Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel For Acn

Of all Thursday Plantation acne products, this is the one that I have found to be the most effective.

On standard pimples there was no noticeable difference in speed of healing between using this and using nothing, but on deep pimples I think that it really penetrates the skin and gets things moving.

The scent of the product is quite strong, but that isn't too much of an issue as you're only using it in small doses on small areas, so it's not overpowering.

I would definitely recommend this to be tried as a potential natural alternative to some of the harsher products on the market before moving onto those products.

Made my skin so oily

This was a weird product to use - it smells as expected (tea tree), and went on as expected (like a gel that dries). I used it sparingly on my face, and it didn't help any blemishes, but I think it helped to prevent any more to appear - so that was a good aspect. The bad aspect is that after applying moisturiser and makeup, by lunchtime at work I was shiny and oily and gross. It was at the stage where I was wiping excess oil off my face by mid-afternoon (and of course taking all my makeup off with it). After maybe 3-4 days of this, I stopped using this product and my skin went back to normal. Didn't like this one at all, sorry!

It's definitely helped me!

I have acne prone skin and for me, very few products have worked as they said they would. Therefore, when I tried this, after it being recommended by my cousin, I was really impressed! It helps to dry out those large nasty pimples. You know the ones. Massive and red and just gross. But because it is so drying, only use a little bit and only on the spots where necessary. And always make sure to moisturise afterward.

Confusing at first but you'll get there

I've been struggling with acne for 15 years and I make it quite loud and clear how passionate I am about anything acne related, so seeing BR offering the acne trial I just had to jump. Natural products, trialling in the safety of my own environment, win win for me.

First impression: There are no instructions that occupanies this gel so I was confused about its use. We had received a cream and also a blemish stick so why did I need a gel? Common sense had to prevail and the gel was quite indicative of a stronger spot treatment. So I was not going to plaster my face in this gel but rather use it sparingly and as a spot treatment. Its a strong pungent smell, the texture is quite sticky and clammy so there was no way I could be convinced to dunk my face in this.

First use: I used this in the morning as I had chosen to use the blemish stick at night because I wanted to create and even spread and usage of the 5 products that I received. I hate the feel of the gel and it took forever to absorb into my skin.

Week 1: My skin had broken out real bad because of the cleanser and toner bad boys, so I didnt use this often all. I was too scared I would make the acne worse, because the gel is strong and had this burning sensation when applied onto pimples. It stung my new pimples and it wasnt pleasant at all.

Week 2: Probably my least favourite product right now because it gives my skin a heck of a sting especially on new pimples, but saying that, I put on my big girl pants and toughed it out because I could see and feel it acting as a drawing ointment for the redness and it was healing my pimples.

Week 3: I had 3 hectic painful bolts on my face and after 2 days of using as a spot treatment, those bolts had dried out and gone! Oh and not to brag but day 21 I had NO ACNE!

Week 4: I used it occassionally on some new acne I developed. The gel was making my skin greasy so I only used it when I really needed it. At this stage the gel is managing the new breakouts and not letting them escalate into bolts.

Week 5: Used at night as a spot treatment for 4 consecutive days and by day 34, no pimples!

Week 6: I havent used it all because the new acne I have is not painful, not cystic and not pussy so I dont need to overload my skin with products.

This product is not the best acne product I've used and the stingy benefits are not pleasant, but the pay off... not to have pimples and have this remove painful bolts, is more than enough to keep me using this product in my routine. The benefits it provided me definitely outways the hassle of stinging and potential oiliness when you over use the product. If I product is going to help my acne, I dont what it does to my skin in the interim and long as the result is no pimples!

Tips: Use a spot treament in conjuction with the blemish stick (if you have it) to maximise spot treatment benefit. If I really had to chose I would use the gel instead of the stick soley because of the payoff I received. Its healed my painful acne.

Use at night because the scent is overpowering.

Use at night because it will deeply penetrate your skin while you sleep helping the healing process of the pimples you apply it to.

Common sense: Dont use on your entire face because you will look like an oil spill. Dont use on broken or pussy acne becaue the gel is strong and will make your pimples worse.

I've just got a question regarding your review, when you say you had painful bolts, I don't mean to be rude, is this an acne terminology? Or is is just a typo?

Keeps major breakouts at bay!

This product is a thick, clear gel that you apply to blemish-prone areas. I usually use this at night after cleansing - I find it has a very strong tea tree smell so I don't use it during the day! I apply the gel to areas where I often get breakouts, such as my forehead and chin. I found that this product did reduce the severity of my breakouts, although did not clear them up completely. I could see that I had overall clearer skin which was great! I wouldn't recommend it for someone with severe acne as I don't think the product is powerful enough, but for someone like me with minor acne, it does the trick. Also it's great to know that I'm using a product that contains natural ingredients and no nasties!

Tips: Wash your hands after using this product - it's quite potent and if the product is still on your fingers and you rub or touch your eye area, it really stings!

A Big NO.

I cant say much about this product as it didnt do much, to put it simple if you suffer from acne a lot like I do - My main problem areas are my face and chest - then although this product looks like it does a lot it really doesn't.

For starters, the smell is something to be desired seriously it smells like the nit treatment I had when I was a child.

consistency - The gel felt really thick and I did not like how heavy it felt on my skin, although in saying that it did seem to make it tingle a bit!

Results- The product was great in drying up my acne, but other then that it really did nothing else. It didnt help prevent future break outs, in fact my chest is worse then ever.

Strongly recommend people purchase the Tea Tree range from the body shop and do not recommend purchasing it, as there are a lot of other options out there that are much better.

Huge difference in just 2 days!!!!

This is the most effective thing i have ever used for my acne!! I saw a huge difference after using this product (along with the others) in just 2 days. It reduced the redness and inflammation so well I couldn't believe my eyes! My husband even commented-which he never does. So i would highly recommend this stuff to anyone whether they just have a few minor breakouts or bull blown acne! I'm buying some for my teen brothers :-)

Tips: Use after the toner at night (use the face cream in the morning if you wish, I stopped using it after he first week) and let it dry/absorb before going to bed! Check out the difference in the morning!!

Get the applicator

This seems to be the same stuff as in the tube with the applicator. I initially thought this would be better given it had to go on more sterile being freshly squeezed from the tube each time but have to say I prefer the applicator version for ease of use. I could only ever manage to squeeze too big a blob out at once and this meant I also ended up with too much on each blemish. Says its good on black heads but I didn't see any difference No real fragrance

Tips: Really only good on red, raised blemishes. Does seem to take the redness out

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Medicated Gel For Acn

First off, I couldn't make out any difference between this product and the Tea Tree Blemish Stick, I honestly think this is the same product just in a different container. I like that this is a invisible gel, that absorbs/dries quickly. It smells very heavily of tea tree oil, and the smell does linger on your skin for quite awhile after applying.

Tips: Unfortunately this range of products as a whole, didn't work for me. It seemed to enrage my skins blemishes further, and within one week of stopping use of the products my skin was a lot clearer than when I was using it - although still blemished :(

Acne gel - leaves a lot to be desired

This gel was my least favourite of the Thursday Plantation products during my trial. Although it smelt nice, and that I like the idea of using organic products, I found this had no obvious effect on my acne. It comes out quite sticky and clear, but dries to paste which is visible on your skin. I preferred the Thursday Plantation blemish stick as it was less obvious on the skin. Although this product had a higher concentration of Melaleuca alternifolia oil (which is meant to help bad acne) I felt like this one dried out the acne spots less than the other Thursday Plantation products. This product would probably be more beneficial to people which lesser/moderate acne problems or to maintain, rather than improve, skin.
