Have you tried olive oil soap before?

When you think of soap you probably either think of a heavily scented round in a gift set from your nanna, or an obligatory bar on the side of the sink that never really gets used.

And when you think of using soap on your face or hair you probably shudder at the impending dryness to follow.

But as always, you can't tar all products with the same brush!  Our latest trial opportunity is Sabun Olive Oil Soap with Bay Laurel Oil.  Sabun is a natural soap with no added perfumes or artificial ingredients. This soap has been made in Syria for centuries and is still made to the same recipe which has been passed down through the generations.

Sabun is gentle on the skin and recommended for people with sensitive skin, eczema and psoriasis.  It can even remove makeup!  But wait, there's more - you can even use Sabun on the hair!  It has proven to be excellent for people with dandruff. It has also been shown to be good to combat nits. The nits find it difficult to lay their eggs in the hair shaft due to the olive oil.

Sabun is different from other soaps as it doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients, harmful chemicals or perfumes.  Most commercial soaps are made from animal tallow or fats (sodium tallowate on the label) Animal fats are comedogenic and can block the skins pores.  Sabun is not made from any animal fats but just olive and laurel oils - it contains 80% olive oil which serves as a natural humectant for the skin.

We think this soap sounds amazing - but of course, we're not the ones who are going to be doing the testing - you are!

So if you'd like to trial this product, why not tell us what interests you the most about it.  Would you use it for your sensitive ezcema prone skin, or are you interested in what it can do with regards to dandruff?  Have you used an olive oil soap before or are your soap experiences limited to the regular bathroom bar?

I have never used an olive oil soap before, but I love the idea of it not blocking pores and promoting moisture retention.

I'm not sue or sold on this product. I've used Olive oil based beauty products before & they don't work on me-I wonder if its the smell/fragrance of the particular products. Maybe the bay oil might help with this odour. Good luck to the brave who are willing to trial this product.

I'd be keen to try this for hair washing as I have psoriasis in my hair and this might be effective in helping to relieve the itch.

Wow I have very sensitive skin, ezcema, rosacea, dermatitis you name it so I'm always looking for something to stop the itching and redness related to it. I'd be keen to know how good this soap is as an alternative to boring aqueous cream

I'm really, really fussy with the types of soap I use - they must be very moisturising or I don't want to know. I have used some soaps made specifically for the hair and whilst they work well at cleaning the hair, they have tended to make my hair very course and dry. I am intrigued with this Sabun soap - it sounds like it is a wonder bar and very versatile. Any product that can wash hair, prevent nits, clean the face and body with drying out or blocking pores all at the same time, is worth sampling.

I've used coconut oil treatments so I can imagine that olive oil can do some amazing things too! I get particularly rashy skin in spring and summer - it's an awful form of hayfever and something like this would definitely be worth a shot for that! My partner and I also get very dry scalps and we're experimenting with products at the moment so I'd definitely love to add this one to the mix for that! It sounds great!

I think this soap sounds absolutely AMAZING! I've been struggling with dandruff for ages, as I have dry scalp and sensitive skin. I currently switched to a natural shampoo/ conditioner and it helps a little bit.

I have never tried a Olive Oil Soap before. I'd definitely give it a go on my hair and would love to try it as a makeup remover :) NO added perfumes or artificial ingredients sounds very good to me :)

This sounds very interesting. I can't remember the last time I bought or used soap. I use face wash and body wash. Wow...... olive oil soap. .... would love to trial this product

This sounds really interesting- I've never heard of using a soap on the hair and face before ! I would be keen to dry this on my acne prone face and sebborheic dermatitis on my scalp and see if it helps!

I get extremely dry knees and elbows and no amount of moisturising helps or fixes it. I wonder if something like this would help????? I know Olive OIl is great for your hair, but never thought of it for your skin before!

I've never used olive oil soap before. I'm a real soap fan rather than shower gel but I have to be careful which ones I use as some of them give me eczema. I like that this is an all natural product.

I'd love to use this to remove my makeup since it sounds so gentle, and I'd potentially use it on my hair too, since sometimes I find traditional shampoos harsh and ineffective... love that it has so many uses :)

Would love to try a natural remedy for my dandruff!

17th November, 2015

I would love to try this as I love soaps! My skin is always very dried out after using them though so this could be a game changer!

Would love to give this soap a go, really like other olive products and find its very gentle and my skin feels so hydrated after.
