L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampo

I generally wash my hair at night, then blow dry it until it’s at least semi-dry. I’m not going to try the dry shampoo the morning after I wash it - that would defeat the purpose of even washing it. And I’m not going to start washing my hair in the morning either, I like sleep too much. So I only used the dry shampoo a couple of times, however I found I ended up washing my hair about as frequently as I was before - every second day usually. I really liked that the dry shampoo didn’t leave a residue, however I’m not sure if it actually worked as well as my usual dry shampoo go to anyway. It feels like L'Oreal should have focused more on 1 or 2 products that work really well, rather than 4 products which work adequately at best both alone and together. I will probably only keep this product as a backup for when my trusty Batiste runs out.

L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Clay Dry Shampoo

After using the rest of the product range with great results, I had high hopes for this product. I was quite disappointed. I regularly use dry shampoo in my hair, so I am no stranger to how this sort of product should work. This one failed to deliver. On the third day after washing my hair, some oil started to show on my roots. I applied this dry shampoo as I normally would, and it didn't really make much of a difference. I still had a lot of oil on my roots, and my hair seemed to lose some of its shine where the product was applied. I tried again the next day when more oil appeared, but my hair still looked like an oil slick so I had to give in and wash it that night. Usually dry shampoo can tide me over for about 3 more days before washing. I won't be using this product again.

My new fav!

Having thick, unruly and oily hair I've tried most other dry shampoos but this one, as part of the whole extraordinary clay range is my favourite.

Using this as part of the system I didn't need to wash my hair every second day, in fact I got down to twice a week! It had a subtle fragrance, was easy to apply AND didn't leave me looking like I had bad dandruff

Tips: Make sure you massage/brush it through. Follow the instructions, and I like to clean the nozzle after each use so it doesn't build up!

Better than the rest

I frequently go to the gym and workout throughout the week, making my already oily roots even harder to manage through the week. After using the Clay Mask, Shampoo and Conditioner in this range, the last to try was the dry shampoo. I usually use the other dry shampoo's from other ranges so it was great to try this product out. I started to use the Clay Dry Shampoo after about 3 days and although my overall review of this particular product is great, there a few points that I need state. I absolutely love how it sprays as some other dry shampoo's has a heavy spray that leave your hair with a white powdery blob. This spray keeps it light and airy. My only critique with this product is that it does not have a brunette alternative, my hair is black and the white product can easily be seen, so i had to work it into the hair a lot more. It feels a little bit heavy after application but not too much and after a few minutes the oily shine is gone and your left with silky hair down to the ends.

Tips: I tend to use this product at night so that it penetrates into the scalp throughout the night to leave you waking up with fresh clean hair.

Elvive Extraordinary clay dry shampoo

I'm not a huge user of dry shampoos as I find they just don't do what they say they do. I gave this one a go on the days I didn't wash my hair and had mixed results. I loved the smell and was pleased to see it didn't leave the white film over my hair that other dry shampoos do that is hard to brush out. However while it did feel a wee bit fresher and lighter it didn't last that long. The price of this product is really good compared to other dry shampoos but overall there was nothing too special about it.

Dry Shampoo

I received this dry shampoo as part of the Extraodinary Clay range BR Trial (thanks BR!). When it comes to dry shampoo I'm always a bit "meh" about them. I've never found one that worked so I've never gone out of my way to purchase them regularly. Having one part of this range I was forced to use it haha.

The bottle is in your typical steel spray can and for just under $7 I think it's a pretty good bargain. There are clear directions on the can making this easy to use if you're a first time user of dry shampoo.

This one has been specifically created to coincide with the range for oily roots & dry ends (which I suffer from). On my third day of not having to wash my hair, my hair looked a bit limp so following directions I sprayed some through my roots & allowed it to settle for 2minutes before brushing through & styling. I was extremely surprised at the result because like I said, I've always been let down by dry shampoos. This instantly lifted my roots & made the limp look go away. It actually made my hair look like it had been freshly washed! (I had no hesitation about leaving the house).

There are mixed reviews on this dry shampoo so I guess it comes down to personal experience & opinion, but I for one loved it!

A bit meh?

I am a dry shampoo devotee, and I'm always keen to try new brands. So I was really excited to try the L'Oreal ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo. I have oily roots and dry ends, and normally use dry shampoo every other day. This product was ok, but not as good as some of the other products i've tried in the past. It has a fresh scent, and white in colour. It would be a good option for someone that it is sensitive to fragrance, or someone wanting gender neutral option (as I find most dry shampoos are very sweet or floral). It was great for most of my hair, but I found for my side-fringe it just didn't get all of the oil dealt with, so there was a slight limp appearance.

In terms of price point - it is slightly cheaper than other options. I would repurchase in a pinch, if I needed a product but there were not other dry shampoo options available.

Tips: If you have dark hair, make sure you brush it out well or try put it in before bed. This prevents white cast throughout the roots.

If you use the rest of the range, you may be able to negate the use of dry shampoo all together, or at least lessen use.

Worked for me

I am not a regular dry shampoo user. I normally just wash my hair rather than try to salvage it with dry shampoo. And I hate the white marks I'm left with when I try and use it.

This dry shampoo didn't seem as 'dry'. When I gave my hair a spray, it freshened it without leaving white patches. I preferred the feeling this dry shampoo has - it wasn't as powdery and grippy feeling, it seemed more smooth? If that even makes sense? Sometimes after other dry shampoos my hair can become stiff like I've used hairspray but this one left my hair smooth and soft.

I found I could only use this once to reduce the oilyness of my hair, which worked for about 24 hours, a second try after that didn't really seem to refresh my hair and it started to feel heavy and dirty.

I liked it to freshen my hair but I don't use much, or very often so one can will last me a long time.

Tips: Use the night before as it seems to work better.

A dry shampoo fail

I have very oily hair and I’ve never tried dry shampoo before, so I was excited to get chosen to try the L’oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Dry Shampoo. It comes in a 150ml bottle and it also has a lovely scent. The texture is like a light hair spray.

I wash my hair everyday second day, so I used the dry shampoo on days I haven’t washed my hair. I followed the instructions on the bottle. I shook the bottle well and sprayed it to my roots from 15cm above my hair. I did this to each section of my hair, only targeting the roots and let it soak in for 2 minutes. Once it has set, I lightly brushed it with a comb.

I was very disappointed and unimpressed with this dry shampoo. The dry shampoo didn’t absorb the oil like it said it would, instead made my hair very greasy, sticky and even oilier. The worst part was my scalp got very itchy, but I did have nice smelling hair.

Tips: Cover your face when spraying it onto your hair

L'Oreal Clay Dry Shampoo

I was super excited to try this dry shampoo, more than any of the other products in the range, but I just couldn't fall in love with it, I was so gutted.

The best bit about this dry shampoo is the scent, it did leave my hair smelling fresh which I loved because the scent lasted all day, but in terms of taking away the oiliness it juts didn't work for me. I did like how it wasn't white and powdery like some other brands, but maybe because it isn't as powdery it doesn't take the oil away? I wouldn't buy this product as I know there are others out there which do the trick for me.
