Love this! Made my hair feel so smooth and healthy

I must admit i was a bit nervous to use this product as i'm very basic with my hair care, but i'm oh so happy i did use it! It says that it instantly starts absorbing as you apply it and it does! I love this because i can feel it doing its thing and i don't feel like i'm wasting the product. It was a nice thick consistency, but not too think to make my hair feel heavy. It had a nice scent - not too overpowering. When i was washing it out my hair was sooooo smooth! It dried really well and i was very impressed. I recommended this to a friend and she loved it too! There is nothing i would change about this product, and i would definately buy it again!

Tips: None! It's fullproof!

Helping hand rather than a miracle.

My dry, damaged blonde hair was screaming out for the Loreal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle treatment to arrive on my doorstep. Previously, I had been using the Loreal Professional Absolue treatment and I was very interested to see how these two products, with significantly different price tags, would compare. As we all know, price is often a good indicator of quality, with the exception of a few little beauties.

I have managed to squeeze this product into my routine five times since its arrival. I apply it after washing and conditioning my hair (for cleanness and knots) and squeezing as much water from my hair as possible. This method ensures that the treatment is sitting on my hair, rather than dripping down the drain. Because my hair is quite damaged and doesn't become oily, I applied it about 2 inches from the roots downwards, focusing on the ends of my hair. I did need to use a significant amount of product to cover the hair, however the size of the tube is reflective of this. The texture of the product is very similar to a conditioner, only slightly thicker. This product claims to be a 60 second treatment, however 2-5 minutes did ensure a better result.

After blowdrying my hair, I noticed that it was slightly softer, smoother and shinier, without loosing any volume. It didn't meet the standard of the "full of vitality and incredibly soft to touch" claim, but like I said, my hair is reasonably dry and damaged. The visible result was pleasing, but not particularly impressive. My hair was left fresh and clean, with a very, very subtle 'salon smell'.

I will continue to use this product in my routine, and I am interested to see the condition of my hair after a longer period of time. Perhaps this product is doing more deeper repairing, rather than covering the hair in a slippery soft coating.

For such a teeny price tag ($8.99) this would be a great addition to the hair care routine of someone on a budget or someone with only minor damage who is looking for a boost. For myself, I will be sticking with the Loreal Professional treatment, as I would rather pay the extra money for a significant difference to my hair. In the meantime, the Loreal Paris Elvive Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle treatment will continue to have a place in my bathroom.

Tips: Remove as much water from the hair as possible before applying. This ensures that the product remains in the hair, rather than down the drain.

Bit of a let down

Firstly I should start off saying that I do have colour damaged hair. Not completely fried but it has done many colour changes over the year with the most recently a change to blonde. It is because of this I had really high hopes of a treatment that claimed to repair from the inside. Unfortunately I can't say that over the last couple of weeks I have seen any real improvement to the texture and health of my locks. The cream itself did feel lovely to apply. It is pink in colour and feels really smooth & hydrating when applied. It also smells lovely too. However that was it for me. It felt more or less like a second conditioner in my shower routine rather than a powerful serum. I do wonder if maybe it needs to be left on longer than the recommended 'apply & rinse right away'. So over all I wouldn't purchase this myself again but have enjoyed putting it to the test.

Tips: Perhaps leaving it on your hair longer would have better results.

Total Repair 5

Well this product made me really excited the first time I used it. My hair felt really smooth and silky and that was following the instructions and rinsing straight after applying.

The second and third time however, did not make me excited. My hair did not feel smooth and silky at all. I tried leaving it in for 5 minutes the third time but still nothing.

It does smell really pleasant and the smell is nice but other than that I feel it just didn't do what the packaging said it could.

Surprisingly good!

I try for a hair mask every weekend - a luxurious routine involving a nose pore strip and a face mask too. But this is the perfect top up during the week when I don't have more than 4 minutes in the shower. I like the smell although the colour is a little odd (same colour as the bottle), but the feel of my hair after I've put it in is lovely. I'm not sure if it's silicone based or not and would be interested to know but it sure does do the trick. Doesn't weight down hair and leaves it feeling silky for the next day. Excellent for my thick, dry mane.

