A new favourite

I got this in a Best Beauty Box ever, and will definitely be buying this product again. I was quite skeptical as to whether or not a balm like this could adequately remove a full face of make-up, but my skepticism was unfounded - it does indeed remove make up, leaving the skin fresh and clean. But the biggest bonus is that if you are someone who suffers from dry or reactive skin, this product doesn't irritate in any way - that's so important for me. I think if I was somewhere really humid (as I've been in the past, and prone to break outs in that environment) I might be more reluctant to use this (but maybe it would be fine actually). But being in a cold place, where dryness is more an issue, this balm is perfect. Super easy to use too - just smear it all over the face then wipe it off, and apply serum (or whatever). Nice and portable for trips away and no risk of leaking, which is a big bonus!

Staple make up remover

With makeup removers ranging from one extreme to the other (micellar water/balms/oils) this one is perfect. Solid in the pot but warms quickly and easily when you rub your finger tips together to make a light slightly oily cleanser. Rubbed over your face it loosens the days makeup easily and effectively. It did struggle to remove a benefit mascara that is well known for being hard to clean - I found if I gently wiped some across my lashes and waited a few moments before actually trying to loosen the mascara it worked better. The scent is subtle and natural smelling, no heavy chemical perfume smells. When washed off it easily mixes in with water to wash off. My skin is very soft and clean afterwards - compared to using a micellar water which can feel either greasy or stripping depending on the brand I much prefer this balm. Sometimes I follow with regular cleanser - the balm to remove makeup and then a cleanser to clean my skin. I've also got a small sample pot of this which comes in handy for travel, you only need to use a small amount so you don't need to take the whole big jar away and it doesn't leak! Always a plus when travelling.

Break Up Balm

This product is really interesting. It comes in a circular container and is a solid balm. It looks a little bit like having a massive pot of lip balm.

I'm very naughty and just stick my fingers into the pot and smear it all over my face. And I can instantly feel the make up loosening and breaking up on my face. I then wipe it all off with a flannel or tissue.

I only use the cleansing balm when I have a full face of make up on. When I have less make up on, I prefer to use my normal cleanser to make this product last longer.

Consistancy-wise this product reminds me a little of my Hurraw lip balm.

I'm not sure I'd buy it again. I like it, but I'm not sure if I like it enough for the price tag.

Just not a fan of balms

The Trilogy Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm definitely does what they say it will. But I'm just not a fan of balms for anything other than lips! I personally find it hard to know how much to use if I'm using a balm. But the product most certainly does what they say it will, with no irritation to my sensitive skin!

Gentle cleansing

I was so excited to be given this product as I'm a massive fan of cleansing oils - so was very excited to try a cleansing balm.

I have sensitive, combination skin and lately I've been on a big push to pan products. As a result, I ended up using a couple of products that were not very good for my skin and I ended up with sore, sensitised, blemished skin. I realised I was being silly - that it's better to just give away products that don't suit my skin. So I put aside those products and started using this cleansing balm twice a day.

Initially I was worried that the heavy balm would make my skin break out and wouldn't clean, but instead this was a gentle, nourishing way to clean my face. It didn't happen immediately, but after a couple of weeks of washing my face with this, my skin was no longer dry, sensitive and blemished and I can finally leave the house without BB cream to hide my awful skin!

Using this product is quick and easy, requiring you to massage 1/4 tsp into your face, then remove with a warm washcloth. I find it particularly good for cooler weather, as you're not splashing water around the place. It would also be a great option for travel, as you'll never have to worry about it spilling in your travel bag!

Using a face wash that doesn't strip the natural oils is really important for dry, sensitive or mature skin, and this balm is a really good option.

Would I buy it again? Without sounding ungracious after it fixed my face, ultimately I prefer pump-top cleansing oils, finding them a little faster and easier to use, with all the same advantages. For that reason I probably won't repurchase, unless I'm specifically looking for a good travel product.

Tips: If you find it leaves your skin greasy use a really hot face cloth to remove it.

Does the job

Works just as its described and having the little face cloth that comes with it is great! with most make up removers i have to repeat the process but with the trilogy cleansing balm i don't have to.

down side for me personally is even with a good rinse , removal and cleanse it still leaves a oily residue which i do not like.

Would recommend for someone with dry / sensitive skin not like myself as i have quite oily to combination skin.

So pointless.

Removes makeup but leaves a film on the skin after. There are so many better alternatives than this for a balm makeup remover.

OMG love this.

This product is so cool. I have recommended this to a couple of my girlfriends. It is awesome at removing make up without drying out your face. It does exactly what is says it will do. I love the flannel cloth that comes with it and it will even remove waterproof mascara. You will look like a hot mess but man this is an awesome product. Very simple but very effective.

Tips: Use as directed.

Trilogy Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm

I cannot lie, I actually didn't think much of this product until I had to remove heavy makeup after midnight. Since then, this is a staple product in my skincare collection!

I had used this just to remove everyday makeup and it definitely did the job - it just didn't stand out from any other cleanser for me. That is until I was a bridesmaid and was wearing individual false lashes. After midnight trying to remove those little devils was a nightmare, until I remembered I had for some strange reason packed this gem! Rubbing this all over my eye makeup saw all of the false lashes gently fall off without irritating my real lashes or eyes in anyway. I couldn't believe it!

This product does have a weird oily feeling which is why I initially wasn't a huge fan. That is until I saw how gently oily feeling melted away even the heaviest of makeup! And in all fairness, it actually helps to keep my skin feeling hydrated which is often the issue I have with cleansers. Rinsing a few times or even using a hot face cloth seemed to remove most of this oiliness if it annoyed me. Most importantly, it does not irritate my sensitive skin!

This product doesn't have a strong scent and I love the simplicity of the packaging. It is the perfect size to still be able to throw into an overnight back when travelling. But would I buy this again? If it was on sale definitely! But seeing as there are a few makeup balms coming out for cheaper I would probably try them first to see if they do the same job.

Tips: Great for removing individual false lashes easily!

Rinse or use a hot face cloth a few times to remove the oily feeling if you don't like it!

On the fence

I wasn't sure what to think about these products but I bought this the day it came out as I'd been wishing for Trilogy to create a makeup removal product for a long time.

I'm pretty lax when it comes to removing makeup - a makeup removal cloth in the shower and a double cleanse with my Trilogy cleanser has me set. I'm not sure how I felt about this - perhaps because it took more time than I was used to for my routine, but I'm sure it was better than rubbing with a flannel.

I would only use this if you're going to cleanse with a proper cleanser afterwards as it leaves a slightly uncomfortable film on your face. I think for me I would only use a dedicated makeup remover when I want to take my makeup off and can't be bothered cleansing (after a late night!) so I'm not sure I would repurchase. I do however have the Make Up Break Up balm from Goodness (their sister brand) so I'm keen to see how they differ.
