Not pleasant

I was super excited to try this product as I suffer from dry patches on my cheeks and forehead area. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It resembles quite literally cooking oil. It states to use morning and night but after a coupoe of times doing both I had to ditch the morning application so I didn't have to go to work smelling of a deep fryer. My skin remained greasy looking for quite some time after application but it did make my skin feel soft and reduced the dry patches. I would say it works but I just can't get past the smell so will not continue to use frequently

Another Facial Oil

This is another typical facial oil to me. Its not outstanding and not terrible. I may need to test it out for a bit longer to see actual results. My skin didn't have a reaction to this product which is always a fear of mine trailing any new product.

The oil comes in a nice glass bottle with white dropper for easy application. You don't need much as a little goes a long way. I could do my entire face with two drops. If you want more hydration, add more drops. I found that it settled in nicely and wasn't too greasy. The product doesn't have much of a scent which I really appreciate in skincare. I can imagine that since you don't need much of the product that it would last you quite a while.

I think I would need to test it out for a bit longer to fully give my recommendation on the product.

Tips: Apply twice a day to clean, dry skin.

Quick Absorbing

I put my hand up to trail this for my acne scarring and I was lucky to be chosen, which was so exciting! It’s made right here in New Zealand and is certified organic by Bio Gro, which is awesome. I love the packaging, it’s so pretty. It’s a pink box with a 3D like rose. The 30ml glass bottle is frosted which gives it a luxury finish to it. The oil itself is yellow in colour.

I applied 3 drops onto my face during my morning and evening skincare routine. The oil felt thicker than any other oils I’ve used before, but it absorbed into my skin very quickly. It was also non-greasy. I usually dislike the strong scent of rosehip, but this one wasn’t overpowering at all. It was tolerable, which I liked. I’ve only used it for just over a week now, so I haven’t seen any results with the appearance of my acne scarring, but my skin felt very moisturised and my winter dry skin disappeared.

Overall, I think this is a great oil to keep the skin hydrated, especially over winter. As for the scarring, a trial of one week wasn’t enough, so I will need to use it for few more weeks to see the results.

Tips: Use it before applying day or night creams as well as eye cream.

It's Rosehip with extra bits

I'm a daily user of Rosehip oil. This Alpine Silk is very much like every other Rosehip oil I've used, which is good. It has a good viscosity- seems slightly thinner than other brands, perhaps due to the other oils in the mix. It rubbed into my face easily, as expected. The method of getting it out of the bottle is via a built-in good quality glass dropper. Some brands use a dripper, which is not good, so the dropper is better but not best. My current preferred method is via plastic pump, which dispenses the right amount while keeping the top sealed. I find that with containers with droppers tend to gunk up around the edge of the bottle after a while. Lastly, the smell. Yes, some people don't like the smell of Rosehip oil. This stuff doesn't smell as strong as most others, so it's the lesser of some evils. I was actually expecting it to smell of rose, given that the packaging is all pretty roses, and the mask smelled of rose. If manufacturers of rosehip oil wish to attract more customers, they should use a tiny amount of herbal, citrus or floral essence to mask what some find unpleasant. It doesn't take away from the rosehip being pure and would avoid the polarising views.

So anyway, if you like Rosehip, this is as good as any. I say Go for it!

Tips: Use after a shower when your face is warm and damp

Rosehip, açai, evening primrose oil

I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this and the mask. It comes in a pale pink packaging with a rose on it, which is nice. It has the list of ingredients and all of them are natural oils. It comes in a pipette dropper, which feels quite flimsy but does the job. The oil itself has been great for my skin! It's been quite dry this year and I've been using the oil twice a day as suggested and within a week, my skin feels more hydrated and radiant! It does leave a bit of a greasy feel so I use four drops at night and only 2 in the morning. My skin is scarred from previous breakouts but I feel the oil has helped improve my texture already. I will keep on using it and hopefully my skin continues to improve.

No Overpowering Scent

Got to trial this product thanks to BR. Lovely pink rose coloured packaging with a rose on it. The product itself is in a semi frosted see through bottle, white lid dropper. The oil is like a pale yellow. The dropper has the rounded tip so gives a super precise amount of product. Has a very faint rose scent to me but mostly just smells like an oil. Not overpowering at all.

