I used to believe Mac was just a brand that was way too overhyped and ridiculously expensive, and whilst I still believe their products are not exactly kind to our wallets, the quality of their products definitely live up to their name!
Admittedly, I have never bought Mac lipsticks myself, but have luckily been gifted two: "A24 Fetish" in a Frost finish, and "AA4 Flat Out Fabulous" in a Retro Matte finish. Fetish is a russet brown colour with a very distinct sheen. It's definitely a 90s grunge kind of look, and is unfortunately not something I would go for. Of course, FOF is your classic bright fuchsia with a purple base. It actually really reminds me of Australis' Velourlips in the shade "Shang-hi", so if you're looking for a more affordable liquid dupe, just a heads up!
Hands down, Mac lipsticks have the best longevity by far, and paired with a lipliner underneath, it can practically last through any eating or drinking. Obviously, there will be fading, but never to the point where it's distinct.
Despite the price, it is such an amazing investment and so worth it. I am definitely going to get more in the future (once I've stopped crying over the price).
Tips: pair it with a lipliner and your lips are practically set for the day!
It is such a beautiful colour and applies smoothly to my lips. It finishes matte and looks incredible on the lips! I got mine in america so it was $17 but here they're $40 which is the only downside but its worth the money 100%
Tips: Use any lip liner you don't have to buy the matching one xx
I love my mac lipsticks so much! I would highly recommend to anyone umming and ahhing over buying one. The $40 that they cost are most definitely worth it. A majority of my lipstick collection consists of Mac.
Tips: You don't have to use a mac lip liner or even the same colour lip liner. I use drug store lip liners and I mostly use nude under any lipstick.
My first ever Mac lippie is in the shade Faux, and since I'm a newbie to make up, especially lipsticks, it was the perfect nude shade with a slight pink hue that is perfect for everyday use. It's creamy texture doesn't dry out your lips, but because it's creamy, the lip colour does transfer, thought most of the colour stays on your lips! It was the first time I spent $40NZD on a lipstick, but it was worth it and I would definitely purchase another lippie again.
I looooveee these lipsticks!so many shades and finishes to choose from and they last really well too! Twig and verve are my faves right now! I have a problem with them bleeding a little bit on my lips so if anyone has any tips to prevent that from happening let me know!
Tips: Use a lip scrub before application to get a smooth finish!
At one stage I was an epic fan of MAC but due to taking a more natural approach to my skincare and makeup I have left them behind and in doing so I can say that I don't miss them. There are plenty of other equal quality lipstick brands on the market most of which don't charge $40 a lipstick!
Ok the lipsticks are good in the sense that they have great colour payoff, none tried have been patchy and have a cupcake vanilla scent, with a variety of colours and finishes to choose from, but they are the same as any other lipstick that they need 2-3 top ups throughout the day as the product breaks down from normal daily activity.
Would I use again, no just because of my stand of the makeup industry and the fact that there is plenty of cheaper alternatives on the market.
Would I recommend, probably but wouldn't rave that they are the be all and end all of products
I always wanted MAC lipsticks when I was younger and I still get so excited every time I buy one. Every shade and finish I've tried has been consistently good. Probably the best bullet lipsticks I've tried in terms of longevity, smoothness and pigmentation. The shade range is amazing, they have every shade and finish I can think of. The packaging is sleek and simple and looks so good.
I think there definitely are cheaper alternatives that are still excellent and dupes but I recommend these highly. I've loved every lipstick from MAC I've bought and get so much use out of them.
I don't wear lipstick often but, when I do, I go for a MAC lipstick. The pigment is incredible and it stays bright and smooth the whole time, with only the occasional touch-up needed. It is a high-priced brand but if you're looking for something extremely eye-catching and comment-worthy, this lipstick is it.
I am absolutely in love with my MAC lipsticks. My favourites are definitely Velvet Teddy and Snob! I love that Velvet Teddy can be worn with pretty much any makeup look and Snob is a gorgeous pink with a beautiful sheen. I have recommended these lipsticks to ALL of my friends and they have loved shades from the Matte range too!
