I'm usually a china glaze chick, but the gel envy colours caught my eye in the chemist, and the idea of gel type longer lasting polish made me curious but quite low on my list of wants in a polish as I recolor my nails frequently. I ended up buying the shade showtime along with the top coat. The advertising gives the impression that you need the top coat to go with the nail polish as a 2 step system, but the reality is that while it gives it strength and shine you can wear the nail polish without it. I really don't think its particularly long lasting although it does last longer than standard polish. My actual love about the polish is how vivid and shiny the colours are.. I own 3 colours in this range. The showtime is purple with tiny blue glitter in it, All In which is a lighter peacock metallic colour and Blackjack which is black.
I'll continue to buy them when I see them on special, but I don't think that they are worth the RRP of $20 each. The 3 colours plus the top coat I own were purchased from unichem on a buy one, get one free special. In saying that, they have some truly gorgeous colours and I'd probably repurchase Showtime at full price as its my fav colour.
I have a love hate relationship with normal nail polish. I love it for the girly look. I hate that the same day I out it on, it chips right off!!
I have been using the Sally Hanson Miracle gel polishes and love them. I was told about the Revlon ones and was excited to use these.
The initial cost I'm not impressed with at all. You pay $20 for the colour and another $20 for the top coat. I was willing to give it a go as Revlon have way more colours.
Anyway.. Revlon. I brought the Showtime colour and top coat. The colour is lovely. Sparkly purple. The lid bit is long so easy to hold. The brush is slightly flat compared to a normal brush.
The polish is kinda gluggy. To apply it you need to use a lot of brushes on each nail. I thought it must just be the first coat that would be hard to apply. Second coat it was worse! Now friends have told me to apply a drop of nail polish remover to thin it down. Does this change how the gel polish works?
I put the top coat on and wait. It drys, not matt but not shiny and gorgeous like SH.
This chips in 2 days. So for me a fail. I used this while recovering from surgery and not doing a lot. So I can't say it's from having busy hands.
So the score for me, yes I'll probably use again, just to use it up or I'll pass it onto someone else. I don't believe it does what It says it would do, BUT it does stay on longer than normal polish
