This is my ride or die all time favourite product that I've ever used to dye my hair! So many amazing colours to choose from that all apply so easily. My collection of colours is rapidly growing because I can't stop buying them even though a little goes a really long way. With my experience these colours last really long for me so I'd recommend this more to someone who doesn't change their hair colour as frequently. Regardless though this product is gentle and nourishing to my hair especially after bleaching. There is a bit of a weird smell to the dye but once its washed out it's completely gone.
Tips: Using conditioner to dilute if the colour is too intense/pigmented.
I have been using the Atomic Turquoise for a few months now to colour the ends of my hair. It is the amplified version (which is meant to last longer). When I first put the dye in, the blue colour is lovely and vibrant, but I find after the first wash it fades A LOT, and turns a green/blue colour in my hair. I haven't re-coloured for a few weeks now and the colour is still there though, just a very faded green colour. So it lasts for a long time, just not at it's best. It didn't turn out quite the blue tone I was expecting either, but I like it anyway, and have received many compliments on it.
Tips: Be prepared to recolour often if you want a vibrant colour.
This product is awesome as long as you get hair to the correct level needed before applying manic. Wicked colours a+++
Tips: The lighter the hair the brighter the colour will come out.
I am a long time colourer of my hair , and have used multiple bright dyes to create my locks . On a whim , I tried this product . Firstly , it is quite pricey if you purchase instore compared to others . I did a little research and got it offline . Secondly , I found with Manic Panic that the existing colour needed to be seriously bleaced before applying their product , which I found quite trying on my hair . I also found that the amount of product I had to use to get the colour bright enough was most of the pottle , whereas with other dyes that I still use to date such as Paintbox or Special Effects , a bottle would last months . I found the formula quite watery and sliding around the hair a lot . Once the colour was finally to my ( admittedly fussy ! ) liking ; it did not last long before fading . I was quite disappointed with this product as I so wanted to like it . I did try it twice more with different colours hoping for diferent results , but was let down again .
I used this a couple of years ago when i dyed the bottom half of my hair hot hot pink and i loved it thew colour was amazing so bright looked fantastic, i have brown hair and just dyed the bottom half with a blonde super market dye to lighten my hair to a ginger like colour then dyed over it with this which worked perfect, only annoying this is i had to redo it every week but i think that is just what you get with these bright products,I preferred this alot more than paintbox, and i found it was super conditioning and left my hair felling great!
Tips: I have a pic on my instagram @jamielynnekirk with the difference between paintbox and manic panic if anyone wants to see, scroll down the bottom of the pics :)
I would say this is average hair dye. Its ok and you get a good amount but the is abit on the expensive side. But is ok.
I had finished my fudge paintbox so went to find a store that sold something similar. I was told Manic panic was good, I purchased it for $30, I got deep purple. Its a round container and I found it difficult getting dye out as I didn't have a brush to dip it into the product. The colour lasted 5-10 washes for me, I was able to use this dye 3 separate occasions. I prefer fudge paintbox than this one.
manic panic are cool only wash out time is like fudge really quick. loses its vibrance after one wash.
Tips: if your keen on upkeep go for it. or put a little on your shampoo when you wash keeps it bright.
In the quest to have the underside of my hair blue, I purchaed Manic Panic's 'Shocking Blue' dye from their NZ site. When this arrived, I bleached my hair and got it to a pale yellow shade. My research online made me think that this was definitely light enough for the pigment to take.
This comes in a small jar with a screw top lid. No gloves came with it so beware that you will need some. For the price I would have expected a pair of gloves but never mind. In the jar shocking blue is a beautiful medium blue with purple undertones.
I followed the instructions to a t, but ended up leaving this on for 2 hours - as I thought that perhaps by leaving it on longer it would stain my hair and this make this last longer.
Using a dye brush that I have from previous dye jobs, I combed this through the bleached hair and made sure to pay attention to make it look seamless and not patchy. After applying it, I wrapped my hair in glad wrap and chilled out for two hours.
When I washed this out it looked like I had committed a gory smurf murder haha. The dye washed out super easily and with no fuss. I excitedly dried my hair only to be extremely disappointed.
Before coin tuning, I want to add that everyone's hair is different and the reason this didn't work for me may be something to do with my hair. This didn't work out for my hair at all but it could for yours.
When I dried my hair I was definitely shocked... However, min stead of having shocking blue hair I had a super ugly, shocking green/blue TINT to my hair. For some reason the pigment in this didn't adhere to my hair whatsoever and merely tinted it - and tinted it an ugly blue/green. I was super disappointed after spending that much money on a dude, and quickly went down to the Warehouse and got a different dye.
As I saod above this may not have worked due to something with regards to my hair. My hair usually takes dye really well but this isn't the first blue dye that I have had problems with (a similar thing happened with Directions hair dye). Because of this experience I absolutely won't purchase this brand again and it wouldn't be my first recommendation to friends.
Tips: If you want blue hair, grab a few boxes of Schwarzkopf's Ultra Brights in blue. At $5 a box they come with gloves and the pigment is amazing. I have this in my hair currently and it is a beautiful, vibrant shocking blue - not an ugly blue/green tint.
