. It goes on really nicely with a foundation brush and drys with a natural not too matte not too dewy finish. It stays on my skin all day and goes perfect with the studio fix powder and matte bronzer. I prefer this as an everyday foundation as it hasn't made my skin change breakout and really lasts. It is great that it comes in a pump bottle to avoid any mess.

MAC Pro Longwear is amazing! I personally always own a MAC Foundation at one point in time, and it’s either Studio Fix or Pro Longwear. Still trying to work out which one I prefer better, but with the staying power that comes with the MAC Pro Longwear I think I’m starting to find a favourite.

Most of us are all after the same thing when it comes to foundation, something that will last? Well, most products I have found claim to last all day in some way or another. But this one little beauty ticks nearly all the boxes. It can applied for a light coverage but also built up to a more heavier coverage. The foundation initially gave a dewy finish, but I usually set my foundation with Rimmel “Stay Matte” Powder.

I am used to using double wear (which is very matte), so when I started using this , my skin looked really natural and dewy. The coverage is average and I use the prolongwear concealer(which is also great) to hide my flaws and I love the finish.

I use this in the colder drier season because I have very oily skin and it makes me look greasy in the hot season. This doesnt accentuate dry patches and with a little bit of setting powder it lasts long !

Everyone does talk Pro Longwear up but I unfortunately have found some flaws.

Don't get me wrong, it's long lasting and doesn't get patchy throughout the day. I do however, find that after a few hours the finish does get a bit tacky and doesn't look that great in photos. I love love love it however, as it does last the day.

I apply pro longwear then apply MAC mineralize liquid foundation to areas that I want high lighted. I apply it to my cheeks, chin and forehead then contour, blush and highlight as per normal. This method is how I get the BEST finish and wear out of Pro Longwear.

I own MAC pro-longwear foundation in NW20 for summer and N18 for the rest of the year and it is my number 1, go-to foundation.

I find it gives a medium coverage and manages to stay on my skin all day long, even when I'm at work.. and I'm a swimming teacher!!

I apply it using either a stippling brush or a buffing brush, but its so versatile you could almost use anything. I find that if you want a fuller coverage, some concealer and a bit of setting powder does the trick.

I also love the pump bottle, its not messy like my Revlon colorstay and the pump can lock so it can't mess up your make-up bag and you won't lose any product.

I really love this foundation, the only down-side is that it is a bit pricey for my everyday foundation at around 70 NZD, so I do end up opting for my colorstay quite often.