Tips: Even though it isn't necessary, I do think leaving it in for even 2 minutes makes a real difference.

Did the job

I have a two year old so I was keen to try something that didn't mean I had to wait in the shower for 10 minutes to let it do it's thing.

The product is quite thin - was expecting more of a thicker consistency, like a masque. It went on my hair well and was easy to run through although it didn't feel like I had a treatment on. It had a pleasant fragrance, although I do wish that some of these bigger brands would use some more natural type fragrances - this was a pleasant but chemically fragrance. My normal hair products are an organic one I get from my hairsalon and they have such gorgeous natural lavender and orange fragrances!! I digress...I normally wash my hair then leave conditioner on while I am washing face etc so I did the same with this and left it on even though it said to rinse off straight away. I did try that once and it didn't seem to be much different so you are probably good to just rinse straight away anyway.

I did find that my hair felt soft and silky once I'd washed it off. Also my hair seemed to dry a bit faster than normal and it felt light and soft once it was dry. I only used it on the ends of my hair as I tend to get quite oily roots.

I did like this product and it was a good quick treatment, however I will probably look for something a bit more natural/organic in the future.

Tips: Squeeze as much water out of your hair as possible before applying as otherwise it kind of just drips off.

L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Instant Miracle

I really enjoyed using this product. The cream was silky and easy to spread through my hair and it smelled great both when applying and on my hair after it had dried. I've used it a number of times, each time for varying amounts of times, from 1-5 minutes. I noticed that the results are better the longer you have it in your hair, but even if you're in a rush and only have time to leave it in for about a minute it is still very much worth it. The product was easy to rinse out of my hair due to its silky texture. The end result was that my hair became more silky and shiny which was great as my hair can usually appear quite dry. It helped with straggly fly-aways and made my hair generally more manageable. The cost is very good for the amount of product that you get and considering many repair treatments can be expensive. The packaging was great, having it in a squeezable tube was so much better than the tubs that a lot of treatments come in, they can be very awkward to use in the shower. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone suffering with dry and frizzy hair!

Tips: The longer you leave in the treatment the better. I leave it in while I'm shaving my legs and washing so that no time is wasted!

Exceeded Expectations

I will admit that I was dubious about this product and after the first couple of uses I thought I was right to be. I then reread the instructions and made sure I rinsed it out immediately after applying it and found that my hair is so much softer and I will be continuing to use this product. I find that my hair feels dry when I colour it and this product seemed to have reversed it, I recommend it.

Tips: Read the instructions

Nothing special

This has all the things a good enough conditioner should, it smells lovely and it conditions your hair reasonably well. I expected from it's name that it would be a more intensive conditioner, but my hair really felt the same as when using a normal cheap conditioner. I think it makes a good conditioner but it's not great for an intensive treatment.

LÓreal Paris ELVIVE Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle

I have very curly, dry, frizz prone hair that I have dyed a dark brown every couple of months and have been using this a couple of times a week for a few weeks now. I was hoping it would restore some moisture back into my hair but it didn't impress me as much as I hoped it would. Although my hair is naturally very dry I was hoping the "intense treatment" would deeply condition my locks, I've tried various ways of using the product - leaving it on longer, using on it's own in between shampoos and every time I used it I felt my hair was more tangled than with other products and I had trouble trying to comb this product through (this is my process with all conditioners/treatments). I did enjoy the bottle as the product was easier to get at than other treatments in the tubs and I also liked the consistency as it was more along the lines of a conditioner and so easier to spread through my hair. I've tried other products in the ELVIVE range and have always come away a little disappointed. For the price there are other supermarket brand treatments that work better on my hair type.

Tips: Use a generous amount especially if your hair is longer than shoulder length.
