picked up the L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Conditioner in the recent Beauty Review Beauty Vault along with the matching shampoo as I'm convinced there must be a range out there that is cheap and perfect for my hair. This actually comes pretty close! I prefer the conditioner to the shampoo and will definitely repurchase this exact product in the future, but look at other shampoo options.
The conditioner comes in a bronzed plastic bottle that isn't something that would automatically appeal from the shelf as a conditioner because it looks more like a fake tan bottle to me! I do like the swirly gold logos and the clarity of the product labelling though.
The conditioner itself is liquid form and a quite nice gold/orange shade. It has a non-distinctive, 'typical' scent that is pleasant. The conditioner moves easily through hair and - while it doesn't appear to be overly hydrating at the time - is deceptively efficient at making sure hair has moisture and smoothness. The product washes out cleanly.
I have noticed that since using this conditioner my hair brushes out more easily, and dries to a less frizzy, more smooth finish.
I recommend this conditioner to you! You can often pick the range up in the supermarket for around the $5/$6 mark and it's a LOT better than similar products from different ranges in a higher price bracket. I'll be keen to check out other ranges from this brand.
This conditioner is one that I’ve been using on and off for the last couple of years, along with the matching shampoo. I have long, super thick hair, which tends to get quite dry/fluffy on the outer layer. It’s not particularly damaged, as I’ve never coloured it and rarely use heat on it, but it does lack natural shine and smoothness.
I really like the packaging for this range. This conditioner comes in an opaque golden-yellow bottle, which stands up on its lid – super handy for getting every last drop of product out.
The actual conditioner is creamy, slightly yellow, and has a very thick consistency. I usually use a generous coin-sized amount , and a little goes a long way which is nice. It has the same scent as the shampoo: warm and slightly citrusy, and overall very salon-esque and ‘expensive’, in my opinion. It definitely leaves my hair smelling lovely, although it doesn’t linger around for ages once it’s dried.
This conditioner works really well. It leaves my hair smooth and tangle-free when I get out of the shower, and once dry it’s smooth and somewhat shiny. It doesn’t completely eliminate frizz – some things (like the weather) cause that no matter what, but it does reduce it a huge amount. I can get away with two to three days in between washes when I use this shampoo and conditioner, so it doesn’t make my hair unduly greasy.
I really love this range, and I will definitely be repurchasing (again) in the future. I like to switch up my shampoos and conditioners so I don’t get bored, but this is a reliable and budget-friendly option that I know I can trust.
Tips: Use with the matching serum for super smooth, glossy results! x
