I got Lush's Salt and Peppermint Bark because I was in a bit of an exfoliating maddness period (gotta exfoliate before you fake tan) and I thought this might be a festive way to exfoliate.
The Salt and Peppermint Bark is a solid bar made up of salt crystals, cocoa butter, capuacu butter and peppermint oil.
The salt scrubs and exfoliates slightly while the butters are smooth, moisturising and possibly binding the bar together. While the peppermint oil gives off a lovely peppermint scent a bit like a candy cane.
I found the bar crumbled quite easily and that I left a green trail behind me wherever I scrubbed with the bar. So I could have made myself look very Grinch like if I wanted to.
As far as its exfoliating purpose, it exfoliates as much as most things, but I don't think it lasted as long. But it was fun to try.
I was so excited when I saw this added to the lush website, I love minty smelling products in summer they are so refreshing.
So when this arrived It was the first thing from the order that I picked up and had a look at. It feels hard but not solid. I feel if I was going to press my thumb on it quite hard it would crumble. the green block with the red pieces remind me of a candy cane. It's actually like Lush got some candy canes put them in a blender and put it into this bar, not only does it look like blitzed candy canes it smells like them too. Slightly sweet slightly minty, it's in no way overpowering.
I wet my skin and start scrubbing, now I was naughty very naughty I got sunburnt yep the one that is a sunscreen sergeant got burnt, and quite burnt my poor skin started to peel. So I paid particular attention to the tops of my arms and shoulders where the burn was and voila goodbye yucky peely skin.
This isn't as rough on the skin as sugar scrubs, it's quite gentle but very effective, I love how this comes in a bar it's easy to use and hold while in the shower.
You have to be a delicate flower with it though because too much pressure and it will crumble. I got 4 uses out of 1 bar but I did go slightly overboard with the peely skin. It doesn't leave much of a scent on the skin once your finished though.
I have already purchased a second bar and will probably stock up before the silly season ends.
