I love this serum. It's the thinnest serum I have come across and it's great for layering. I apply it nightly after my toner and my skin absorbs it pretty rapidly. I like to apply this before I apply my other serums or facial oils at night as I find this goes deeper and hydrates the deeper layers of skin and then the thicker serums and oils hydrate the horny later of skin and trap in the moisture. I don't think this would moisturize as well if just used by itself unless you have very oily skin. It does have claims on the box to increase type 1 collagen by up to 72%. I haven't noticed an increase in collagen at all but I'm happy to continue using this since it penetrates the deeper layers of skin and moisturizes them better than just using a facial oil. Because the serum is quite thin and water based I do find I go through faster than if it was a facial oil but then I only need to use it once a day. It has a pleasant lavender and rose scent which isn't at all overpowering, but if you don't like the scent it doesn't linger for long. I am not a big fan of lavender and I like the scent. One word of caution though to those with sensitive skin, the box recommends it for all skin types and from experience I don't recommend this for those with sensitive skin. I don't have super sensitive skin but I do find on nights that I like to use clay masks and exfoliate and especially on nights I've used glycolic acid this serum stings a bit when I apply it to my face and my cheeks will turn a bit red. It's gone within a few hours or by the time I wake up in the morning. I talked to a Antipodes product specialist about this and she said it's the vinanza grape extract because it as mild exfoliating properties it can feel a bit stingy upon application if you have sensitive or sensitized skin. She recommended that I either do it every other night or skip it on nights I exfoliate. I still apply it on nights I exfoliate though because although it stings when I apply it, I like to feed my skin the best serums I've got when they can sink in and absorb the best.
Tips: Since this serum is water based it's best used in conjunction with more moisturizing products. I like to wait till Antipodes does a discount or special and then stock up. I recommend that if you have sensitive skin you get a sample to try out first. This is an excellent serum for oily skin but drier skins will benefit as this serum is like giving your skin a drink of water.
