Is it Important for a Company to Give Back?

It's probably safe to say that beauty products and treatments make us feel good.  It's also probably safe to say we all like doing something nice for someone else.  But does feeling good, and indeed making someone else feel good, influence our choice of products?

Now sure, a company releasing a product that gives part of the proceeds to worthwhile causes isn't a necessarily a new idea, but you must admit, it is a nice one.  So how about a company that not only donates to charity with EVERY product sold, but also keeps YOU safe?

Today's brand is the Cancer Society NZ.  They've raised over $2 million to cancer research since 2013.  $2 million - that's huge!

We're looking for members to trial the Cancer Society SPF 50+ Ultra Cool Beach Sun Spray.  This quick drying easy to apply formula offers very high protection in a one touch continuous spray.

This sunscreen offers amazing benefits including:

  • Extra cooling sensation
  • Quick drying
  • Easy to apply
  • Non greasy
  • UVA/UVB broad spectrum

As usual we're looking for a trial team of thorough testers and great review writers to give it a whirl.  Fancy a spot on this team?  Tell us - what do you think of beauty with a conscience?  Should companies give back? And does public support of a charity impact where you choose to spend your money?

The full Cancer Society NZ sunscreen range can be purchased from sunscreen.org.nz

I love that they have a conscience.

I think it's great that buying a sunscreen that we all need also gives money to a charity especially one where cancer has impacted so many of us (from personal experience). I'm a great fan of sprays for sun screen and have tried quite a few, I'd like to see if this one would beat my favourite.

For me the commitment to giving back shows that not only is the company committed to its purchasing customers but it is committed to supporting those that may not be able to afford it but will benefit from it. This can also be a case of future customers. In the case of supporting charity events it is a great publicity level to get the name out to encourage future support but also to promote new products that you may be bringing out. For this reason , I will definitely support businesses that support charities over ones that don't work with charity organizations. As if I can give my time to run charity collections 6 times a year then there is no reason a business earning that sort of money cant work with supporting those in need.

I always think more favourably about companies that give something back. It suggests that they are not just there to make money. This sunscreen sounds really good too. I have not tried spray on sunscreen before.

I think a company who gives back is amazing. I would be more likely to buy products from companies who care about people or the environment. I always buy one sun product from Cancer Society every year because I know while I'm taking care of my skin, they're using the profit to take care of people with cancer.

Sunspray a must here, it absolutely gets into those annoying areas I can't quite reach on my own, not seen another brand other than Banana Boat so excited to see Cancer Society NZ has developed for us :)

Summer is here, and so is the slip, slop, slap. I buy products with a strong brand message and certainly more likely to buy if it includes a message with a conscience - it shows the company is open to giving back to the community. The NZ Cancer Society is smart marketing, with a important cause for New Zealanders.

It definitely impacts my choice of what to buy, I will tend to go for the one that is for a charity. This is my preferred sunscreen brand although it can be quite expensive! I think it's super important that it gives back to something it relates to. It does make it quite a trustworthy brand to being Cancer Society. Plus "Ultra cool" sounds nice about now! =)

I am certainly more likely to buy from a company that I know gives back, especially when it's something so important as fighting cancer and supporting those affected. I have been looking for a sunscreen that is easy to apply (seriously how am I supposed to sunscreen my back without someone else helping?!), and the cooling sensation sounds amazing!!! Would love to give this product a go.

I think so. Everyone should do something - doesnt havecto be money. The place I work for also gets us involved in a way. They got a nespresso coffee machine and buy the capsules, but we dont get them for free. We can trade 2 cans of food for 5 capsules. Once the basket is full, it gets taken to the auckland mission. For xmas they asked us if we wanted to bring in extras and they would match what everyone put in. I think we ended up putting in about 100 items, so that was doubled. Theres only 20 of us.

A good cause is always attractive

I think beauty with a conscience is great!! To be honest I don't want to buy off a company that doesn't care much for others, no matter how great their products are. I want companies I can relate to - companies that show me yes they are human! Companies don't have to give back but I love the ones that do! Kind helpful companies are definitely more likely to get my money than others that don't give back. Companies that support are charity definitely impact where I spend my money! Not only is the company giving some of the profits to charities, but my purchase is helping this charity too!! So I would much rather spend my money there! The more people that purchase the products the more the charity will get! It's fantastic and I love it. I would love to trail this product because I love and need my SPF products! I'm ginger and I buurn!

This looks a fantastic product for summer, I love that its cooling! I'm definitely far more inclined to support a company when I know they are giving back, especially larger companies that are probably making a substantial profit - its nice to know it isn't all going into the pocket and that its helping others in need

Wow thats a lot that they've raised! Speaking of Cancer society I just purchased a bottle of their popular liquid sunscreen last week, I cant wait to read the reviews on this, a spray sunscreen would be awesome especially for the kids,

I think it is so important for companies to give back. I'm about 400% more likely to buy from a company that is supporting a good cause!

Also this sounds like a great product. Hubby is particularly big on sunscreen sprays - it's the easiest way to sunscreen his shaved head. I'd love to give it a whirl for me and the family!