As per directions, I used this on face and neck with the recommended 2-3 drops. Absorbs nicely into the skin. I actually prefer to use this as an all over body oil rather than a face oil. Very good for hydrating and moisturising. I didn't notice a reduction in my skin tone or fine lines. However that may be because I haven't yet used it long enough.

I don't know how much this costs though I imagine it would be about $20 at a guess. (I only mention price as price point is a part of my decision making when purchasing a product) As it stands, I don't find anything outstanding about this oil, I prefer another one over this. I will finish this up but I will not be repurchasing.

Silky smooth

Firstly, this is the first facial oil i have used that isnt a cleanser. This oil is silky smooth, immediate results, easy to apply and isnt too strong in scent. I love rose scent as it makes you feel calm, relaxed and snug but too much can make your eyes squint and force you to use less of a product.

I use this every night after cleansing and eye cream but before my facial mist to lock in all my skin care. I use 1-2 drops, warm in my finger tips and apply from forehead down to my chest.

The packaging is great! Sturdy and easy to use. With oily products you dont want to use too much so packaging that ensures you use the correct amount with ease just made this product that much better, so 5 kisses for appropriate packaging.

The texture and feel is as is, its oily, but a silky feel, dosent linger on the skin and soaks in beautifully. The results i got were immediate, my skin was smooth, soft and supple skin on my face, neck and chest and i found my skin would glow the next morning from being so nourished and hydrated. I have not yet found a change in my skin tone or with any lines i have. As fine lines and skin tone are a minimal concern for me i highly reccomend this product! This is a great first oil product to try if your interested but not sure. You're not going to break the bank as it isnt a high price point product, and if you dont like it for the face you can use on the body as well.

Love my new addition to my skin care routine!

Tips: 1-2 drops for the whole face, remember to bring product right down to chest and neck. warm in finger tips before applying.

Not for my oily skin

So I don't know whether it's this product or not but my skin did not like having this on it, I have quite oily skin as it is so it irritated my skin by having this oil on it. I'm sure it would suit those with dry skin but I wasn't a fan, it felt heavy on the face and I didn't particularly like the smell of it. Overall I wouldn't use this product again but like that its paraben free and perhaps it would suit other people better.

Weird Smell, Weird Texture.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I've used many rosehip oil products in the past - most notably the Trilogy version - and have never loved any of them. So in all fairness, I was skeptical about this new addition to the rosehip oil bandwagon from the get go.

Nevertheless, I have been using it all week. I really wanted to like it, so I could give a positive review to an NZ brand. But. It just. I can't.

The smell is is like stale crayons. Sure, skincare shouldn't have added fragrance in the first place, but surely there is someway to purify the smell of this oil.

Secondly, the texture is a bit gritty. It's not rough on my face, but there is definitely *something* in it that makes it less than a pure oil.

I have been applying the oil at night after my hyaluronic acid moisturiser. I rub and rub and then wipe the excess off my hands and then rub some more. But it simply won't absorb into my skin. I figured that is just how it is meant to work. But in the morning, I can tell that there is more product left on my pillowcase than my face.

I'm so sorry, Alpine Silk, but I didn't get a luxurious experience from this at all.

Couldn't get past the smell

I was really excited to trial this, having mainly only used Trilogy Rosehip Oil in the past.

I haven't used rosehip oil in a long time as I have battled adult acne and have been more focused on night serums that contain retinol and salicylic acid to control my acne (currently using Dermalogica Age Bright Clearing Serum).

This product felt fine when it went on, but I could not get past the horrible smell. Most rosehip oils smell floral, but this one smells almost meaty and being someone who doesn't eat meat, the smell made me gag. It smells like beef bone broth! My skin felt moisturised in the morning when I woke up but the smell was still there, and my pillow smelled like it as well.

A real shame - I wanted to like this product but just couldn't get past the smell. I will be giving it to a friend (if they can handle the smell!) as I can't bring myself to use it again.

The Alpine Silk face mask however is much better!

Tips: You only need a few drops.
