Minty madness

This is one of the products that started my Lush obsession. A few months back everyone on the forum was talking about lush and the bath bombs and well curiosity killed the cat.... No no it didn't it's killed my bank balance actually.

It comes in the lush trademark black tub and the actual mask smells minty but it also has a bit of an earthy smell with it. So I smother this mint mask all over my face and holy moly it has a huge cooling effect it is very refreshing. I don't store this in the fridge but I could imagine it would cool the face even more not that I think it needs it. I wait 20 minutes then wash it off it comes off easily in warm water and my face still feels a bit cool my skin looks tighter and fresher.

It says says that it's a face and back pack suited for spots. I had a bit of a breakout on my chin had me looking like dotty wot arrgh hormones!! So instantly thought.... Its moments like these you need minties (sorry I get carried away turning things into songs or TV ads) and applied it to my spots and it diminished the red angry spots and they weren't as inflamed and definitely helped clear them up faster. A great face mask for refreshing your face or banishing spots

Mighty Mask

Mask of Magnamity was my first ever Lush purchase and still remains one of my most-favourite. It's deep-cleaning claims sounded just what I needed for my acne-prone, oily skin and I love a good clay mask.

It comes packaged in the trademark Lush black pottle. For those unfamiliar with them they have a secure screw-top lid which is great for protecting the mask from moisture and air if you store them in the bathroom. The tub is a generous size and contains a whopping amount of product, I didn't manage to get through mine before it expired. I actually used it for some time after it expired without any detrimental results, just keep an eye on it and if it looks funky, biff it!

The mask itself is thick and green, with a rough texture and a nice minty smell. When applied it has an immediate cooling sensation which is refreshing, but this isn't a mask for sensitive skin. You can definately feel it working away as it tingles, deep-cleaning the skin and drawing all the gunk away. I leave it on until I feel it's dried, then rinse it off with warm water and a facecloth. I like to apply at night, then use a serum afterwards and I wake up with glowing, visibly clearer skin.

I'm not currently using this as i'm working my way through my Tailor mask and I don't like to use more than one clay mask at a time due to the expiry on the products. I would really recommend this for any acne-prone girl, but I've told friends with good or sensitive skin to stay clear as it can feel quite harsh on the skin.

Tips: The pottle has an expiry printed on the label. If you're a mask fan and have a few you use, or if you only do a face mask once a week or less, I'd recommend maybe splitting this with a friend who wants to try so that it doesn't go to waste before it expires. I have a friend who loves masks like I do and I give her decent samples of my Lush masks, and she'll lend me a mask to try, sharing is caring after all :)

Yet another epic effort from Lush

I found out about this product from the girls on the BR forum, and had to try it. I was given an unbelievably generous sample from Lush - enough for 5 masks! - and when it ran out I went and repurchased it.

I love Lush masks, always have, but it always irritated me a little that the fresh ones expire before you can use them up. WIth Mask of Magnaminty you have a self-preserving or standard option, both of which have a much longer shelf life, making them vastly more cost effective per use (although I still love and will continue to buy the other ones depending on the needs of my skin).

My skin is oily and when it gets grumpy it can break out or have wee red patches. It's much better now than it used to be, but oiliness is still an ongoing issue. This is great for my skin.

The mask comes in a very 'natural' green colour, with a strong smell of mint and darker green leaves (mint leaves?) in the lighter green base. It has a clay texture and is verey thick, but spreads reasonably easily.

When you apply this there is a strong 'minty' tingling sensation. It can feel very intense until it dries, but (unless it's super bad) persevere a couple of minutes as it always settles down for me. There appears to be a reaction when skin, air and the product first come into contact with each other.

As it dries, it darkens, and the reaction lessens. You can still smell the mint, but it stops tingling.

It dries to a rough texture, which can crumble off your face, so make sure you've a towel handy to lay over your knees! After the desired time frame (I usually go for 'half a Shortland Street' :p) the mask is ready to be washed off, and as you do it softens enough to become a nice cleanser/scrub.

This is an awesome product - it clears my skin, tightens, freshens and detoxifies it. It's a great pick-me-up and always makes me feel glowy and pampered. It's about $18.90 for the smallest size - I recommend getting the smaller one as Lush masks are super fresh and you're better off getting a smaller amount more often so that you're not playing expiration date roulette.

Also - as this comes in the classic Lush screw-top black plastic pottle, it's one that (if you collect 5 empties) can be traded in for a free mask eventually.

Tips: Go in to Lush and ask for a sample. They're so generous with these :)

I love how generous Lush are with their samples, even if you aren't purchasing on that visit.

Probably too harsh for facial use

This is a super minty, gritty, scrubby mask with a bright green colour.

It claims to draw dirt out of your pores but I didn't notice this effect. It was one heck of a scrub, though.

I think it would be better suited for body use as it contains a lot of mint, which can be irritating, and the exfoliating particles are too harsh for the face. It will hurt if you rub too much, so try to soften it as much as possible before removing. I also read on various skincare articles that this mask is not so good for the face for the reasons I stated.

I might buy it again to use on my body because it smells really amazing and uplifting, but never again on my face!

Mask of Minty Goodness

This is my first lush buy for myself, I was specifically looking for a mask and this caught my eye online. I work around the corner from a Lush branch so popped in and picked it up.

When I sniffed this in store I couldn't smell much but I got a whiff of mint but there were also a lot of background smells from the Easter campaign. Once home, you could definitely smell the mint, more spearmint than peppermint, and something else, not sure what it is but there is something else there. The mask itself is a grainy texture in green. Once on the skin it has a cooling effect, you leave it on about 5-10 minutes and then wet hands and scrub off. I think you could scrub first and then leave for 5-10 minutes as well if you wanted to reverse the options. After the scrub has been removed, my skin felt soft.

What I wish is that the grainy texture was a bit finer that the larger size it is at present. The small pot that it comes in should last about 5 masks depending on how much you use, I have done thick masks and I have done thin ones where I dipped a brush in and then wiped on my face to avoid getting exfoliant. This is a fresh mask but I had a 3 month expiry date on mine. I do think that I will be back for more of this at some point as I do like the cooling sensation.

Tips: On the pottle it does say face and body.

Minty!

The mask comes in a thick rough consistency which I find easy to apply. I put on a thick layer wait for a good 30mins for it to harden/dry. A good tip is to do it before a shower because it gets messy. I genitally wash it off with a flannel as well. If you love a minty smell then this is for you! It does the job and cleared my skin. Would use it again.

Minty goodness!

This mask feels so good on my skin! I wear makeup on a daily basis and my skin can get quite grubby sometimes, and this mask makes everything feel so clean.

It's very minty and smells delicious. It's easy to use and not messy at all. My skin feels really refreshed afterwards. It also has a scrubby feel so it doubles as an exfoliant when you're washing it off. Absolutely love this mask!

HG Mask for blemished skin

I hunted down reviews for masks suited to blemished skin and this one had rave reviews. In my cart it went and a few days later I had it in my hot little hands. I selected the self preserving option as it was the same price and gave me a much longer window of time in which to use it (mine expires in December so I get 3-4 months as opposed to one).

I have never used a lush mask before so was quite taken aback by the texture and appearance- green and lumpy, although the minty smell was amazing. It doesn't dry hard like a clay mask would, but instead sort of sets on the skin. I found this felt mildly tingly and cooling on my skin. Because I have a normal/dry forehead I don't always apply the mask all over my face but instead concentrate it on the areas which look congested or have large pores.

I made the mistake of using a flannel to remove this the first time- this is too harsh because it drags the exfoliating particles around your face. Instead I found the best way was to wet my face and then gently massage the product away- this exfoliated my skin so beautifully and delicately. I then followed with a wet muslin cloth to remove any last traces of mask.

This makes your skin feel baby bottom smooth and look much fresher and healthier. My pores around my nose appear reduced after use and my active breakouts seem to look a little less angry as well as heal a teeny bit faster also. This also leaves your skin with that minty smell! I have somewhat sensitive skin and had no aversive effects to this mask.

I am absolutely sold on this one and will be repurchasing when I run out!

Lush Mask of Magnaminty

I have to admit, when it comes to products, appearance can be the make or break for me. So it goes without saying that when I looked in the pot the clumpy green stuff made me cringe. But the fresh minty smell was to die for and I was keen to see if this could help keep my skin clear.

I went all in and purchased the 315g pot of self-preserving mask. If you're used to smooth masks then this may take some getting used to. Although lumpy you still don't need to apply a lot. Upon contact with my face this had a nice cooling sensation.

It doesn't set hard. I find the best way to remove it is to wet it (in the shower is best) and massage like a facial scrub (then you get the benefit of a scrub). Or if you don't feel like a scrub just wet it and wipe it off. It rehydrates quickly and comes off easily.

The other awesome thing about this mask is that it's not drying. It leaves skin feeling super smooth and fresh. You probably only want to use it a couple of times a week though.

I will definitely be repurchasing this when I run out.

Tips: Apply before you shower, then wash off in the shower as if it were a facial scrub.

Minty face, and not the toothpaste kind.

I was doing a Lush order when I shouldn't have been, and as I can't get to a store to try anything I thought I would ask for a sample of this. It arrived a few days later and lo and behold they had sent me a full sized one! I couldn't believe how lucky I was, as it's super expensive, so whatever karma there is, they have it!

The mask comes in a black tub with a screw top lip. Mine is self preserving, but I had to ask the BR babes because I had no idea if it would still go bad or not! Apparently it won't so I can keep it for a bit longer than the date it says. I opened it and grinned gleefully.

The mask is a lovely grey/green color and it has bits in it. Not massive bits that fall off your face but bits all the same. It smells like mint and tea and it's quite nice. They say apply a generous layer so I have been lately, as I only have one face and I can't use up a whole tub by myself.

The mask is surprisingly cooling on the face, and it's really nice when you wash it off as the bits in the mask act as an exfoliating wash so it's really like a two in one! My face always feels so much cleaner and smoother. I haven't really noticed it clearing my blackheads or pimples (when I have them) but it is a really nice mask. It dries alright, but it still looks wet! It's quite a magical product.

I wouldn't purchase this myself, just because of the price tag and the fact I'm not sure it really cleans my skin out like it claims. I'm so grateful to Lush for sending it to me though.
